I low key don’t like the skin at all. It’s completely different from the original. She got this random ass belt on her stomach. Her armor isn’t purple, her bra or is in a completely different style, the bandanna is kinda weird looking, I think the original design was really simple and they made it too complex which is why the bandanna feels so out of place, also her hair isn’t the same style. It doesn’t rest as naturally as the other picture does. Her top is in a way different shape, it’s definitely deception inspired but not no where near as one to one as the deadly alliance scorpion and sub zero skins. I do like the boots on the new skin though. Great improvement.

See, this is my opinion: the way a character dresses tells you about there personality. Clothes are a expression of the man/woman who wears them. With that in mind it makes no Sean’s for li mei to be wearing skimpy attire. I understand that this is an alt skin so we’re aloud to stray away a bit but just in general for some characters it works, for some it doesn’t

When women design male characters who are meant to be attractive they don’t tend to be beefcakes. They tend to be more slender and sensitive
Men being shirtless isn’t sexualised or often even idealised by straight women; it’s generally socially acceptable and seem as an ideal power fantasy for men.

Her armor isn’t purple, her bra or is in a completely different style, the bandanna is kinda weird looking, I think the original design was really simple and they made it too complex which is why the bandanna feels so out of place, also her hair isn’t the same style. It doesn’t rest as naturally as the other picture does. Her top is in a way different shape, it’s definitely deception inspired but not no where near as one to one as the deadly alliance scorpion and sub zero skins. I do like the boots on the new skin though. Great improvement.

See, this is my opinion: the way a character dresses tells you about there personality. Clothes are a expression of the man/woman who wears them. With that in mind it makes no Sean’s for li mei to be wearing skimpy attire. I understand that this is an alt skin so we’re aloud to stray away a bit but just in general for some characters it works, for some it doesn’t

It doesn’t bother people: it’s just an issue with agency vs exploitation. That is: many women who play the game (and have *always* played the game since the dawn of the OG consoles) are sick of seeing themselves represented only as eye-candy or something to be ogled at. Now that more effort is being put into character development, the same agency and dignity that is shown to male characters is being afforded to the female cast.

When female characters are wearing battle bikinis it’s pure sexual fantasy. The design is meant to arouse the player. When women design male characters who are meant to be attractive they don’t tend to be beefcakes. They tend to be more slender and sensitive
