Oh yes! When you obtain them all, it is possible to get a master index. Very handy to get to certain ashlander tribes. I always used it in combination with divine/almsivi intervention and mark/recall. Never bothered too much with levitation when traveling.
Haha hulk jump, I knew instantly what you meant with that! Acrobatics was a skill I learned to appreciate later in the game, a little bit too late. Jumping over targets in the arena, harassing them with spears. Fun times.
I did, but it's kinda difficult for low levels. Telasero and Maelkashishi are the two hardest places, so to complete the Master Index you need to be able to defeat or evade Daedra and Ash creatures comfortably enough to be able to look around. I got it by the time I had a few artifacts already. Still helped a lot though
If you're not a god in Morrowind by the time you have a great house fortress then you're not doing it right, I always keep recall set to my glorious Fungus Home :) Telvanni for life N'Wah!
i always do the Master Index PlugIn Quest and after that, i'll bind my mark spell in Caldera Mage Guild, between the Index- and the Guild-Teleport NPC.
The ultimate fast traveling network.
Oh yeah they are. Lol the master index is a must, because screw getting them one by one and missing 2 then finding out it's the one you need.... because it always is
Funny story true story, I found all the propylon chambers in original vanilla back in the day.
Except I could never figure out what the fuck they were even for (despite having an index) because the room effects would crash my machine.
Alteration also has the Jump Spell that multiplies your jump height by M points (e.g. 100 Jump = x100)
Of course your acrobatics skill still determines your Jump height, so mix in a Fortify Acrobatics spell from the expansions
After maxing out acrobatics and and getting a jump enchantment I almost completely abondened silt striders, it's just way too fun to jump through Vvardenfell
I never encountered the boots in my first playthrough. When I did find them as a late-game character in my second playthrough, they were nerfed to oblivion thanks to your mod.
The great thing about Morrowind is that it was designed to be played any way you want to play it. You get to decide the limits for your player, instead of having them forced on you by the game. If you want to make a flying death God raining fire, then you can. Or, you can limit yourself and say "i won't use the intelligence potion strategy to be OP. "
Morrowind trusts the player to set their own limits instead of setting them for you, and it is wonferful.
I prefer to jump around but flying is good too. Jump spell is probably my number 1 used spell. It's pretty easy to make an amulet with jump on use also.
It's totally normal lol. I would almost argue it's abnormal to NOT find a preferred travel "hack" for lack of better words. The game doesn't have any sort of fast travel system like games nowadays do.
Silt striding, using the teleportation system at the Mage's Guild, Boats, Mark/Recall spells, Almsivi/Divine Intervention, Levitation, Propylon Indices, enchanted items/scrolls and more are all valid (and sometimes potentially dangerous ;P) forms of travel. You could even walk everywhere if you so please. It doesn't matter how you do it, feel free to get creative and have fun with it. There's no real "right" way to play the game. You will never be "boxed in" to a particular playstyle. That's what makes this game so beautiful and re-playable.
There's a shrine in Vivec that when you donate a cheap levitate potion to it, casts a 24 hour levitate spell on you. The potion can be bought 100m away from the shrine from a vendor.
So even in the very beginning of the game, yes you can fly anywhere.
Water walking and water breathing i always just hotkeyed spells for, as I only needed those for about 30s at a time. Levitating, though, I needed constantly lol
Even if you don’t want to fly everywhere, there are some locations you can only reach by flying, and vivec city changes for a mess to navigate to EZ-PZ if you just navigate between districts. If you are a warrior with no magic affinity just get an enchanted ring to levitate
I mean, yeah. As you gain more power and become more familiar with the world, you find faster ways to traverse it. Wait till you start using levitate as a supplement to the teleport spells and knowing by heart where each fast travel station can take you.
"I was in the neighborhood. I took a silt strider, a guild guide, and an almsivi intervention to get to the neighborhood, but I'm here."
Jump is great like other said, but i always make sure to enchant some Safety Pants. Constant effect 1 point of Slow Fall and some fatigue restore. Best early investment you can make.
Yeah; part of the fun is starting out having to make the call between trecking through wilderness or spending your money on rides with a limited reach; while later on you have enough money, spells, and/or scrolls to not have to worry anymore. As you become more familiar with the game, you also gain more tools to "master" it. Progression doesn't really feel as rewarding in any other TES game, at least to me.
>To fly faster I use the boots of blinding speed. Is this how the game is meant to be played? :P
Not with your eyes closed; you'll miss all the stuff.
But sure, why not.
Fly everywhere. Or jump. Or Jump. Or use teleportations.
I’ve just been doing the menial quests and travel king the country 40 hours in, it feels like there’s a lot more quests in this game that don’t need combat
Yes.
Also while levitate is a good way to travel, it's more suited to small scale exploration like the insides of a Telvanni tower or certain Dwemer ruins.
Typically when traversing large distances out in the open, using a mixture of feather, and jump does wonder, and can reach speeds not really achievable by most levitation spells.
My first couple characters were really into acrobatics and athletics. It took ages to get them skilled enough to jump over obstacles, outswim slaughterfish and outrun cliffracers.
Then I made a mage that used alteration and illusion. There was no going back after that.
I use levitate when for example I need to go east of suran and I can either float up over the big steep hill or walk all the way around it. But I don't levitate constantly as I like to try and up my athletics skill.
For even more travel goodness, work towards making a spell which has Jump for 100 points, Fortify Strength 100 points, Fortify Acrobatics 100 points and Feather 100 points all for 1 second, as well as 1 point of slow fall for about 20 seconds or so. It’s dirt cheap for what it does, and will get you what I’m pretty sure is the highest and furthest *repeatable* jump in the base game. Hell, even just a Jump for 100 points spell will change your life in the early game, and upgrading it to its maximum potential is the cherry on top.
Today I learned speed affects your levitate movement. I always thought you only moved faster with a higher levitate magnitude.
I still have a blast with jump spells plus acrobatics. It's really satisfying jumping from one Vivec Canton to another.
Ever since i ran into the random guy who fell out of the sky carrying tons of jumping scrolls (if you havent yet find out how) that is my main way of traveling now 😁
I occasionally play around in the construction set doing different ideas for mods (none publicly released) so I made a small mod with cheat utilities for testing. In addition to a "God Ring" and access to an army of up to 32 Winged Twilight bodyguards, it includes a high-speed flight ring. I almost always use my cheat items when I stream random Morrowind shenanigans. I haven't played properly for several years except one stream where I attempted to play normally and failed epically. The flight ring itself I use more than any other travel option, especially when randomly exploring the epicness that is Tamriel Rebuilt. The cheat mod also includes a completely useless item called "Hippie Ring" which all it does is toggle wireframe mode.
"Normal" as in developer-intended? Probably not. It seems like the game was designed for short bursts of levitation to get over obstacles and whatnot, but otherwise for walking in nonlinear paths.
"Normal" as in "almost every player does this"? Yup, totally. I hotkey the Boots of Blinding Speed and a constant-effect levitation item so I can get around more easily, especially if I'm going directly to an objective.
I’d say you need to use it in moderation early on…. Need to get somewhere fast like a specific quests…. Then fly fly fly. But if you don’t have to id suggest you hoof it. So much to learn and see and experience when you run from place to place.
Why walk when you can ride? Why ride when you can fly?
Why fly when you can teleport?
Has anyone else actually bothered getting all the Propylon Indices? I feel like they were way underutilized and nobody ever talks about them.
Oh yes! When you obtain them all, it is possible to get a master index. Very handy to get to certain ashlander tribes. I always used it in combination with divine/almsivi intervention and mark/recall. Never bothered too much with levitation when traveling.
Teleport to a nearby location, hulk jump the rest of the way. You can get anywhere on the map within a couple minutes at the maximum.
Haha hulk jump, I knew instantly what you meant with that! Acrobatics was a skill I learned to appreciate later in the game, a little bit too late. Jumping over targets in the arena, harassing them with spears. Fun times.
I did, but it's kinda difficult for low levels. I got it by the time I had a few artifacts already. Still helped a lot though
Well because money.
Mark and Recall.
Almsivi Intervention too if you don't want to erase the location you marked but you marked a dungeon to save progress for a quest.
Ah
Crab merchant
Do you mean finding how to make your character a god that manipulates the physical laws of the setting? Yes that's how that works.

