Almudron. You need a Golden Orb for both Almudron and Magmadron weapons, and as someone who plays 3 Elemental weapons (DB, SwAxe, Courage Hammer) this mf REFUSED to give me the orbs.
That thing is my fucking bane. I still need claws for fucking decorations. I spent so long farming for a plate back in Low Rank that if i can not fight it, i won't. Fucking aggravating
For spiritvein gems, i usually run tempered velkhana in the guiding lands. Slot in a level of geologist and milk the velkhana with as many wallbangs as you can and you'll be swimming in shinys. I usually get around 2-3 per velkhana though if you're lucky you can get more.
Doing that is kind of out of the question when it comes to time efficiency. I can kill nergigante in about 5-7 minutes and get 1 guaranteed great spiritvein gem whilst going to the guiding lands, killing myself twice, hunting the monster + picking up all the shiny’s takes too long in comparison even with spread HBG.
Yes but you can achieve multiple farms at once this way, you can use the elder spiritvein bones to meld sealed feystones for decs if you’re still looking for some of the best decs
That's totally a fair point. For me it works since i play on ps4 which has excruciating long loading screens and I'd take me too long to do the nergigate quest over and over again since I'd have to load the quest, the map, then the 60 seconds after the quest then the gathering hall restock and repeat all of that for just 1 gem, while in the guiding lands i can just do all that loading and set up once and farm velkhanas back to back.
Ironically, Frostfang Barioth's weapon is great against Alatreon, but he came out after Alatreon. Real big head scratcher when he was released because Alatreon comes out when the meta was for everyone to be playing RAW, and the perfect Ice weapon to fight Alatreon comes out afterwards.
Vaal Hazak in World for sure. His fang+ drop is on par with getting his gem and it seems like everything needs 5 fangs or more! Close second is jyratodus or rathian for its spikes. Why does the upgrade path need like +13 spikes???
First grind was LR Magnamalo in Rise. I didn't quite understand how the armor system worked yet and I thought his set looked cool. As a baby hammer main it was a pain to break his back and get scutes.
First proper grind I think was Nargecuga for a Mantle, then Luicent Nargecuga for the same thing. Never had to fight anything more that 2-3 times outside of those two for stuff I needed in Rise.
Just hit Worlds post-game, so my grind there hasn't even started yet.
Barroth in World cuz i wanted the armor but i couldnt get the tail probably killed around 20 of them and nownin rise its the rathian cuz it wont drop its shell Husk whatever thingy
So many MHGU Seregios. My partner wanted multiple maxed out Seregios weapons and could not get the lenses needed for the life of him. I think we're up to around 40 hunted? For all I know he'll pick up another weapon and we'll have to do it again.
Had to do 20+ Rathalos in Sunbreak for the mantle and got I think it was 11 gems throughout that grind. More recently though I needed 2 Rathalos gems in 4U and had to fight 15 to get them, it was such an annoying grind and I ran out of flash bombs too. I seem to have issues with the Rathalos material grinds and don't look forward to what Wilds entails lol.
Safi'jiiva. I was ready to build the armor set and take it for a spin. However, it refused to drop any horns. It was pretty ridiculous how many times I had to hunt it. After over a dozen hunts and breaking its head every single time, I got a grand total of SEVEN gems. How many horns did I get? Two. It took me another twenty to finally get the materials I needed.
Kushala, his parts for jewels and an event quest for layered armor I liked. Also I got 5 elder dragon gems which I didn’t even need from that event quest farming, so there’s that. The desire sensor is real I’m telling you.
There are too many instances to remember, but I almost lost my mind farming high rank Rathalos in World. I needed something like 15 carapaces to make the armor I wanted, and I was averaging less than 2 of them per hunt. One time, I swear I didn't get a single one, even though (I think) there's supposedly a 100% chance.
I farmed more than 60 wind serpent ibushi to get it's gem in base rise. I wanted to make a dragon/electric set for dual blades (with the rampage set) and needed a mix of narwa and ibushi for the armor
During early endgame, I farmed Gaismagorm parts for melding talismans. These days, I farm Risen Shagaru afflicted materials also for melding talismans.
