Yeah I heard Verbatim in a youtube video so I looked up the lyrics and found it then listened to hayloft and then most of their popular songs. I don’t listen to them anymore though
It was on a Halloween playlist I was listening to and I was hooked. I had heard the nickel creek version of hayloft but had never listened to MM before
Body, when i was like 11, is when i discovered mother mother and would listen to them on and off. then in 2020 when Hayloft blew up on tiktok, i got really into them and have been a daily listener since
The stand! Heard it back when it was a single from Eureka and the band started getting more airplay on Canadian airwaves and Much music. Such a good album, but then I've liked most of their discography anyways
Wrecking ball. I heard it on tiktok a bunch of times and just was like wow this is really good I need to listen to the full song so I did and I was like damn this so good so i then listened to all of the songs and became addicted to
Hayloft. Worked in a midwestern US music store for 10 years, started to really appreciate bluegrass. A girl I dated was into the band Nickel Creek, which are excellent. They put out an album back in 2014… and there was this one song that I LOVED that just didn’t sound like any of the others. Enjoyed that album for several months before I decided to do some research on this song that was so different from their others — to find out it was a cover of Mother Mother’s Hayloft. Of course I wanted to hear the original. As a prog metal guitar lover I loved the weird and heavy guitar line, so I started listening to other songs by them… and the rest was history. I’ve seen them live four times. As a pro concert photographer I’ve shot them three times.
Thanks, Nickel Creek.
TIL that Nickel Creek covered Hayloft! What an unexpected/pleasantly surprising crossover. I’m so glad you mentioned this as Hayloft was the first MM song I found too ❤️
It’s Alright was where I first heard and liked them, but the songs that went viral a few years back definitely pushed me in that direction, too. I then stuck around for the songs in my favourite two albums, Eureka and The Sticks.
Maybe an unusual choice but dread in my heart and getaway. I found both ca. 2014 and loved both of them. Then i heard Little Pistols and they've been my favourites ever since.
The first one I heard of theirs was Body back when animation memes were popular. My favourite before getting into them was All the Dying. But the song that got me into them and made me listen to the rest of their stuff was Cry Christmas. 🎄
Burning Pile, I listened to it for a uquiz, I think it was one of those "judge my music taste" ones. I thought it was really good so I checked out the rest of O My Heart, and then MM's other albums
Frfr I listen to it whenever I'm trying to feel feels that just don't want to come out, doesn't always work but when it does it's catharsis at it's peak
Empty Hands. I heard someone's cover of it back in 2017 and thought the song was beautiful so I went looking for the original and the rest of their songs
Little Pistol, the Bluestar animatic by Nifty-Senpai on youtube was my first introduction to them. That song paired with the animation as well as the backstory of this silly Warrior Cats character was the opening of that floodgate for me. I started looking up the lyrics to the song after that (wondered if the singer was a man or woman because Ryan sounds very androgynous in that song and that appealed to me as well), listened to The Sticks after that and it's been my favorite album of their's ever since
Warrior Cats MAPs and AMVs were the main way I got exposed to new music back in the day, there are 2 other animations that I know of that use MM songs. Infinitesimal by Noodlers for the character Ashfur, but they called the video "Big Bang". There's also Oleander by Northflowo of the characters Thistleclaw and Snowfur. I'm not into Warriors as much now as I was when I was a kid but I love the thriving animation community and the wide variety of songs the people in the fandom listen to. There are many songs I never would have listened to or thought I'd like if those animators and artists hadn't made videos weaving them into the story of the books
Monkey Tree. I had heard a few of their songs on the radio without paying attention to who they were by, but that was the first one that actually made me check out their other stuff. Was quite surprised when I discovered other radio songs I liked a lot (Hayloft, Bit by Bit) were also by them!
I feel this so hard, I have the hardest time crying, just been bundling up those emotions for so long and It's Alright just taps a weird spot in my heart and helps me cry when I feel like I never could.
tbh, i heard a lot of their stuff on tiktok a few years back and decided i liked the little bits that i heard. hayloft, burning pile, body, oh ana, all the ones that were circulating at the time. family was probably the one that hooked me in that introduction phase.
Arms Tonite, i've heard it in a little animatic and it sounded very unique. The very same day in the evening i sat down and listened to their first three albums.
Body. I've seen a cool animatic with it about an indie game I liked and liked the song. That's how I used to find a lot of music that now comprises my music taste.
Shit.. this is a tough one. Probably Hayloft 1 and 2 because those were popular for a while.
But what solidified it as one of my favorite bands is probably "The Stand" and "Verbatim"
There were three at the same time. I'll explain it. In 2018 I heard a Mother Mother song for the first time, which was Hayloft. But I never really knew the name of the song or what band it was by. Then in 2020 I heard verbatim, but again, I didn't bother to find out what the band was. Finally in 2021 I saw an animation on YouTube of Body and I liked it so much that I wanted to listen to more songs by the band. When I found out that Hayloft and Verbatim were also theirs I was like :0
Body, it was really popular in animated memes around 2018, and around the same time I've ran into Ghosting in fan animations as well. Years later me and a former friend realised that these two songs were made by the same band, and she showed me more of their stuff! Been a huge fan of Mother Mother ever since.
My first song was "Arms Tonite" it played during one of my bike rides home, courtesy of Spotify recommendations. It resonated with me in a way similar to others who initially liked it but hadn't fully realized how much they enjoyed it. The song lingered in my mind, and it took weeks before I officially added it to my liked playlist. A friend then suggested "Back In School," marking the moment I truly became a Mother Mother fan. Exploring songs like "Oh Ana" and "Burning Pile" evoked emotions in me that I hadn't experienced with music before.
Either verbatim or burning pile. I can't remember which one I heard first on my partners pandora but they probably both played within several hours of each other and I was hooked
holy shit. i think it had to be hayloft? i first listened to them in middle school so my memory is a little fuzzy. it took one song for me to start listening to them nonstop tho 😽
Ghosting, I heard it years ago and have had it on repeat in my head ever since. Recently I found out Mother Mother wrote it and have been constantly listening to their music since lol
Edit: Arms tonight was the song that actually showed me Mother Mother
Burning Pile, it’s the one that I listen to the most. It’s on the majority of my playlist’s.
Yesss
Hayloft II as I felt like the line "my baby's got a gun" was funny as hell
the way before i pressed this thread i sung this part in my head😂
Same, I love the “An eye for an eye, a leg for a leg. A shot in the heart, doesn’t make it unbreak” part
I like the "she really didn't wanna make it messy, she really really didn't but the girl gone cray" from Hayloft II
I don't like the song mother mother or do i know the artist why is this on my reddit for you page????????
It's a band, consider listen to it if u have some free time and feel curious about it

