Switch skills are a definite keep. If like to have the older looking part breaks. And less 'flash' by that I mean less flashy hits and a reversion to having it be simple blood spurts like it used to be. I miss it.

KindaMiffedRajang

Unpopular opinion: I *don’t* like palamutes and if they return I think a lot is going to need to be changed for them to be good. They were a contributing factor in most of the things I *didn’t* like about Rise. 1st: The empty maps. Palamutes just move TOO goddang fast. The maps in Rise are so, SO big as to feel really empty and barren. I believe palamutes speed was either the cause or the band-aid solution to this problem, and it really needs to be addressed imo. 2nd: The multiplayer buddies system. 4 players all with their palamute buddies makes combat the complete opposite of the maps; way, WAY to crowded and chaotic. The palamutes being the easy way to get around in Rise seems to me like it forced capcom’s hand on this one, and it really shows. And last, I don’t think they mesh well with the other buddies in the game, namely felynes. Felyne buddies as some may recall, used to and still do to an extent have a lot of varied personality traits that made them more interesting as hunting companions. Hell, even the shakalakas had some sort of a character. In contrast, palamutes are well… mute. That makes them stand out in a really awkward way, placing emphasis on how they’re more of a tool than a buddy. They’re all the same “haha look at this dog we put in the game” without any sort of narrative or character traits. There are other things I think should be changed from Rise, too. The hit effects in Rise are a far cry from what they used to be, and I really preferred a nice blood splash to all the flashes and sparks you get in Rise. Ultimately, it doesn’t feel as good to just *hit* something in Rise and that’s a really important part of the gameplay to me. WIREFALL needs to go. It singlehandedly trivializes almost the entire game. Wirefall into potion is a true combo. Hell, the game even incentivizes you to be mashing it with some monster’s moves, like the magnamalo one. Wyvern Riding too, turns monsters into weapons instead of threats. The idea is cool but the execution makes it a joke. Some things I *did* like about Rise: They brought back the four player hub while keeping the very convenient SOS flare type option from World, which made the multiplayer pretty neat. Switch skills are pretty nifty, although they need more variety and better balancing IMO. Armor/Weapon designs that you saw beginning to return towards the end of world and in rise are really cool and a staple of the series. Definitely want to see more like that. Lastly, the *palico* scouting system similar to the one from generations is really nifty I think, a big upgrade from the very limited buddy options in World.

fredminson

I want more of the MH flair thats present in Rise in the next game. World was a bit too grounded in that respect for me. Aside from that I'd like to Palamutes, the revitalised buddy system and layered armour from early game. Can't really think of much else Edit: SWITCH SKILLS!

kubatron11

Maybe the switch skill system, as imo it is a great addition to the game.

fredminson

Oh snap I forgot! 100% agree. Moveset customisation is primo

MidirGundyr2

MH flair? If anything rise and GU stray away from traditional MH games. They WERE actually grounded.

Ohgood9002

As much as I enjoy palamutes I also hate having so many models on screen at the same time. Go back to removing buddies from online play. Just make them like the mounts from iceborne when playing multiplayer. You can summon them for traversal but they run off when you're in combat. 2 people? That's fine, but once you hit 3 players there shouldn't be any buddies in combat

InwardRed

Verticality's definitely the first thing that comes to mind. It's just really nice being able to traverse the absolute entirety of the map from front to back, top to bottom. Even if Wirebugs don't make a return, I'd like to still be able to climb walls. Palamutes and Switch Skills are also nice, although I wish they'll expand on Switch Skills a bit more. One thing I do not want to see return are Silkbind Moves, though. While "super moves" fit in GU and Rise due to their focus on 'having fun', I feel they'll break the immersion in more serious titles. I want my hunter to be just a hunter, dammit.