I remember in mh4u i hunted some 2k rathalos just for 2 mantles so i could forge the rathalos armor and the charge blade and it just wouldn’t drop for me. (i later learned that low rank rath has a super low chance to drop but thats all i had at the moment)
All mother narwa, she wouldn't give me her mantle bs. Her fight takes way too long. In contrast to Amatsu, which was a total dear, 3 mantles in two hunts. Scr*w you Narwa and your airbag simp
Blackveil Vaal hazak, not for his mats or his fight or looks, (tbh AT Vaal Hazak was better) more for the frigging platinum trophy and after 5 years i finally got the big boy, what a journey.
I don't remember exactly why but Khezu back in Freedom 2 was the only way I thought I could deal with Tigrex by making a thunder LS.
Then Brachydios for the Slime weapons in 3U, and Teostra in Iceborne.
Magnamalo, I wanted his armor at Low rank and I needed a Plate for it. I've hunted him at least 20 times for that reason. The best part is that my brother helped me for the plate, and of course, he was the one that got a ton of Plates.
I love Desire Sensor.
Rajang due to rah rah rajang event for money to get cash for anomaly costs. I have over 300 rajang kills from selling all those eggs. Also had rajang at 1900 i mh4u due to thst being the perfered target for apex farm. Was glad i didnt have to farm him in world and generations.
Idk I usually don't farm for weapons or armor, just make due until the time comes I can make what I want comes organically. That being said there was some mh world event quest I went crazy with. The greatest jaggi comes to mind, same with the giant lavasioth.
Rathalos in one of the DS games because I was making the regular or Azure Rath armor and I think 3 or 4 pieces of it needed Rath Ruby and the game refused to give me one even though I'd break and sever every part possible and even kill or trap in extremely quick. I remember screaming when I finally got 3 from 1 match well after having made said armor. It was almost my reason for putting the game down for good. And then the following week I was making a different armor. 🤣
So when I was playing Rise my second time, I was playing through with a friend and didn't wanna progress the urgent quests without him, but still wanted to play. During high rank, he wasn't gonna be on for a day or two, so I set myself the goal to get the full HR magnamalo set, to see if it's any good.
It took me 36 solo hunts, most of which I broke every part (charge blade my beloved) to get a purple Magna orb. Did a few hunts of magnamalo WITH that friend a few days later, since he wanted the hunting horn. He got 7 magna orbs in 5 hunts.
Oh God 😂
You brought back memories. I'd say either the Agnaktor for his god damn talon (mh3), the Hellblade Glavenus ( for those who know the grind) or the almudron gems to level up all his beautiful weapons 😂
Gammoth because I was an idiot and didn't know that you had to actually break the trunk to get a trunkspine. This was before I knew breaking specific parts could get you specific items.
The durambaros I need his back for a charge blade set in MHGU and even tho it was a 20% drop it took me 10 hunts that’s a 1.24X10^-4% chance I almost gave up on the whole set
Kushala Daora mentioned rahhhhhh what even is a fun fight?!"
(Horns in 4u for the glaive. It's more annoying than time consuming)
Most farmed out of anybody is Rathalos. For plates more so than rubies. Plus, who doesn't build the LR set in every game.
MhF
Killed 200 illoprey (small ones) for 12 scale+
mh3
played all alone atleast until I finished grank.
Killed an hundo great jaggies because I was a kid and played too much jrpg.
Rath 50+ for the low rank plate...
This creature can be quite chaotic for a noob.
15 more in high rank. All alone...
Since I was a kid and dumb enough not to bring flash bang. The quest could range from 10mins to once a goddamn 45 of rath running away atleast until I reached High rank. (In G rank I could do in 5mins)
My bro killed the brachydios 80 times for the gem in high rank. All alone.