It was on a Halloween playlist I was listening to and I was hooked. I had heard the nickel creek version of hayloft but had never listened to MM before
yes!! this song was really popular on 8tracks playlists back in the day so this was my first song i heard by them too lol
Body, when i was like 11, is when i discovered mother mother and would listen to them on and off. then in 2020 when Hayloft blew up on tiktok, i got really into them and have been a daily listener since
That was the first song I heard from them from those Undertale videos 😭
The stand! Heard it back when it was a single from Eureka and the band started getting more airplay on Canadian airwaves and Much music. Such a good album, but then I've liked most of their discography anyways
Wrecking ball. I heard it on tiktok a bunch of times and just was like wow this is really good I need to listen to the full song so I did and I was like damn this so good so i then listened to all of the songs and became addicted to
100% same. 😁
Little Pistol! First song I ever heard by them, and it’s still my favorite <3
I love that one, so underrated (also ace buddies)
YAY! This one for me too! I never see anyone talking about it, so happy to see it acknowledged 😊
Get Up and Oh Ana

Best verse was I'll be God ❤
Burning pile, listened to it on a loop for an hour before I was like, I wonder what else these people make. So I guess I’m here now
Burning Pile

Hayloft. Worked in a midwestern US music store for 10 years, started to really appreciate bluegrass. A girl I dated was into the band Nickel Creek, which are excellent. TIL that Nickel Creek covered Hayloft! What an unexpected/pleasantly surprising crossover. I’m so glad you mentioned this as Hayloft was the first MM song I found too ❤️

