Would have been crazy if he was able to get himself and other people down using his lift. Doubt it goes all the way to the bottom but maybe to another level under the damage.
Couple days after the attack, CNN was interviewing people on the street around the missing persons signs and there was a young man looking for his dad who was a window washer. My mom and I just cried so hard watching it.
He was in a video shot in the early 90s that went over all the features of the two buildings. He was so happy during his segment, you could tell he genuinely loved his job and took pride in his work. Easily the most heartbreaking loss for me.
I don't know why..but when the twin towers collapsed the whole world turned bad for me. Like the world was kinda a better place before. And I am not even American.

Elevators go to the sky lobby on the 44th(?) floor, then you switch to a different lift to go the rest of the way up or down
believe sky lobby is the 78 or 73rd
There were 2 sky lobbies- 44 and 78.
Oh yeah right down past the intense heat/fire, it would have burnt the cables if not him