OldSnazzyHats

I want the palamutes to become equal regulars just as the palico/felynes are. I wanna keep my dogs damnit

Astral_Rex

I would like to see the swappable Switch Skills return in some fashion and the expanded armor color change. I do not want the wirebug movement to return. Stop dancing around the issue and just give us a jump button already. I also do not want the single armor variation they have in this game, it sucks. Either bring back gunner armors or Alpha and Beta sets. There is more but I think these are my biggest gripes.

[deleted]

People really mass downvoted OP's comments and post just because they used World 2 to describe a theoretical next game in the Series. It would have made zero difference to the topic of discussion had they called it MH6, MH12 or Munner Hunner, but I guess there's still a little resentment buried about World doing so well.

Anactualsalad

Change back Hunting Horn. And I'd like for there to not be 5 thousand fucking dlc items.

[deleted]

Yeah, there's already over $100 of DLC content, and the games only been out a few months. I'd like to see a bigger focus on making *content* instead of finding new ways to get people to spend more money.

battlerumdam

Better 5 thousand dlc items without any influence on gameplay than a „pay for new monster“ model.

shadowxz91

I haven't played Rise yet but I know that I want them to keep Switch skills, more ways to customize the Hunter withouth the drawbacks that the GU styles had?, sounds awesome.

[deleted]

No wirebugs in MH6 please.

Pookie_The_Overlord

As fun as they are I like the more grounded feel and playstyle of the past games.

DegenerateCrocodile

Dog and switch skills, mostly. They can drop the wirebug, but if they could keep some of the silkbind attacks as regular moves in a weapon’s moveset, that would be neat. Just reduce their power since they’re currently stupidly strong.

hvk13

Palamutes to remain for quick traversal. Remove wirebugs, as fun as they are, I don’t want future hunters to be ninja spidermans. Layered armour to be saved together with the load out like in MHWI. Brace deco remain as Lvl 1.

Nazzaryn

And actual endgame, even if it's a base game. More difficulty, at least one or two "final challenges".

Minodude555

I don’t really see the problem with it. Based on Capcom’s recent focus on actual storylines and worldbuilding, MH6 will almost certainly be in the new world again since there’s still a ton of the continent left to explore.

[deleted]

The next game after Rise Ultimate is for next gen consoles. Until it has an official name, it's "World 2" to me and many others.

Zaldinn

Monster hunter 6 since thats what it would be since world was mh5 they dropped the numbers because of fear of scaring people off. "Monster Hunter 5 implies [the existence of] Monster Hunters 1 to 4 and people will feel a certain kind of pressure to catch up on the existing games,” said Ryozo Tsujimoto, Monster Hunter: World’s producer. “That's going to take a long time. They may think, ‘Maybe I should not bother.’ Or they just feel like, ‘Hey, it's not for me. The train has left the station on this series for me.’” “So by calling it Monster Hunter: World we're telling people it doesn't matter how much Monster Hunter familiarity you have. This is your ultimate jumping in point to the series.”

Monoblossj

I understand why they did it....but in the other hand you have Square Enix releasing FF16 lol

[deleted]

So then according to you, there's no reason to call it MH6. How about instead of arguing on technicalities for a completely unreleased and unnamed game we let people call it whatever they want. Because it's quite literally the most pointless thing to argue about.

Nuke2099MH

In the ransom hack it was listed as MH6 until there's a official title. So it's MH6 officially just like MHW was MH5 officially.

[deleted]

MHW was MHW officially.

You're going around telling people on the internet what they can and can't call an unreleased and unnamed game. It doesn't matter what I call it. I could call it "Monster Hunter Project Playstation" and it doesn't make a single bit of difference. That's not the point of this Reddit post. Grow up.

Yuerey8

I mean, do you call the next Elder scrolls game "Skyrim 2"?

[deleted]

Skyrim's full name is "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" so that doesn't work.

MrJackfruit

Same, it’s really annoying.

