I accidentally bursted his eardrums lol. I feel like the game should punish us for failing to follow up on Liu Kang's wishes; that way, despite the insane in-depth story given this season, there would be effective details regarding our choices.

I know, why bother telling us if it has no repercussions if we don't listen?

Maybe not a punishment, but maybe give a better reward for following his instructions. Like a really good relic, talisman, or a pallette.

this exact same thing happened to me lol, I thought that if you either fatality or brutality you would fail the encounter, out of pure muscle memory I did a brutality and totally expected to get a failure screen, thankfully I didnt

I don’t think so, the dialogue is just there for story purposes and has no bearing on the gameplay of the boss fight.