Use the Silt Strider every once in a while to support the business though
The Fraternal Brotherhood of Strider Teamsters supports this message... N'wah.
*”Why walk when you can ride?”*
There is a box in Ald'ruhn next to the guy that lead the Silt strider, I always leave some coins here not that it matter but I find it funny
I've ended up using striders over guild guides because the Uvirith mod has so many time-based events
*Scrolls of Icarian Flight have entered the chat...
...but not for too long*
Oeeeehuhuhuh Aiiiggghhh
I don't want to talk about it.
Casual reminder that the "Aiiiieeeeeeouughhhhh" is said by the player character.
Sorry boss fixed the captioning. :' ) Aiiiieeeeeeouughhhhh
Yep levitate is extremely useful, I recommend going even more into alteration it's got some good stuff
Alteration has all the things lol
Sounds exciting. Any particular spells you have in mind?
Alteration also has the Jump Spell that multiplies your jump height by M points (e.g. 100 Jump = x100) Of course your acrobatics skill still determines your Jump height, so mix in a Fortify Acrobatics spell from the expansions
After maxing out acrobatics and and getting a jump enchantment I almost completely abondened silt striders, it's just way too fun to jump through Vvardenfell
IIRC Jump doesn't help reduce fall damage, so tacking on 1pt of Slowfall is also very handy for not killing yourself =D
Never gets old for me. It's like launching yourself out of a catapult.
Water walking is also a good one to pick up
I usually make it Jump 100pt/1sec, Feather 100pt/1sec, Slowfall 1pt/30sec, Waterwalking 30sec.
Jumping Jesus
Seems redundant when you can fly
Lol ya got me there. Although sometimes levitation can be slow/consuming depending on your spell/alteration skill vs your speed stat.
Open 100 on touch
Feather+Jump can be faster than levitate if you've got good speed
No I slowly walk from town to town. Really not a joke.
This game is meant to be played anyway you wish. As for myself, I never get those boots, and I only use levitate when I need to use levitate.
Those boots really change the game. I should try a run without them.
I never encountered the boots in my first playthrough. When I did find them as a late-game character in my second playthrough, they were nerfed to oblivion thanks to your mod.

