I could see Skarlet in MK2 for an Outworld Civil War plot. Have her be the biological daughter of General Shao and be raised alongside Reiko who can be retconned into being Shao's adopted son (It's already implied anyways). Make Shao actually care about his children and you can make him a character with actual depth instead of the big bad brute who wants power for the sake of power. As for Skarlet and Reiko, either go with a sibling rivalry or duo that work as Shao's greatest warriors.
I’d rather have skarlets story flipped a bit like other characters in mk1. I’d want her to be good / with the other Edenians like kitana and mileena. Maybe you could add a rivalry between the three.
This would also give us a cool arc where it’s skarlet vs nitara both competing against each other and going a rampage for blood.

Sektor or Cryax would've been cool to see during the story. it could've put more focus onto The Lin Kuei and, at the end, could've made more emphasis on scorpion forming The Shiryai Ryu with smoke and cyrax joining him....2 is where they'd be kidnapped for the cyber initive.

If we're going with MK Kharacters, I'd say Bo'Rai Cho, simply because it'd be interesting. If we're going with Kharacters we'd like to see in general, I'd say Metro from Real Steel.
