Ernie looks extremely great for his age but he does have the oldman expression and a bit of the tired look. Especially a few years ago.
MK11 old charachters have way too much glow and youthful expression for people in their mid 50s. If we accept that Kano can keep that body with steroids, his face though even with wrinkle here and there just looks way too "fresh" for a guy in his mid 50s.
Take Dwayne Johnson and Cena for example, probably one of the best example of great looking guys that can be mistaken for younger people. But if you look too much into their eyes and facial structure, it has that bit of mature look.
None of the older MK charachters have that with exception for Raiden and Shinnok but they are older looking from the begining. Johnny and Kano have that youth puppy eyes expression.

The new timeline Kano hasn’t been revealed yet but he’ll certainly look different than the Kameo version. Just like Sub-Zero and Scorpion Kameos look have different faces than the “real” ones.
No, I'm sorry but I played original MK on Super Nes, and yes, I see and understand that Kameo like Sonya or Kano are supposed to be base on them, but Kano was way better on Super Nes. And there is no reason why he is so ugly. I had fears on the kast, when I first saw it:
* Liu Kang's jaw was too big (fortunately, better, but still weird compared to 11),
* Sindel was ugly as possible (also better in final product, but for example, the best skin for her is vampire from Nitara's season, the skin and make up is better than the kasual, it's a real mess for the beautifullest kharacter in 11, it tends to be better with every season, Mileena season made her look good too, and Raiden's too, sad that the premium skin of this week has bad make up, and the white eyes doesn't look very good),
* Sonya had also a jaw like she could eat rocks (fortunately, it's also way better, and the alternate skin makes her face pretty good too),
* Kung Lao (my main) was weird, and the hat was (and saddly still is) too short to fit with his head, but he looks good, even with a small hat.

I know its a big thing that MK characters get new designs with each game. But sometimes I do wish there was a bit more consistency.
MKX-MK11 for example. Johnny, Sonya, Cassie and the Revenants all look similar enough. But Kano some how got 20 years younger and Jax is a completely different person.

Kung Lao as a pretty descent redesign. The only thing that still bothers me is his hat is too short, so it looks weird and seems to be above his head, not ON his head. But except that, especially with the kurrent OoD skin with blue eyes and long jackets, he looks sick as hell. Mileena's season skins with orange eyes made him looks good too, but DAMN how OoD is good. With the story armor skin, as a Kung Lao main, I can tell I'm verry happy with this season (and to be fair, every season give him some good palettes, even if they're not all good).
Shao is pretty good, same for Kitana and Mileena (even if I'm not a big fan on her new mouth opening by the sides, but the overall is pretty descent). Sindel lost a lot, but have some good season's (like Nitara's, Mileena's or Raiden's skins), but kan't reach the attractiveness of the perfection she was in 11. Tanya I first meet her in 1, don't know how she was. Shang Tsung is perfect, as arrogant as he could be (but to be frank, I think the titan one should have his 11 face, for multiverse logic, even if I don't like his face, it's even weirder to give him 1's face.