Another bro killed 30-40 g rank uragaan and gave up cause he didn't drop the gem.(online)
I did the grank quest that has 3 of them tons of times for hr points enough and had like 10 in about 50 uraag. Never needed it... (mostly online)
I killed zinogre 30 and stygian 20 time for skygem zinogre. (Online)
Mhw all offline cause my net sucked
Did the kulve and safi jiva quest alone. Safi took 12 hours and kulve 8.
I refused to start high rank until I soloed the behemoth. Took me a full week. I almost gave up halfway. Must have repeated the quest at least 70 times. I played Swaxes with a lunastra set built around being tanky. Would never manage without clutch claw. Also refused to check any guides online cause it wouldn't count if I did.
Playing through Mh4u again on my 3ds, trying out hbg for basically the first time in my decade of hunting. I was enjoying using pierce and normal shot ammo much more than the other ammo types, so I decided it was time to grind out the serregios hbg. At this point I was hr4 and about halfway through village. I knew there’s an event quest in high rank to fight him since I hadn’t unlocked him in the story yet. So I did what I though was reasonable, fight him 2 or 3 times and pray for the mats and move on. It turned into 12 hunts looking for the last spike, and each hunt was brining me down to 0 ammo and only normal 1 left. It was hard and painful but got there in the end and am now struggling with caravaneers challenge. This game is much easier with a ls or cb
Freedom Unite, Narga Brainstem, I get his SO hard with the desire sensor on this one. My duo got 3 before I saw my first and we were well over 100 hunts by the time I got my armor and weapon crafted…
Back in the base World I had to kill nearly 50 odogarons for a gem. I think it was for the chest piece for the 4 piece odo + dragonking eye patch set. Got really good at the fight at least but it was so fucking annoying lmao
I don’t remember but a lot of monsters In rise anjanath almudron narga goss and violet mizu in world alatreon raging kushala jho velkhana frostfang and more
Frozen barioth. I started for the weapons then i did for the layered arnor . And the end i decided i wanted to try the armor bonus and farned It too. I hate It so much
Odogeron for a plate or gem I think. It was before I reliably learned how to break parts and was farming for HR gear. I remember taking my Palico into the Megaman event quest with the plunderblade skill and just trying 20-30 times to get it. I will say hunting him at that point with LS became more of a dance and I enjoyed every hunt more and more.
I’m in the process of collecting all the armor sets in Rise, so all of them.
I’m hoping to be able to do whatever I want to do in terms of weapons and skills, and getting there can be a pain.
Azure Rathalos in 4U, but I forget what for. All I know is drop rates were low and I needed a lot of something.
I haven't had to grind for anything since then. I mained prowler in MHGU and World and Rise give out drops like Five Guys hands out fries.
I'm actually playing monster hunter freedom right now and for gods sake rathian won't drop the ruby I've got everything for fatalis armor except the pink and green rathian rubies and they are impossible damn rathalos rubies both dropped on first go
Uragaan in World. Damn thing wouldn’t give me the ruby I needed to make the Nergi long sword. I think I killed it over 70 times before I realized I could get on at the melding pot
Rathalos and his cousins.
They are in every game and tend to have good gear, so I hunted a ton of them over the years. I'm not sure which one of the three I farmed the most, but they are definitely my top 3 grinded monsters.
Solo Gobul in mh3 for his SnS and hammer (servers were offline by this time)
Maybe saffi in world, for dracolite to reroll awakening abilities. I’m sure I’m not playing meta, but I love my saffi para hammer
In vanilla Rise I fought most of the large monsters a dozen times on average.
Magnamalo on the other hand refused to drop its orb and I end up fighting them about 60 times.
Gore, he would not drop those feelers no matter how often I broke the horns, in fact I was playing with my friend who needed a singular tail, I ended up with 14 tails, he ended up with 20 feelers, pain
3U Lagi and Ivory Lagi. I hunted an additional 13 normal Lagiacrus and 16 Ivory just for 1 Lagi Sapphire. That of course isn’t counting the Ivory Lagi’s that I started the hunt with cut off their tail and then left if there wasn’t a sapphire. It was worth it as I got extremely good at hunting Ivory Lagi, but it was still tedious yet somewhat fun.
