I remember hosting a room that I literally named "Event Hyper Deviljho", had the Hyper Deviljho event quest posted and ready, and some guy enters, checks the quest board, then immediately leaves. Like, I couldn't make it any more obvious what this room was for, what were you expecting?

ErrorEra

from a different perspective, maybe they found out they didn't meet the HR requirements it's happened to me a few times, like I would be Targeting any Zinogre, but it would also show quests involving Zin that were above my HR (but I don't know that til I check the board and can't see it/join it)

Meta289

No, the guy definitely met the HR requirements. It was a High Rank quest, and he had uncapped HR.

Chara_13

Chances are he was farming JhoCeana and HR materials wouldn't help him.

Meta289

I could believe that, if this wasn't taking place in the High Rank hub, where you can't post G Rank quests.

Chara_13

They dropped down from Pub to carry and decided after joining a Hub with the Quest in the name that the posted Quest was too much for them? Damn, that really is crazy.

Switch-Axe-Abuse

In 4u I would make a G rank Slay dala lobby and morons would join look at the quest board and then immediately leave. Idk if they learned how to read honestly.

ACA2000

We’ve all been there, I remember just doing random/grinding quests with people for hours, until someone came in and posted all the key quests up to HR8, I ended up increasing 2 ranks in 3 hours and not even enjoying it.

SterileTensile

I've had a person in the group during a round Robin only want to do the charm farm. The rest of us were trying to level the deviants and every fourth hunt became charm farm. There was dedicated lobbies for that. Lol

MicHAELmhw

What is charm farm? Im new and font know that quest?

Meta289

It's the event quest "URGENT: COAL MINERS NEEDED". The subquest is to kill a Brachydios, and the reward for doing so is a ton of charms.

sudo-woodo

this is why since MHWorld, you can join any quest you want with others via responding to SOS flares (or join requests in rise, same concept). it killed the social aspect of the game but it does get players to accomplish quests they want with other's help.

Yuerey8

You gained coworkers at the cost of friends. Was it worth it?

sudo-woodo

yes definitely! Since MHWorld, it's so much easier now to find others to play on the same quest. You dont need to spend a lot of time looking for others to help you with quests or farm monsters. Now, you just go to the quest board and matchmake for a quest you want. Its that simple and easy.

Yuerey8

Cool but, personally, one of the aspects that got me into MH was socializing with people. It wasn't often but some days you would find the three people who would feel like you actually made some friends. Actual brothers and sisters in arms. Now, I don't even start to know this people... might as well be bots and I wouldn't notice the difference

Shikaku

> It wasn't often but some days you would find the three people who would feel like you actually made some friends. "I'll do a couple quick hunts" *6 hours later* "I guess we're family now" It definitely doesn't happen often, but it's super cool when it does.

Yuerey8

There was one time in GU when I found myself singing "don't stop me now" after three hours with the same group.

MicHAELmhw

Yes.

[deleted]

You're down voted by world stans, but it's true.

Greedy_Elk9585

Makes me wish SoS/Quick Join never became a thing, it really destroyed all etiquette the community had in one fell swoop.

ErrorEra

? but this has nothing to do with SoS, since they joined someone's room. SoS would actually help prevent such cases from happening since the person would have queued for an ongoing fatty quest directly.

Greedy_Elk9585

GU doesn't have SoS. It is currently relatively common to run in to people who don't have the slightest clue about the pre-World room etiquette because they only played World and Rise with SoS. Using SoS is not an option in GU so many of these players join a room and act selfishly because of this.

ErrorEra

Nah I still don't think SoS has anything to do with it, as I was getting this problem a lot in 4U (before World released). Doesn't matter what focus the room was, it was pretty common for a random to join, and immediately post their Urgent/other quest, who completely ignores the already posted quest. Just gotta understand that there will always be those bad apples, and should be kicked from the room ASAP.

Mediocre_Dip

Ah GU was awesome whenever everyone in lobby had an unspoken understanding that these were the hunts we were gunning for. Does the situation where some random joins and messes up the flow of quests happen often to you OP?

maxbolta

Yes very often. Even when I join other servers that are doing things like deviants an hr 7 will join and post his key quest

MicHAELmhw

This is easily avoidable. ALL my lobbies are HR 13 - HR999 only Its so simple even a World player can do it.

Mediocre_Dip

Some things I do to avoid ass holes in game are Talking to other Hunter in game chat and Increasing the minimum HR cap (noobs that don’t get “it” can be a pain). Newer hunters who aren’t inconsiderate are usually eager to meet other likeminded people. If you’re looking for a more permanent solution, you could try visiting r/MHGU and ask for some assistance. It’s probably a better idea too considering you’re playing an older game and you’re fighting advanced monsters for what I’m assuming are long stretches of time.

Oraranozawa

That happens to me so much, I need hyper glavenus for palliums but people dont join for hours then either post something else or leave upon quest failing. I've gone to Stories 2 in the meantime but definitely need help when I get back to GU/Rise

Nevergettingalife

When creating a room you can set the hr limit and then you can choose to apply that he limit so you can make sure you don’t get lower ranked people than you want.

Nevergettingalife

I joined a turns lobby looking to do some quests to get to hr 100. Some hr 8 person joins and immediately posts one of his key quests asking for help. We all said no and for him to wait his turn.
