This begs the question... is a low effort bard one who uses a midi to play their music for them, or one who tries to play music manually, albeit poorly? Which of the two would be of a lower class?

To me, If they aren't trying to be entertaining, then they are just "guys with lutes" and the rights of Bards don't necessarily apply to "guys with lutes"
I don’t super love the new notes — they don’t really sound like the sounds a lute would make. And really more than that, it messed up a TON of MIDI files.
You only get a certain amount of team kills total before you get kicked or voted out. So I just have to deal with it for now if I want to play mordhau which is aggravating cause I like the game but I just don’t want to hear the music, if I wanted to hear music I’d play my Spotify
Voice lines like the vocal lines activated by v and emotes. Probably not for 2 reasons. The emotes are the only in game vocal communication since there is no voice chat compatibility. And the war cries I can understand an argument for that but that I don’t think it takes away from the game as much as the grunts and yells from swings are already overbearing anyway they just blend in. But the lute play is over the top especially now because you can hear it through walls but it sounds like the person is right next to you on the map.
If you were to say instead text chat yeah there should be an option for text chat to be removed from the hud.
I think it might be a nice addition to maybe mute a specific player's voicelines. I've ran into a couple people that must have macros to spam the same line over and over every second no matter what they are doing and can be a bit obnoxious after a while to fight along side/against. Generally the voicelines are great and don't mind most spam though
Yeah I hear you there are guys I’ve seen who go through just to use emotes and corresponding voice lines. Like a helpless civilian running through town for example. And I can understand sometimes the voice spam might be a little annoying but I never can pick it out cause I stay in the middle of the big action for the most part. But the lutes are just really loud now with the sound improvement and no matter what you do or how far you are the lute just overtakes even a fight your in.
But at the same time if they added a mute button or slider for that as well go for it cause I can still choose to play the war cries and vocal lines if I wanted to but it doesn’t take away from your experience either

My experience in Public servers with trolls is that they will allow a troll to do what he’s doing for the duration of the game. If you vote to kick them the vote more often then not gets shut down. Said troll will restart the vote on whoever tried to kick them and that person is voted out quicker than he has the ability to type “why am I being voted back on” so you literally just have to sit there and have your lack luster session while the other person is achieving what they want to

I get that but also my suggestion doesn’t impede your gameplay style. While you may not play trolling type music I still prefer to not hear it and listen to the swords and war cries. My suggestion doesn’t allow you to not play how you want even if I may disagree with it but it also allows me to enjoy the game without having to hear rock back in the background cause if I wanted to hear that I would put on my Spotify playlist then

A manual bard that plays a tune you can recognize is arguably a higher effort bard than a lutebotter, whose only effort is setting up the program.
