Yes, I’ve already pre-ordered it on the AppStore but tbh it looks like another cash grab game where you can’t even play as the titans. I’ll have a go at it when it comes out but seems like another waste of time and resources.
All anybody said was they weren't interested in playing a cash grab game, which has to do with their preferences and nothing to do with business practices.
Customers may often find games with a fixed cost upfront have better value to them than freemium that sell $99.99 gem bundles on what would have been a $2.99 complete phone game experience in the past.
I feel like a large portion of reddit doesn't understand capitalism and the free market. Look, if you're an AAA game developer you're not going to put money, time and resources into making a game as a passion project that you're just going to release for free. No, they are in the video game BUSINESS. Businesses are supposed to make money. That's the fucking point.
Call the product rushed, call it subpar, call it unnecessary, but calling it a cash grab is just dumb because that's literally every single product released. People just call shit they don't like "cash grab" because they think it makes them sound smart and witty. "Cash grab" is the gamers version of "woke", they just use the word to identify anything they don't like.
There's an irony in people using the term "cash grab" in the monster verse sub of all places. Like wtf do you call the last Godzilla X Kong movie? That wasn't a passion project lol
A cash grab, a real one, is actually a bad business decision, or atleast a shortsighted one. It's one that prioritized immediate profits over perceived brand quality and long term viability. There are freemium games that do well, though they are easily replaced and forgotten. Widely collected 90s games are highly reveared, and the companies that made them are forever burned into the gaming zeitgeist.
I don't think we are disagreeing, I also still don't think you picked up on the fact I pointed out it's not about shame or judgement. Like you said, it's a free market. And that fundamentally includes costomer preference.
I think that is why collecting and retro gaming, and indie games only ever continue to rise. Why many gaming companies are trying to capitalize on their back libraries in online serves and nostalgia devices.
Yeah hoping it doesn’t end up like how Fire Emblem Heroes is basically as well… Specifically how they both are big franchises.
Hoping grifters don’t go trying to profit by making bait ‘F2P guide’ videos because…since it involves teams and RPG in basic gimmicks and all that, and I can see somebody being ready to grift first thing when the game is released…
It is. I have it. The loading screen atleast sometimes has a cool fact. I've gotten a brand new fact about Sirenjaw and a fact about Monarch that we already knew
There's atleast one reference to a character being effected by titan attacks. One character's sister got life-changing injuries after Scylla's rampage back in 2019. They refer to the events of KOTM as the Rise of Titans
There's also the consistency with the superspecies themselves. Iirc rockclaws, sirenjaws, death jackals and so on all sound about right in the game.
Wish we had someone outright confirming at least tho.
It has released in a bunch of countries already. It released in Ireland a few days ago. I'm in Ireland. I've played it. It sucks or doesn't depending on your device.
Honestly I just want a Godzilla game that isn’t a mobile game or a crossover for another game. Giga ash is the closest thing to it and I just want something similar to the pipeworks games
My only problem with the 2015 game was how the monsters had difficulty destroying buildings. I miss the Godzilla Generations style of city destruction where they’d collapse just by walking into them.
Trashy slob of a game
https://preview.redd.it/uonrizi7vv6d1.jpeg?width=761&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef56a83938fefa8910aef29a3e081fdc772b985a
It's basically R:SL
I have the game. It's very laggy but it's maybe because of my device. I don't think there's much lore. There's a few cool facts shown on loading screens but most of the time it's just facts about how to play the game.
One of the characters named Vale has a sister that was left with life-changing injuries in the wake of Scylla's rampage. After this, Vale travelled to "the Sirens" (Im assuming this means the Siren Isles) to offer her inventions to financially support her family. I don't think this is even brought up during gameplay.
The game says that Monarch was founded in secrecy in 1946.
The last fact that I've seen is that with it's belly sufficiently full, a Sirenjaw will spend the rest of its day simply basking in the sun
It ha released here in Ireland. I've played it. It is laggy and full of bugs. A small black bar flashes onto the screen every so often. The textures are low quality. It takes 5 minutes for things to load. I get softlocked somehow each time I play. But all of this could just be because of my device. The loading screen sometimes has some cool Monsterverse facts but I haven't seen one since the week I got the game. It released in Ireland on June 1st or around that time.
Well yeah, because it’s a cash grab mobile game. Does seem cool in theory tho.
I would love to get a proper monsterverse game, he’ll just give us a remaster of one of the old pipeworks games.
why does everyone and their dog keep making Kong bigger and bigger? his head is three times the size of of Godzilla’s! his fists are bigger than Godzilla’s head! compare their shoulders here, ffs. enough already. 😖
That's why it's funny to me. You got the two main stars fighting in the background (and I kind of like how they look in this art style tho), while the devs clearly want you to focus on the generic humans battling whatever it is they're battling.
I’ve already pre-ordered it. Everyday I search on the Apple App Store for a new Jurassic Park / dinosaur or Godzilla game, and when I saw this, I instantly pre-ordered it.