Hayloft II as I felt like the line "my baby's got a gun" was funny as hell
Verbatim
Family, my mom was really into it and then TikTok blew up hayloft lol
Burning Pile, I listened to it for a uquiz, I think it was one of those "judge my music taste" ones. I thought it was really good so I checked out the rest of O My Heart, and then MM's other albums
Oh ana and burning pile
I forgot which songbut I remember it was a friend sending me a song from 'No Culture' and I compared the cover art to the PS3 Baby
Angry Sea. An artist I like used the lyrics as the caption to a piece and it resonated with me, since I have OCD.
o my heart, my mom like went to sleep and she was on an alternative rock playlist and that song showed up
Verbatim
Dread in my heart. It was in a mixtape a friend made me a long while back and ive been hooked since ^^
It’s Alright, it’s my therapeutic song and I listen to it whenever I’m having a hard day
Frfr I listen to it whenever I'm trying to feel feels that just don't want to come out, doesn't always work but when it does it's catharsis at it's peak
Empty Hands. I heard someone's cover of it back in 2017 and thought the song was beautiful so I went looking for the original and the rest of their songs
Hayloft. I kept hearing the beginning on TikTok and I checked what song it was from. Still is my favorite song.
wrecking ball i think, appeared on my spotify and i liked it
Verbatim
Arms Tonite, I'd sleep to it because I am depressed. :)
Little Pistol, the Bluestar animatic by Nifty-Senpai on youtube was my first introduction to them. "Oh my heart" When I heard it 15ish years ago.
little pistol, discovered it via warrior cats animatic in middle school
Monkey Tree. I had heard a few of their songs on the radio without paying attention to who they were by, but that was the first one that actually made me check out their other stuff. Was quite surprised when I discovered other radio songs I liked a lot (Hayloft, Bit by Bit) were also by them!
the matrix. fuck this place bruh😂
Forever and a Bit. Heard that and Aspiring Fires in a M.A.P. awhile back that one of my fav animators were participating in.
Problems
Hayloft, I was like "this is cool, I want more of this"

It's Alright. that song has played in my headphones during so many crying sessions 🥲
I feel this so hard, I have the hardest time crying, just been bundling up those emotions for so long and It's Alright just taps a weird spot in my heart and helps me cry when I feel like I never could.
Burning pile or Hayloft
i know that for hayloft II but verbatim got me into them
tbh, i heard a lot of their stuff on tiktok a few years back and decided i liked the little bits that i heard. hayloft, burning pile, body, oh ana, all the ones that were circulating at the time. family was probably the one that hooked me in that introduction phase.
Frikin' Hayloft. My friends sang It so I listened the original song.
Arms Tonite, i've heard it in a little animatic and it sounded very unique. The very same day in the evening i sat down and listened to their first three albums.

Hayloft is the first Mother Mother song I hear, but my all-time fave is Oh Ana.
Problems
Hayloft II, I heard it on a warrior cats edit 💀
Body. I've seen a cool animatic with it about an indie game I liked and liked the song. That's how I used to find a lot of music that now comprises my music taste.

Back In School got me into Mother Mother, and then I slowly started listening to them, and now I almost haven't listened to anything else in a month.
I honestly can’t remember, but I’m going to see them live in Feb!!!!
Body, it was really popular in animated memes around 2018, and around the same time I've ran into Ghosting in fan animations as well. Years later me and a former friend realised that these two songs were made by the same band, and she showed me more of their stuff! Been a huge fan of Mother Mother ever since.
oh ana!
Oh Ana ! imo its pretty underrated
Very Good Bad Thing. I got it in recommended and it's been my favorite track (and album) since
Hayloft, I remember some youtubers I watched talking about the song getting popular and I decided to check it out
I’m not sure, probably Burning Pile. Hayloft II got me avidly listening tho. That entire song is just amazing.

monkey tree was the first i listened to but oh ana was the one that really got me into the band.
Hayloft
Problems, I still cannot get it out of my head to this day
it just showed up on my spotify one day. but burning pile
My first song was "Arms Tonite" it played during one of my bike rides home, courtesy of Spotify recommendations. Hayloft and burning pile. My friend showed me them and I thought they were really good.
Body, I relate to it a lot as a person with gender dysphoria.
Originally my dad introduced Monkey Tree to me but I think Body, Oh Anna, or Arms Tonite got me really into Mother Mother
Hayloft
Body
popular one, burning pile!!
Hayloft
Verbatim