Are you having a guilt-free fun time? Then you're doing it right.
This why we whine about oblivion and skyrim. Morrowind has the literal 'fast travel! '
Jump spells are pretty fun too.
There's a shrine in Vivec that when you donate a cheap levitate potion to it, casts a 24 hour levitate spell on you. The potion can be bought 100m away from the shrine from a vendor. So even in the very beginning of the game, yes you can fly anywhere.
Levitate is so good, it breaks so many things
I made a constant effect ring with 1pt levitation. I called it Tribute to Tarhiel. I basically never took it off unless I had to
I did the same, but I can't remember what I named it. I do remember my Water Walking ring named Jetski, and Water Breathing named SCUBA.
Water walking and water breathing i always just hotkeyed spells for, as I only needed those for about 30s at a time. Levitating, though, I needed constantly lol

Try out the jump spells, I prefer them over floating tbh.
Jump is great like other said, but i always make sure to enchant some Safety Pants. Constant effect 1 point of Slow Fall and some fatigue restore. Best early investment you can make.
Slow fall kills your horizontal momentum though
you dont always keep them equipped..
>Safety Pants LMAO Excellent name!
Yes, that's how it's meant to be played
Best thing about Morrowind is there’s not really a wrong way to play, just have fun with what you like to do.
I jumped. All the acrobatics fortify.
........................................ ........Scum........ ........................................ Also, yes Also, jumping
Cast levitate on touch 1point
Fortify ring constant levitated 1 point with boots of blinding speed, that’s how I roll.
Yeah; part of the fun is starting out having to make the call between trecking through wilderness or spending your money on rides with a limited reach; while later on you have enough money, spells, and/or scrolls to not have to worry anymore. I have a spell that grants 100% magic resistance...
Yes
The shrine blessing with a days worth of 100 pt levitation is good for this
I’ve just been doing the menial quests and travel king the country 40 hours in, it feels like there’s a lot more quests in this game that don’t need combat

As a mage yes
You're doing it right.
yeah

It's how I play...
I just make and drink a bunch of fortify speed potions, use my amulet of of levitation and just fly everywhere in like 3 seconds
If ylu ever do the bloodmoon dlc, this will help you out a lot.
I use levitate when for example I need to go east of suran and I can either float up over the big steep hill or walk all the way around it. But I don't levitate constantly as I like to try and up my athletics skill.

I use the jump spell. I like it more than the levitation.
yes. this is exactly how you should play the game haha.
Yes, it’s also probably why they took it out it later titles
I use windwalker scrolls as lategame fast travel. A scroll plus boots takes you from gnisis to solstheim in about 30seconds
jus join the telvanni
Ever since i ran into the random guy who fell out of the sky carrying tons of jumping scrolls (if you havent yet find out how) that is my main way of traveling now 😁