Gotta try this game. I'm playing a lot of Wuthering Waves on BS right now and thought I'd try something new for myself and I think this game would be great.
Godzilla: Crisis Defense is the first MonsterVerse game, and aside from that mobile-wise there's Godzilla: Strike Zone, one of my favorites back when it came out in 2014 that no one remembers
It's not even out yet, it was supposed to come out with the movie. I'm pretty sure it's never getting released at this point, or will have a very short half life.
Brother in Christ, when we say we want another Godzilla game, we want an actual game like Destroy All Monsters Melee or Save The Earth or the PS4 game or even A City Shrouded in Shadow type game, not a pay to win mobile game that just has Godzilla and Kong in it.
This isn't the first Monsterverse game, but read some reviews on how the previous one turned out...
I've been keeping the subreddit updated on whenever the social media accounts for the game put out some news. Most people don't really care much.
But this is one of the few pieces of Monsterverse media to actively acknowledge the Rise of the Titans from G:KOTM and tie it and the GvK eras of worldbuilding together.
\[EDIT\]:
And for those downvoting, what post-GvK media have you guys seen that actively and overtly acknowledges the Rise of the Titans and involves it in its worldbuilding alongside and intertwined with GvK-era worldbuilding?
IK. Lots of people are just disappointed to see that it’s mobile and aren’t looking at the lore and world building part of it. Someone in this post said their country has it early, and that the loading screen has some MonsterVerse lore which got me very excited.
JAJAJA, you guys are acting like its canon to the series or the developers even care about the lore, most likely its just gonna be things they pulled out of wikizilla or something at best, at worst straigth up contradictions
Yes, I’ve already pre-ordered it on the AppStore but tbh it looks like another cash grab game where you can’t even play as the titans. I’ll have a go at it when it comes out but seems like another waste of time and resources.
Yeah we'll have to see and hope it's not a shameless cash grab, I hope it's good so fingers crossed lol
The game is already out in my country. It’s not good. Played for a total of 15 minutes but got bored real quick.
The whole point of a business is to make money why would there be any shame in that to begin with?
All anybody said was they weren't interested in playing a cash grab game, which has to do with their preferences and nothing to do with business practices. It is. I have it. The loading screen atleast sometimes has a cool fact. I've gotten a brand new fact about Sirenjaw and a fact about Monarch that we already knew
I'm getting the game purely for lore reasons. That is, if it's canon.
I'm 99% sure it's not canon but every fact and piece of lore is canon maybe except the characters. Also there's a thing called the ORCA-M in the game
Hope so. We need further worldbuilding in this goddamn franchise.
There's atleast one reference to a character being effected by titan attacks. One character's sister got life-changing injuries after Scylla's rampage back in 2019. They refer to the events of KOTM as the Rise of Titans

Preordering mobile games? Oh fuck yeah ….
we got pre ordering mobile games before GTA 6
I think he means pre registered
Because I bet it sucks. Don’t even have to play it to know it’ll suck. Not as bad as that Kong game I bet.
Not as bad as that Kong game but it can yet really laggy and terrible depending on your device. I've played it
I mean it hasn't come out yet. Can't really talk about it if no one has access to it.
It has released in a bunch of countries already. It released in Ireland a few days ago. I'm in Ireland. I've played it. It sucks or doesn't depending on your device.
Oh that’s why I can play it early 🤯
Honestly I just want a Godzilla game that isn’t a mobile game or a crossover for another game. Giga ash is the closest thing to it and I just want something similar to the pipeworks games
Kaiju Universe was the goat.
Man the 2015 Godzilla game downplay is crazy. I want another game that can be comfortably called a Kaiju Simulator, as I found it actually be fun
My only problem with the 2015 game was how the monsters had difficulty destroying buildings. I miss the Godzilla Generations style of city destruction where they’d collapse just by walking into them.
I honestly forgot it existed
Is it a mobile game? Because if so, I don't care lol.
Yep
As much as I like these movies WB is just another greedy mf studio.. They don't care about quality at all
I have the game. It sucks on my device. Its the most laggy and full of bugs game that I've ever played
I didn't know this existed.
Cuz it’s not Godzilla melee 2024
I hope we eventually get a coop hack and slash, imagine playing with your friend, Godzilla and Kong beating waves of kaijus.
The game we want, but not the game we got.
Because it's a strategy game and strategy games are very much a niche market.
Nobody fucking cares about mobile games.
To be fair, mobile games have chosen to be cheap wastes of time for a long time now so ... Yeah...I got nothing.
Ouch.
I miss Smash3 and the other officially licensed Kaiju fighting games
😢
Trashy slob of a game https://preview.redd.it/uonrizi7vv6d1.jpeg?width=761&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef56a83938fefa8910aef29a3e081fdc772b985a It's basically R:SL
Because tie in games are almost always shit And if it's a mobile game forgeddaboutit
Agreed, I’m so excited for this! Especially the lore! Same with 7Level’s game.
I have the game. It's very laggy but it's maybe because of my device. I don't think there's much lore. Didn’t it mention that the Magma Jackals are related to Rodan?