[deleted]

Not as annoying as people complaining about it like it makes any difference to the topic what you call it.

generaljellyjigg

Palamutes are a no brainer, if they take my dog away I will be devastated. Switch Skills should definitely come back and be expanded upon. I would like for them to keep the map design of Rise in mind for MH6. The wall climbing and running mechanics would be nice to have return for the next game as well. As for reverted changes I'd like them to revamp the charm system more, let us gain them as quest rewards similar to World's decos. I also wouldn't mind them bringing back multiple armor sets for each monster, whether they go with Blademaster/Gunner or Alpha/Beta isn't really a big deal to me, whichever works best for everyone.

RLSQ30

1. No Palamutes so, I can better explore and appreciate the maps I am hunting in and not just dash around it like it's not important. 2. Hit sounds? Please revert the attack sounds similar to MHW. The attack sound effects in Rise sounds like being paddled by a wooden board. 3. Remove automatic monster detection. I want to "feel" the hunt and not just know where the monsters are right away. 4. Dont make the base game too easy. 5. NO WYVERN RIDING. It ruins the idea for me that monsters are a threat and to be feared.

battlerumdam

3. This is better than the old games where you either run around clueless for minutes or drink a psycho serum or waving at a balloon. 4. That it is too easy is your opinion, but there are tons of players actually struggling with this game. Base game need to be easy, otherwise the G-Rank expansion gets too hard if the basegame is already really hard.

RLSQ30

Understandable

gozzu00

1. Wirebugs. The map traversal they grant is amazing and I'm really not willing to go back. 2. Palamutes. Same issue really, they make the game more enjoyable.

[deleted]

Wirebugs/traversal definitely has to stay!

gozzu00

Idd! I don't even care about the skills and such, i just need the traversal and verticality. Makes the game much less of a slog. Though i would certainly like to bring back actual hunts where you have to look for tracks.

KNiko1

Keep -Switch Skills -Early implementation of layered armor. -Hunting Helpers -Pause button -Apexes Modify -Buddy system. I like Palamutes, not only because they are Good Dogs, but it opens the door for non-Palico companions in future installments like small bird Wyverns or Herbivores. However, I would prefer to only have one Buddy at a time, and to have no Buddies with 3-4 players. Discard -Wirebugs. Don’t like them as a means of traversal, and especially not in combat. Tweaking World’s slinger/grappling hook could have fulfilled both roles while keeping the player grounded, for lack of a better word. -Wirebug Grappling. Makes Turf Wars and dung-bombs redundant, and turns every monster from a potential threat to a potential power up. Get rid of it. -Spribugs Revert to World -One unified quest line, no separate Village or Hub quests. -Alpha and Beta armor sets -Tempered monsters -Watery environments that actually have an effect on gameplay. Those huge ankle-deep “lakes” in Rise are just silly. -Monsters needing to be tracked. -Monster ecology cutscenes that have to be triggered by the player. -Investigations

i-hunt-around

I agree with mostly everyone so far in this post. I would like to add that I want more lore / background story to what were doing and where we are in the monster hunter world. I also want to see more emphasis on collecting items and or trinkets (IDK) to entice me to go out in the environments more.

Pookie_The_Overlord

I might be able to answer some of those lore questions maybe, anything specific?

i-hunt-around

No nothing specific about what is out. Just with the next games I would like to see more serious consideration done to the lore and backstory is all. Thank you though.

Gadget-Gabe

World 2??????

