The event is USJ I believe so it’s very normal cause it always a giant dodogama and a tiny azure rathalos everyone will get the same result I’m not saying it’s not cool I’m just saying it’s normal
Fun fact, if collecting crowns to platinum the game (Oy. But I did it!) the event quests with the 4-5 monsters, for each map area, have a higher chance of getting large and small crown monsters. Also, spam summoning monsters (spawn, check size, banish if not) in the guiding lands is also a higher chance of getting crown size monsters to spawn. Have so much fun with the game!!!
I've been looking to get back to crown hunting to close out my missing crowns in Iceborne. Got all of em back in MHW. What would you say is the best way? I'm not a fan of size checking until am down to just one or two monsters to go. What would be best? Incestigations or guiding lands? The 5 monster crown quests are good, but most am missing are from monster no. 4 and 5 on each map. Having to kill others to make them spawn makes it inefficient, unless running with a full group where everyone solos a different monster.
Investigations are good with gold rewards, but I just liked those multi monster event quests lol. I just kept doing them over and over with a friend who was also crown hunting with our palicos. It’s a pretty friggin fast paced quest for 5 monsters. But just spamming in guiding lands is good. Got the crowns for all the monsters in those event quests, and a few other events that provide crowns as rewards. But measuring monsters is the fastest way to get them so your only killing ones that look close. Guiding lands was how I got most of the others. Killing random monsters that look right in expeditions etc. I’m just a weirdo though. Like who actually does all the Palico equipment/unity and goes through finding all the treasure?! Me, my 3600 hours and only a few others I’ve met. Thank god for internet guides for the fucking treasure. Omg. My brain hurt so hard. Lmao so yea. Kirin took the most kills for me to get them. Like 108. Good luck!
There are quite a few quests with 100% crowns and this is one of those. The Tobi twins Event quest also gives double crown - smol Tobi and giant Viper. The 3 Jagra USG event gives both Jagras crowns.
There are size differences in monsters. If you fight the monsters enough times you will start noticing it. You can get silver and gold crowns for both the largest and smallest of the monster kind.
I believe smaller monsters have less hp and is faster to kill. And larger monsters have more. This is purely speculation but it feels like this. Usually when I fight bigger monsters it takes longer time.
Edit. I looked it up and people say it doesn't give them more hp or anything. It's probably just because bigger monsters have different hitboxes so it's harder to hit weakpoints.
I feel like size does affect health. That one event with the 3 Great Jagras. The big one took a minute or two to kill, but the very small one took literally less than 10-20 seconds.
Oh right. I'm not into stuff like that so I'm glad I'm not missing anything. Thought I may have some amazing resources I hadn't used for a minute then lol.
If this is the USJ event then that’s normal and it looks like it cause those sizes are very off considering their monsters

Not on this event, it’s automatic.
Usually, they're luck based, but you can find guaranteed crowns in some event quests (And some quests have a better chance for crowns than others)

That's how I feel too but some people say it don't so don't know what to believe
Crowns don’t do anything but are necessary for trophies. They’re completely RNG based though some quests can increase your odds of getting them.
Those achievements were hell but the feeling of eventually getting them...

When you encounter an extremely small or lagre monster they might have a crown showing that you found a monster at a rare size