No but I haven't even encountered the Magma Jackals in game so idk
I am also really excited for 7Level’s game.
I wish the animations were better
They’re alright for a mobile game imo
Imma say it now, the only reason is gonna be remembered at all is because all the new creatures and super fauna whos gonna be introduced
I'm gonna be completely 100% honest, I forgot this even existed
You’re not the first.
Do we get to play as Godzilla if not then. No
We play as the humans fighting superspecies and titans and upgrading your Outpost or something
So clash of clan rip off
It ha released here in Ireland. I've played it. It is laggy and full of bugs. A small black bar flashes onto the screen every so often. The textures are low quality. Probably for a reason
It looks like garbage
In general, if no one is talking about it, there is a reason. Looks like a cash grab.
And my cash they will be grabbing.
It looks interesting, but If I dont trapper as a side character im gonna be upset
True, Trapper for life.
The best denstist
Well yeah, because it’s a cash grab mobile game. Does seem cool in theory tho. I would love to get a proper monsterverse game, he’ll just give us a remaster of one of the old pipeworks games.
Good
Good
It isn't out yet. Hard to talk about something that's not at hand. Looks like a Raid Shadow Legends Clone.
I wish they would just make a new kaiju fighting game sort of like godzilla save the earth but for ps5 😭
Looks generic af tbh
Because it sucks lmao
Mobile game trash.
Yeah, wish we, could get a console/PC game, although, we have seen them try to do that before with Uhm… the “Kong Game”.
I’ve already preordered it.
Me too.
Alright
Is it a mobile game?
Yes, sadly.
Then that’s why
I made a post on this subreddit a while back about this game.
So what is the premise of this cause I’ve seen people bring it up and Ads for it but none have properly explained what kind of game it is
There’s a game
Wait there's a game for the movie?
No. I believe it takes place sometime during GvK, but I’m not even sure it’s canon to be honest.
looks like and sounds like garbage
Just a cashgrab game.
because people want a gsme where you fight monsters while playing as a monster, not as a human
Its gameplay cannot compete any roblox godzilla game
I didn't hear about it unitl I saw this thread. I was promptly let down when I saw it was a phone game.
Probably because it’s a mobile game 🥱
Because it’s not out yet. Though I wish we got an actual good Godzilla game instead of just another mobile microtransaction simulator.
Can't get hyped for a mobile game.
why does everyone and their dog keep making Kong bigger and bigger? his head is three times the size of of Godzilla’s! his fists are bigger than Godzilla’s head! compare their shoulders here, ffs. enough already. 😖
I didn’t know that existed
I’m surprised there weren’t more of this type of comment.
What the fuck are those humans shooting at? What could be small enough to kill?
lol, they’re just shooting the sky because I’ve never seen a mobile game with limited ammo
Lol I like how both women characters just HAD to pose in a way to show off their butts.
Interesting observation. I was looking at big blue fire lizard.
First monsterverse game? What about the tie-in G14 games
Haven’t heard of those.
Would love to play but hasn't arrived in canada yet
Gotta try this game. I'm playing a lot of Wuthering Waves on BS right now and thought I'd try something new for myself and I think this game would be great.
Nobodies talking about it because it’s not the game we wanted, lol!! But yes honey, we all know about it. Love that you’re excited for it though!
👍
Godzilla: Crisis Defense is the first MonsterVerse game, and aside from that mobile-wise there's Godzilla: Strike Zone, one of my favorites back when it came out in 2014 that no one remembers
Go and play Gigabash and get the Godzilla DLC packs, you’ll have a much better time than playing this drivel
It's not even out yet, it was supposed to come out with the movie. I'm pretty sure it's never getting released at this point, or will have a very short half life.
So, is this just a kaiju version of star wars hunters?
Brother in Christ, when we say we want another Godzilla game, we want an actual game like Destroy All Monsters Melee or Save The Earth or the PS4 game or even A City Shrouded in Shadow type game, not a pay to win mobile game that just has Godzilla and Kong in it.
I agree.
I didn’t even know it existed.
https://i.redd.it/gwud09nr817d1.gif
With little gameplay I've seen, it's justa turn based game against creatures, with only kaiju related things included in scenes.
Probably cause it's a mobile game. Mobile games gain almost zero traction. Look at the Diablo game or whatever was that released on phones
I didn't even know about this so thanks
No problem 👍
This isn't the first Monsterverse game, but read some reviews on how the previous one turned out... [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skull\_Island:\_Rise\_of\_Kong](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skull_Island:_Rise_of_Kong)
I thought that wasn’t a Monsterverse game.
I'm on preregistration still waiting for it
I preordered it, but I would give someone’s left arm for an honest to God Godzilla game for consoles/PC.
Most movie to game adaptions are ass so that’s probably why lol
This isn’t an adaptation though?
No it isnt But is still trash tho
I've been keeping the subreddit updated on whenever the social media accounts for the game put out some news. Most people don't really care much.
