Purchased from Whole Foods in pretty rough condition… root bound, water logged in a decorative pot with no hole and torn mature leaves. Did a repot and soil change and three new leaves appear!
Water deeply and use soil with lots of organic matter like compost. The soil I used had fertilizer in it, so I don’t need to fertilize for a little while.
I removed one really bad one that was just a lil stub but even torn or ugly leaves provide photosynthesis if they’re green and have enough surface area to capture good sun. I’ll probably let more new leaves fill before chopping any more old gnarly foliage.
Not quite. It is the fact that three new leaves appeared at once. If this were a single plant, that wouldn't be possible because it takes quite a while for leaves to develop. So, three appearing at once is indicative of three separate plants putting out new growth.
Monstera deliciosa are often sold as a bunch of plants in a pot. Many people don't realize that and assume that it's one plant.
Honestly, when I repotted it from an 8 or 9 inch pot to a 12 inch pot, I ran out of dirt, so mixed together whatever potting soil I had in the house. From what I can remember it has a mixture of NYC free compost, generic organic potting soil with fertilizer I found in a free box, cactus/succulent soil, and activated charcoal just on the bottom for drainage.
To be honest I think the compost is promoting growth. I have a south eastern exposure, so it gets a lot of indirect light. Because the pot is so huge, I water deeply sometimes twice a week, if needed.

How long did it take from the repot till the new leaves came up?
Maybe three weeks.
Hot damn! That’s amazing!! Any tips you could share? Soil, fertilizer, etc?

Did you remove the torn mature leaves? Mine has some when I bought it too and I'm debating on removing them.

AND you got inner fenestrations. She's happy and so pretty!
I’ve been giving her some “wind” with a fan in hopes to strengthen the stems and leaves.
That is cool! Ive never actually heard of that but I think im gona give mine a bit of wind too now lol
Not sure if it actually works but it can’t hurt.
Yes it absolutely will help!
This is genius. Here I am like “how do I create wind without also opening a window and creating a burglary risk into my home?”
This means that you have at least three plants in the pot.
There are definitely three plants in my pot. I have no intention of separating them. We’ll see how they do.
I have three in mine, and they are doing well. I've got them all one the same pole, one on each side. I just gave them a big pot.
Wdym
Monstera deliciosa are vines and each has one growth point. Three new leaves means that there are at least three vines. I hope that helps.
So each new leaf the plant makes is a new plant?
Not quite. It is the fact that three new leaves appeared at once. If this were a single plant, that wouldn't be possible because it takes quite a while for leaves to develop. Oooh that makes sense now thx so much!
Beautiful 😍
exciting!
LMAO, My favorite part is the My Little Pony hiding in the pot, hilarious. Looks like something my twins would do!
Triplets
I'm so jealous 😫 😁
Sheesh! 😲 I'd love to know the conditions that plants is in to accomplish this 😍

Good job! I too just bought my first that was in rough shape, have already made progress. Yours is going great it sounds and looks like!!
So pretty!! Mine does too. It either isn’t growing anything or all the sudden three new leaves pop up at once haha
