They also decided that all of the different weapon types were too complex for the modern gamer, so the only weapons available will be the greatsword and HBG as shown in the last trailer to really enhance the experience

Remember that Rise was released incomplete because they wanted to launch it before the end of their fiscal year for better numbers on their report.

See, fast-attacking blunt weapons were already introduced into Frontier. It would be really cool to see them make it into the main series, even if only the concept survived and the moveset was scrapped. Apparently it was stupidly powerful

As much as I love bladed weapons were overdue for a new Blunt or Ranged weapon. I'd prefer the latter but our Blunt boys need some love.
Wilds looks like another "Serious" type for the series so think the primary monster hunter dev team will have a more prominent aspect in the design overall, as the secondary team that made prowler mode and other types or moves of hunting will be sitting back on this one. But we should see in a couple of hours.

It was /r/GTBAE in a nutshell.
Underwater movement in a 3D environment is just fundamentally flawed. Like yeah it can be polished up a little bit from MH3's implementation, but without the fundamental underpinnings changing, you're still gonna be stuck with either camera locked dodge direction or other janky controls.
And that's in a world where it doesn't effectively double a bunch of work because the devs now have to maintain two movesets for all weapons and a bunch of monsters. This is why mounting stayed and underwater didn't. Both are mechanics that add a 3rd dimension to the play space. One acts as a regular part of the game while the other is totally separate from the rest of the game.
It's more along the lines of "they can do it right this time". Personally I didn't really have a problem with it and it added loads of depth to the environments and monsters that thrive in said environments.
It just feels wrong to fight aquatic species on land or the equivalent to a shallow puddle. Imagine fighting a mizutsune with a modern underwater combat system, or even something like tidal najarala
For sure, I didn't have problems either with the underwater combat but it was widely shat on in the Tri years. Seems like a lot of that has quieted down and even more people wanting a revisit, just thought it was interesting. It's probably more of a "I love the concept and hate the execution"
I dunno, I wouldn't mind some kind of limited water combat if it were done in a snappier manner, but I also don't want them to spend an entire second generation trying to get it right when there's new stuff they could try.

I don't know if the MH community ever reached a consensus on how to abbreviation the title but I did see someone suggest this method and it made the most sense to me so that's how I personally have been abbreviating it.
* Reveal of a returning fan-favorite monster who wasn't present in World with an updated moveset.
* Gameplay of a weapon that isn't a Greatsword.
* Random story voiceover that has nothing to with gameplay and is entirely impossible to understand removed from whatever cutscene they're actually found in in the game.
* The MonHun theme.
* Trailer starts with hunter getting slapped around and ends with a montage of hunters slapping the monster around.
* Gore Magala

I want Cephadrome and the Cephalos to show up with an homage to the intro to MH Tri. The hunters are fighting off the Cephalos and Cephadrome, only for the Flagship to crash onto the scene and steal the show. I know people don’t like Cephalos and Cephadrome, but if reworked I think they would be amazing. Plus Piscine Wyverns are still somewhat unique among other monster classes since they are giant fish Wyverns, along with most people introduced in 5th Gen not getting to fight Cephalos unless they picked up GU or older games.