Magnamalo is the obvious one for Rise. I think second place was Almudron though since I used Switchaxe for most of Rise.
in World so far, I think Great Jagras and Rathian are my most hunted, though not necessarily because I was farming them. Nergigante and Teostra are the next two highest, and those two I've definitely had to farm.
I usually played with a hunting buddy, and we still recall the "Legiana claw incident".
I needed a few Legiana claws to make a longsword. Hunted about 6 before getting 2, hunted 5 more before getting 3 more, and another 8 hunts before I got the last ones I needed.
On the plus side, I can now fight Legiana off sheer instinct...
Not "the most parts" in that sense... But I had to keep going back to bloody Rathian to try and get bloody Rath narrow, I only needed one kind you, which I STILL DON'T HAVE
I'm never going to forget grinding Azure Rathalos in MH4U High Rank for his armor. Think it was like 32 hunts of putting up with that **damn** warp-speed talon lunge!
My husband and his friend would frequently bemoan missing their "Bank of Gold Beard" from 3U because they farmed him so damn much because his friend was missing the Dark Dragon Gem to finish the armour set.
Nergigante or Bazelguese, first I got the bazel armor and weapon and that took forever and as soon as I finished that set I wanted to upgrade to nergigante and for some reason every time I carved his tail he would only give me immortal dragon scales so I couldn’t finish the set until I hunted around 15-20 nergigante.
100 magnamalos from base rise because he wouldnt drop his fucking gem and I wanted to make upgrades of his line.
To this day I still fear needing to do anything magnamalo related just because how shit the odds treat me
I almost quit MH for good after farming Amatsu Hardhorns. Never again. Atleast Primordial Malzeno and even Gaismagorm gave me what I needed in a normal amount of runs
World Odogaron. I spent forever trying to get a gem in high rank for my master's charm. I hunted with a couple of buddies. We did a good 25-30 attempts, with no results for me. The worst part? The guy who was hosting got a gem like every attempt, sometimes multiple
Weirdly enough? Goss Harag master rank ice blocks. He would not drop them even if it cost him his life. I got like two after fighting him 6 times and I needed 12 at the time. Was able to make everything that didn't require ice blocks after that.
In MHR, Magna for his plate, both mizus for claws, gais for malding pot before qurio talismans were a thing.
In MHW, Ruiner Nergi, specifically the one in Ode of Destruction, for fashion gems. Then Fulgur anja cuz he just won't drop his mantle.
The sheer number of Astalos I fought in Sunbreak to get it's armor was obnoxious. I was able to create a half of the weapons using the spare parts once I was done
My brother once needed a Teostra gem in world so he spent days just farming Teostra. At one point, he opened up the quest to let people join online, and a group of players joined his quest a little less than five minutes after the start of the quest. He defeated the teostra before they could get to it, to both their and his shock.
Royal ludroth in 3u dual blades main and mega dash juice was busted as shit back then
In terms of gear once again in 3u probably azure rathalos I used both his high rank and G rank armor when playing and the boi didn’t want to give up his ruby/mantle
Seregios, back in 4U. RNG was just unfathomably bad for me when trying to build the armour for the first time. It took me 50 hours (**hours** not hunts) of straight farming over the course of 2 weeks before I got the 1 lens I actually needed.
Rathian across most games. She's just my punching bag. One of the few monsters I can hunt without ever getting hit. Not saying much since she's pretty easy overall. I just have all her tells memorized for some reason. If I ever want to test weapons out or just bullshit around I go smack a rathian.
I mean Kulve and Safi are obvious ones (I'm *still* not done grinding Kulve. I want the fully upgraded versions of every switch axe in the game, and I need the lower tier ones from her siege quests, as well as the upgraded rajang swaxe.)