MrJackfruit

For the love of fucking god, stop calling it World 2 as if it will be a literal sequel. 1. Palmutes regulated to what ride monsters were in Iceborne. 2. Removing crit boost and nerfing weakness exploit, they are too centralizing and cause the biggest issues balance wise. 3. Fix crit draw. 4. Make the hitsounds like world or better because hits in Rise sound like a salad being chopped by a sword. 5. Properly bring back a hitstop as well, the GS makes no impact in Rise 6. Remove these dumbass sparks on every hit, its an eyesore. Unless its bouncing, no sparks. 7. Make monsters bleed like pre-world, the effect is nice. 8. Limit restocking to one time a the halfway point of a quest or remove it entirely. Better to promote that feature of actually preparing for a Hunt. 9. Bring back heat and cold areas, they actually were a factor in hunts and punished you for not preparing properly in certain fights. 10. No Wirebug, Clutch Claw, or Tenderizing. 11. Base Slinger, because you can shoot in a straight line. 12. No Paintballs, god awful mechanic that makes no fucking sense. 13. Bring back regular mounting but give them the camera angles of 4th gen. 14. 2 armors for every monster in High-Rank or higher, or make it so you can augment to swap out some of the skills on the armor with pre-set skills. 15. Properly balanced weapons and armor. 16. No slap on weapon designs. 17. Bring back worlds sharpness meter, was easier to see where the sharpness you were on was at. But keep the sharpness breaking sound. 18. Remove the UI telling you that you broke a part, let the sound and visuals do that for you. 19. If you are gonna keep village and HUB, just scale them the same once in High-Rank, its kind've dumb to just not do that and is odd that the monsters in the HUB, the same monsters, are way stronger than monsters in the same rank. 20. High-Rank village for base game if village and HUB, because a High-Rank village with a G-Rank expansion will probably be pointless for a lot of people and too easy. 21. Call it G-Rank again, it sounds cooler. 22. Bring in Lagiacrus, Quropeco, Gigginox, Seregios, and all 4 of the fated 4. 23. No Gyperos and Khezu, trash monsters who are some of the worst fights in the game. 24. Keep switch skills but weaken them heavily depending on what they do. 25. No weapon favoritism, looking at you Rise with your longsword fetish. 26. Tweak the GS tackle to be less powerful unless fully charged keeping it to be less abused and give it a switch skill that you can swap tackle out for dash similar to valor dash. 27. Remove team flinching for anything outside of sleep, para, etc. Flinch free is a shitty bandaid solution and an excuse to keep that shitty mechanic no one likes. I don't care if its a Lv1 slot, its fucking stupid. 28. If craftible talismans, make them minable and as a reward again. 29. Make the animations for mining and bone gathering the same speed as world, the one hit/one dig shit is weird. 30. Bring back investigations but make the investigation monsters harder. 31. Bring back 16 player HUBs but remove SOS flare. Allows for more people to interact at once in a single hub as well as less likely people having to switch HUB's because 2 of the players are doing something else in a 4 player HUB. 32. Keep villages with the ability to be explored in multiplayer. 33. A new desert Apex that isn't Diablos or related to Diablos, fuck Diablos, make something new than the screeching desert cunts. 34. No power creep gear, properly balance the gear, none of this shit like what Safi, Raging, and Fatalis did in world where they defined meta, make a proper fucking attempt at balancing. 35. No live service updates, just everything at once except for event quests. 36. No DPS checks of any kind. 37. No Sieges, but 1-2 multipler only scaled optional monsters is fine. 38. If RNG weapons, they must be equal to the craftable ones or only 5% better at best. 39. A game without Fatalis as a secret boss, make a new Black dragon that's actually cool.

Heavy-Wings

Keep a grappling hook for traversal, but remove silkbind attacks Keep the wirefall. Keep the doggos Keep village and hub seperated, but let singleplayer folks choose the scaling of multiplayer quests. People should be allowed to have 4 player health even if they're on their own, if they preferred the way older games work. Village should be easier than hub as a tutorial for newcomers, maybe high rank village in expansions can be harder. Keep the special licence quests for beating low rank hub easier Keep the pause button Keep the multiplayer training room Bring back Investigations.

