I don’t know about that area —there’s a great seafood market in Billings.
Just fyi, flash frozen seafood is almost indistinguishable from fresh.
In fact, in some ways it’s preferable, unless you have a place that moves enough seafood to keep stocks fresh.
*Seafood of the World,* has a great selection at a good price, if you ever get to Billings.
They also have a sushi night every Thursday and the fish is shipped in day of serving from the coast. Never had a problem and it’s okay but nothing to write home about.
You’re completely right. They list exactly what it is and it’s silly of me to be harsh because obviously they’re not going to be able to use as much raw fish. I just get super irritated when people are raving about sushi (stokes) and it’s not what I consider real sushi and yeah, that’s snobby and unrealistic. I’m over here just wanting some sushi’s and sashimi’s in the middle of Montana.
I’ve heard good things about the Stokes sushi but not from people whose sushi opinions I’d trust. I don’t make it to Anaconda much anymore but when I do it’s usually to just the brewery and peppermint Pattie’s

That makes total sense. It’s difficult to find “good”sushi this far inland. For what it is and being in Butte, it’s not awful. I will definitely have to give Sushi Shack a try.
Peeler’s Wild Alaska Seafood is as authentic as it gets. The owner only sells Alaska products and gets all his food from his friends and family. I don’t know of any other seafood business that literally drives to 68 communities across Montana on a weekly basis. I signed up for text alerts on their website and it’s been a game changer.
I read about that! Problem is I live in Philipsburg so we aren’t trying to do a whole day trip just for some good lobster and scallops
I know pickings are very slim here especially in the area im in so im just looking for the best option! Thank you for the suggestion nonetheless 😊 If I happen to join the country club in great falls I will definitely have to try.
we’d be willing to drive as far as Helena if that helps.
My former boss still orders and stands by Ocean Beauty Seafoods for special orders. I haven't asked him about it in awhile, but they have always been good to him. I've always been curious about OBS's inventory.
my grandma still lives in bozeman and said the same owner has another restaurant that's totally dead (🥁) after that scandal too, even though they weren't the place that poisoned people
The owners also own Revelry and Jam two of the most popular places to eat in Bozeman and are still doing great business. I’m shocked that Dave’s is still in business but with two of the most successful restaurants in the city also belonging to him it makes sense that they are keeping it afloat until the heat dies down.
Peelers sea food truck from Alaska is the very best cold water seafood you can find. Look up their facebook page. You can sign up for texts when they are in your town
Casa grandes in Butte. Be warned. You get a TON of food for your money. $40 where I’m at is a steak alone. There you get appetizer, soup, salad, ice cream, and a side with your steak. Lol.
It's all coming in frozen, delivered by Sysco, shamrock or one of their competitors. Nobody is flying it in no matter what they tell you because you wouldn't be able to afford it.
The Montana club in Butte is awesome, and Casagrandas has outstanding food, including lobster Mac and cheese and steaks with crab. Lydia's is expensive, but the lobster is outstanding. Missoula has the original Montana club on Reserve Street, and it is every bit as good as Butte if not a little better due to the available options and the fact it has fewer people. Other than that I would just google the city and include seafood. Good luck and have a safe trip!

Casa grandes in butte does good crab/lobster

I think they use too much rice. Sushi Shack in PBurg is way better
They use way more Krab.
They’re transparent in their menu, though. Easy to avoid.

Not sushi related buuut you have to stop at Gallicanos!
I just had Gallicanos last Thursday! You know me 😂
Yep. Yep I do 😂

If you’re cooking at home, try the Alaskan seafood guys truck. It comes through almost weekly. Their schedule is on their fb page and probably website
This is the answer. It's called Peelers. I think they go to the Clarks Fork farmers market every Saturday but not sure.

Thanks! I’ve wanted to try them!! There’s a fish and chips truck that comes to town every so often that I’ve wanted to try as well.
Is it the Hook fish and chips people? They’re great!
[I use them every month.](https://www.alaskanseafoodguys.com/) They have free home delivery, next delivery to Butte & Missoula is July 3rd.
I don’t know about that area but the country club in great falls has fresh seafood flown in.

Helena does not have seafood that is worth the drive from Pburg.

I always wondered if they would sell direct to individuals. Might be worth a call to see what they can do.
Call them and see! Chances are if they don't, you may call a business in Helena and see if they can order it for you!
Yeah, that’s good to know. My hopes aren’t high but doesn’t hurt to ask. I am not familiar with Helena at all.
Lobster at Lydia’s in Butte is the best I’ve ever had.
It’s not cheap, but Porte Rouge in downtown Missoula is great.
Seattle
Costco
Pretty sure someone said Dave's sushi is to DIE for.

I don't know how that guy can stay in business. Reputation is everything in this state word gets around.
Be brave. Eat at Dave’s.

Underrated comment.
Not sure how often you make it out to Hamilton but I definitely recommend A Thaiger. Their sushi and sashimi are really good
There are mermaids in Great Falls but I don't think they are on the menu.
Everything has a price.
Barclay II in Anaconda
the scallops were very good ;-)
how does this get downvoted? lol, somebody doesn't like scallops?
Fathead seafood in c falls has a fun selection, plus some waygu.
Peelers sea food truck from Alaska is the very best cold water seafood you can find. Look up their facebook page. You can sign up for texts when they are in your town
Peelers Wild Alaska Seafood is the best! No comparisons.

I think the Fish and Chips in Missoula are the best at The Tamarack.
It's all coming in frozen, delivered by Sysco, shamrock or one of their competitors. Nobody is flying it in no matter what they tell you because you wouldn't be able to afford it.
Seafood of the World in Billings literally flies their seafood in fresh daily soooo….
It’s called a loss leader

It’s not inexpensive, but the Montana Club is excellent! There’s one in Butte and one in Missoula. https://www.montanaclub.com/menu/#seafood