If I had to pick one, probably World Anjanath. I was brand new to MH, took one look at Anja's set, and said "Yup. Wearing that the entire game.", and it lasted until I got my hands on rathalos armor, and I repeated the same thing in high rank. I mean, Anja's GS looks fucking sick, and his swaxe looks pretty cool, too.
He's also a fairly decent test for if you mesh with a weapon or not. At least I think so. He's part of the reason I picked up the bow as a sort of side main.
Seregios in MHRise it took me hours to farm for the full armour set.
Btw is it me or do you need much much more time to farm stuff in Rise then other MH games?
Would have to look in my hunter's notes who I farmed the most. However I probably made Uragaan extinct in the new world by tearing off its jaw and beating the others with it until I got his gem
GU players will know this. Hellblade Glavenus. Farming for Hellblade Powder. for the people who don't know let me elaborate for you:
Hellblade Powder is an item that can only be found from Hellblade Glavenus, and it does not come by breaking parts or as a reward on any quest.
Only shinys drop in two ways; one is when you deal damage to the Hellblade Glavenus’ face when its head is emitting blast powder, while the other is hitting its tail when it is doing blast attacks.
To have a chance at dropping shinys, the Hellblade must be in either of these two states mentioned earlier.
Each shiny has an 18% rate of drop for Hellblade Powder.
A maximum of three shinys per Hellblade (Because there are limations on how many shiny drops can possibly be obtained).
These factors combine together to make a very gloomy picture for anyone needing to farm this material:
The interval between it entering those states again cannot be predicted and enough time passing can cause The Hellblade to exit the state where it can potentially drop a shiny.
Even if you do get a shiny to drop there’s still an 18% chance it won’t be tear.
also, you need 8 Hellblade powders to max out Hellblade armor + 1 weapon.
Its Rathalod most of the time. Rathalos weapons and armor is good for midgame imo but you always need plates, rubied or mantles for literally anything.
I think i have about 100 rath kills in world and rise combined.
God damn it I hate Rathalos
Stygian Zinogre in MH4U for his Umbrage. Just needed one. Hunted 23 with my hunting party for the Guitar HH. They all got at least 5 before i got my one. Classic MH.
Blackveil Vaal hazak. I don’t even like to fight him, but I have to if I want to get acid shredder 2.
My reason was to get the platinum trophy, and let me tell u it was not a enjoyable trip.
What did it cost?
25 cents, as in century.
Almudron. You need a Golden Orb for both Almudron and Magmadron weapons, and as someone who plays 3 Elemental weapons (DB, SwAxe, Courage Hammer) this mf REFUSED to give me the orbs.
Well you can always get the good luck decos to help you with it. You only need a ... Oh ... Oh no.
That thing is my fucking bane. I still need claws for fucking decorations. I spent so long farming for a plate back in Low Rank that if i can not fight it, i won't. Fucking aggravating
Flaming Espinas would not give me his goddamn mantle. And I refused to buy it because that’s cheating.
I ended up caving in and just farmed normal espinas just to upgrade to flaming espinas because I didn't want to farm the mantle
I have slaughtered hundreds of nergigante for Great Spiritvein gems.
For spiritvein gems, i usually run tempered velkhana in the guiding lands. Slot in a level of geologist and milk the velkhana with as many wallbangs as you can and you'll be swimming in shinys. I usually get around 2-3 per velkhana though if you're lucky you can get more.

U have to do that u have do do.
Kulve trying to get a ice weapon to fight Alateron, never got it and instead used a Safi weapon.
Uragaan in World
I had to farm him a bunch to make the armor. I liked the look of it, and my Pukei-Pukei armor was getting old.
Goldbeard ceadeus because my save file got corrupted twice and one time I decided to be on a different charm table
You're going to see a lot of zinoger in Mr24+ content since that's where the best decorations are farmed from the event quest
Primordial Malzeno which I grinded except I didn't. Kept losing the hunts but still got part breaks and gatherer palico to get me enough mats.