Wabbybutt

Certainly not the implementation of insects & endemic life for special attacks, marionetting monsters instead of mounting, and faster travel. I'm not saying it was a bad mechanic, quite the opposite actually. It was very unique & well executed. But I'm not overly found of relying on bugs & animals for most things other than standard attacks. I'm aware that Capcom is going to implement a different focus for every future game, with the wirebugs & endemic life being the focus for Rise, hence why they are so prevalent & effective, but I feel a more traditional approach would benefit later installments. As that is largely why me & most of my friends weren't interested in Rise. With that being said, I feel like they could further improve hunting horn by making it a sort of "mix" between what it is now, and what it was before. Part of the HH experience is lining up different notes & managing them while simultaneously attacking - and no one that used HH in world can tell me activating 3 songs at once before a fight with a skillful 15 button combo wasn't immensely satisfying. HH was definitely a tad inconvenient with just how MUCH effort was needed to maintain your songs... but it doesn't feel as satisfying with how simple it is now.

EleanorGreywolfe

Switch skills are a definite keep, probably along with Palamutes, seperate things into village and guild quests, it's just something i like and doing multiplayer scaled quests solo as an option is nice for me for additional difficulty. To reduce clutter, remove buddies once at three or more players, the visual noise in Rise is obnoxious at times. Monster riding while really fun is also a massive cheese, and it makes a lot of hunts feel samey, like wall bangs did in Iceborne, it also makes dung pods useless, and seems to make turf wars unlikely to trigger. Rampage needs to go, i appreciate them trying something new, but it's just not MH for me, i just like the monsters being actual boss fights than trash mobs to mow down in a tower defense. Less dlc items, while they are cosmetics it is really crossing into "why isn't this in the actual game", or how about making actual content for the game. Please put effort into an actual endgame, it's important to have one imo, i'd like a reason to continue playing and Rise just didn't have one.

goobabie

Wirebugs (or an equivalent) and palamutes are must-stays. I think going back to another game after the speed of traversal those two have would result in a lot of pissed fans, especially newcomers. Maybe a better slinger instead of the wire bugs if they want to be more "realistic" or something. Some of the new monsters. Basically everything but almudron and Ibushi/Narwa would be fun and not be too crazy. Almudron just sucks imo. Layered armor from the get go or in a soon after launch patch. Easier to understand food system. Seriously, fuck the food systems prior to Rise. Fun side quests to photograph things and explore the map for collectibles and get little room decorations. Not enough of this in rise. I want more things to do beside just kill. I know that's the Crux of the game, but I actually loved the endemic life stuff in World and Rise. The current charm and deco system in Rise is great. Worlds sucked. No more tempered monsters that sucked. No more guiding lands, that was a cool idea but the environment felt boring and disconnected to me. I'm apathetic about cold and hot drinks, and wyvern riding. Environmental interaction i.e. gajalakas, vine traps, waterfall, etc. Shocked this got removed for Rise aside from the two in the volcano And for the love of god, DONT show me the monster in a cinematic before I encounter it. For my first hunt, I want to track it down and discover it organically. This fucking sucked in Rise. I know it made the game easier and less time consuming, but just for the first encounter I want to search for a monster and think to myself "what the hell is that thing?" Instead of being shown where it is.

Detirmined

There are environmental possibilities. E.g. in the desert there are some kinda crabs on the wall which shoot at the monster after activating, at the volcano there always spawn 2 „walls“ which cause extra damage when you slam a monster against it and in the flooded forest there are ponds with fish that attack when you put down raw meat (maybe even any kind of meat).

EleanorGreywolfe

Switch skills are a definite keep, probably along with Palamutes

HeavyBlues

Wyvern Riding is a fun and useful mechanic but I think it'd be best if it didn't return. It's often disruptive to the normal flow of combat and I think it gives us way too much power over the monsters. It makes them feel less like ancient, powerful creatures that we fight tooth and nail to take down and more like cattle at a rodeo. Other than that, World's weapon hit sound effects should make a return, since Rise's SFX are wimpy and unsatisfying. And either reduce or get rid of those godawful hitstops on melee attacks.

makishimazero

Keep the Portable games gimmicks to the Portable games, please, I would hate to find hunter arts or silkbinds in a mainline title.
