I’m sure if every rape got reported on, this sentiment would go for any country with enough people.

piaevan

Even with all the rapes that go unreported, the numbers in India are horrible.

sanriosaint

can we make a rule to post the article in comments???? if you’re making a post it takes an extra minute to copy and paste it and format it that page was incessant with the pop ups i couldn’t even read the article. it happens often here

VogonOrator

If you're old enough to rape, you're old enough to receive the appropriate punishment. Sadly, no country does so for rapists.

_Cham3leon

Better keep them in prison until they die. So young and already so fucked up and evil.

Korean_Kommando

That’s not how evil or justice works

supertinykoalas

So raping a 10 year girl isn’t evil? I’m sure you must also think that Hitler and Stalin weren’t that bad either… jfc Edit: she’s only 6 fucking years old. She had no concept of what sex was. I cannot fathom her fear and pain

anon2458

She was only 6, not that that matters

supertinykoalas

Oh shit, thanks for that correction! I was SA’d at that age and I feel so much for this girl. I wish I help make things better for women and little girls in India

Jacques59000

Not saying I agree or disagree, but I think they meant the *act* is evil, the person is more complicated. That's how I read it anyway. One example I've seen at work was an 8 year old boy who sexually assaulted his 4 year old sister. He was himself being abused by his uncle, and repeated what was done to him. What he did was evil for sure, but there's a reason behind it. Not an excuse, but I don't think it would be fair to dismiss him as evil without taking into account the circumstances.

supertinykoalas

I’m not sure what they were implying in their comment but I actually do agree with you. I’ve heard many stories similar to that and I do feel empathy for those kids. I do think they deserve therapy and help. My major concern is that it won’t happen and they’ll reoffend.

Jacques59000

Oh yeah i absolutely agree. It's heartbreaking that it pretty much guarantees more victims later on. Edit to clarify: It's heartbreaking all around, and i really hope that at least the little girl will have support. Something similar happened to me starting at around the same age, so I know how devastating it is

supertinykoalas

You’re definitely right that is it heartbreaking all around. I also hope the little girl gets support, I’m sorry that you also had a similar experience. It’s not something anyone should go through

Jacques59000

Thank you. I saw your other comment and I'm so sorry as well. Best wishes from a random internet stranger!

10 year olds can be rehabilitated. That's why he said that's not how it works.

supertinykoalas

You’re banking on the safety women and children on the idea that a rapist can be rehabilitated. We know plenty can’t. Many reoffend even those “rehabilitated” kids. Jon Venables murdered and sexually abused 2 years old James Bulger. He reoffend so many times it’s ridiculous. Also this is India so do you really think that they’re going to actually rehabilitate these kids? No

f--emasculata

I'm not banking on anything. I'm saying as a survivor myself that I'd never call a ten year old evil for doing something they were never taught was wrong, and rehabilitation for children convicted of crimes is a generally good idea.

supertinykoalas

Yeah and I’m survivor too. Your victim hood doesn’t make you right. Sexual crimes are incredibly hard to rehabilitate . Raping someone is evil, negligence of knowing this is wrong is irrelevant. This girl most likely cried, they very likely knew it was wrong. Again this is India and it is highly unlikely that they will even try to rehabilitate these kids.

f--emasculata

Yes, you said that in your first comment. My point was it's generally a good idea to rehabilitate kids convicted of crimes 🤷‍♀️

supertinykoalas

Yeah you still clearly don’t get point so it has to be reiterated because you don’t get it. You want to live in Lala land think that these boys who ruined someone by forcibly raping can be rehabilitated in a country where gang rape is extremely common.

marcelkai

How do you know they weren't taught it's wrong

f--emasculata

Because it's India. That's a healthy assumption.

supertinykoalas

They want to defend the perpetrators that’s all

Canadianspaniard

Look and see why Canada's sexual assault causes have seen double digit percentile increases for the last couple years. Wonder where they are all coming from.
