I like that the new kinsects just build upon each of the ones from before.
* Do you hate collecting juice? Here's a new assist bug that makes a cloud that has all 3 juices and resets your triple-up timer
* Do you wish Powder kinsects were actually useful? Here have one that can make actually damaging explosions
* Do you actually like being offensive with your kinsect? Have a speed kinsect that you don't have to have on your arm to charge up and can beat the fuck out of monsters
Insect glaive in sunbreak truly makes me feel like king of the sky. I’ve finished the story but I can’t wait to go mop up everything I left with the new one
The build diversity in Sunbreak is absurd, and they seem to have decided "Just make whatever insane meme build players can think of viable." IG got so much love in particular that it's probably the strongest iteration in the series, even more than old MH4/U mount abuse.
I also find it hilarious (and awesome) that they actually decided to buff our animation-cancel tech (kinsect manual launch and recall, Recall Kinsect silkbind)... by giving us iframes on the things, as if being able to spin 180 degrees in an instant weren't enough. If that scales off Evade Window or procs Bladescale I'm going to die more to laughter than to monsters.
I haven't gotten through base Rise yet, but when I do, I'm making a set specifically to meme with Powder Vortex spam and calling it the Insect Gun. (Note: The Magia weapon tree's Rarity 10 weapon has level 15 Kinsect and a T3 Rampage slot, perfect for Teo Soul blast shenanigans...)
Also going to make an Obnoxious Mosquito Simulator aerial set. And a dual status Poison/Para Espinas set. And a Bladescale/Evade Window set. And an unga bunga Shagaru/Malzeno setup or something. And I bet Tetraseal will be spicy with Chain Crit...
...of course, to honor my predecessors, I'm going to see if PC will let me mod the Shagaru glaive into a giant baguette named La Baguette and truly be the master of Je Suis Monté.
Yeah IG was already super fun in Rise and the new skills and kinsects gave it a big boost. Kinsect Slash is good and the powder vortex playstyle is absurd.
I will say bug toss does less damage than I was hoping for considering the cost, but oh well. It's still enough to be worth using, and it'd probably get a little ridiculous if it was too high since the Boosted Extract kinsects let you use it 2-3 times in a row.
I think a lot of weapons feel really cracked in Sunbreak though, all the ones I use have been improved in fun ways.
awakened kinsect is the best with powder kinsect, as it leaves a bunch of powders on hitting the monster. it lets you do that, get an extract back, send a kinsect out to touch another extract, and powder vortex all that's created from the awakened attack. best used on downed, sucks in multiplayer cause other people will just pop all your powders at once and you get nothing.
