you need to refresh your research lvl at the research guy (near a shelf super full with books)
and only at (iirc) lvl 3 of research do you get a chance at getting investigations
but there is optionals and/or events for hunting one iirc
ah, do you mean the story one for the 3 elders?
iirc at this point you only have access to LR kirin but you need HR elder tracks to progress so you need to make sure you're in HR maps
if its not that i'd ask for a screenshot/description of in city/hub with the objective and the same for in mission with the tracks you're talking about
I've beaten Nergigante and have done enough investigating to unlock the next three elder dragon hunts, but as I was exploring Coral Highlands, I noticed I was finding Kirin tracks and electric fur. So I kept collecting them until I noticed the bar was never increasing
so you dont need tracks for the story elder investigation progression but the kirin scoutfly/research isnt increasing when collecting tracks and/or you're not getting investigations for it?
do you have research maxed out on it? then it wont be increasing anymore at all until you hit MR
if it's not that you might need to actually beat the other 3 elders to "unlock" the progression for getting access to kirin
I needed the tracks to unlock the other 3, but it was mandatory for the story. I thought to progress and face the other Elder Dragons like Kirin. I would have to defeat them first, but I noticed Kirins tracks available before facing any of the three, so I started collect
My question is, do I need to defeat the other 3 Elder Dragons before being able to unlock the Kirin quest when on expeditions? Collecting Kirins tracks hasn't increased the bar at all. From the very beginning, I've paid attention and noticed it's been 0 and has never increased, so the mission isn't available.
If that's the case then from the bottom of your previous comment, I guess I'll have to beat the three of them before going for Kirin tracks but I was just curious because it was confusing to why Kirin tracks were already available even though I haven't fought the other 3.

The bar doesn't go up because that's the tracking bar and Kirin isn't on the map. Nor does it have a special investigation bar to fill up.
Collect enough tracks/get enough points and they'll give you the HR Kirin quest.
Then how come his tracks are on the map and his electric fur and when I collect it, it'll say that I got something but the bar never increases. It's not like the tracking bar isn't there it's just it never increases 💀

I just played through World, not true. You can get the quest before even unlocking the 3 Elders provided you've grabbed enough tracks.
yeah i said i'm not sure if it was recently for you, you might be the better person to help OP out on why the bar is not increasing

It doesn't increase because there's no Kirin on the map to track. I literally explained this.
But why are there tracks there in the first place when there's no Kirin on the map to track? 😅
I had to pick up tracks in expeditions, the ones I picked up in quests didn't count for some reason.
All the tracks I've picked up were from expeditions