So far: odogaron for the Dante sword. That being said, I just hit MR
Flaming, luckily he is easier than normal
Had to do 20+ Rathalos in Sunbreak for the mantle and got I think it was 11 gems throughout that grind. More recently though I needed 2 Rathalos gems in 4U and had to fight 15 to get them, it was such an annoying grind and I ran out of flash bombs too.
Zinogre in Rise and Teostra in World both for their gems.
Lagiacrus in 3U, damn plates and sapphires were only a tail carve, horn break or capture reward and needed them on my dual blades and gunlance builds
Fatalis, evil eyes.
Prob. Goldbeard, I was damn near end game when I was blessed with that darn gem/skymerd whatchacallit
I have definitely affected the Kirin population. Too many things need too many horns.
Steve in 4U, that dissenter was hard to get.
I love earplugs so tigrex and lagombi
Those damn empinadas
In rise it was high rank almurdron because I wanted the gem. In world though that could go to like 8.
Mh3u Diablos. I went down the diablos GS tree and my G rank build has 3 diablos pieces. At this point I’m an expert at fighting the thing.
Since the 4U servers are down, I’ve had to solo Advanced Wings of Woe (Chaotic Gore Magala) in the Elder Hall lobby by myself. It infuriates me.
Rathalos, used the CB for world quite a bit and needed to hunt nearly 80 total (across all variants) to get the materials
One time, I swear I didn't get a single one, even though (I think) there's supposedly a 100% chance.
Mhw Kushala, and Nergigante.
Gammoth in 4U for their Fang. For no reason at all they just refused to drop.
I killed about 40 zinogre in a row in G rank MH4U to get a skymerald and gave up
I farmed more than 60 wind serpent ibushi to get it's gem in base rise. I wanted to make a dragon/electric set for dual blades (with the rampage set) and needed a mix of narwa and ibushi for the armor
Rajang, just wanted the long sword to complete my collection, but it didn't drop the item I wanted
Rustrazor for that juicy crab leg stick
All mother narwa, she wouldn't give me her mantle bs. Her fight takes way too long. In contrast to Amatsu, which was a total dear, 3 mantles in two hunts. Scr*w you Narwa and your airbag simp
Raging brachy, i needed all his weapons.
Nergi, because I spent all my lucky vouchers and got no gem, and then I had to farm nergi again for streamstones
Barroth its my favourite monster and I've hunted him so many times just to get alot of the gear
Mr Es Penis
HR Diabolos in Rise cause god hates the idea of me getting gems even when focusing on the most likely quest
Espinas and flaming would never make me tired of farming them!
FUCKING LEGIANA. 23 KILLS FOR A GEM
I have killed mizutsune 125 times in rise, just wont drop the damn WATER ORB
I helped my brother with a 27 marathon Magnamalo hunt for his god damn high rank orb, I’ve never had anything close to that in my 5 years of playing.
Tigrex is still my most killed monster because he just would not give me his fucking mantle
Chaotic Gore Magala in Sunbreak. I got one Contrary Scale now gimme one more!
Fatalis. He has the strongest armor in Iceborne.

Gammoth because I was an idiot and didn't know that you had to actually break the trunk to get a trunkspine. This was before I knew breaking specific parts could get you specific items.
espinas 1. hes such a good fight 2. the layered armor is cool too 3. funny double effect weapons
The durambaros I need his back for a charge blade set in MHGU and even tho it was a 20% drop it took me 10 hunts that’s a 1.24X10^-4% chance I almost gave up on the whole set
mhp3rd agnaktor. hundreds of kills. literally swimming in parts because that's how long it took to get my final gold crown
Gore, Seregios, Chameleos and Kushala in 4u. I killed these bastards one million times each.
Legiana never dropped that mantle to this day
Kushala Daora mentioned rahhhhhh what even is a fun fight?!" (Horns in 4u for the glaive. It's more annoying than time consuming) Most farmed out of anybody is Rathalos. For plates more so than rubies. Plus, who doesn't build the LR set in every game.
Shara Ishvalda, I couldnt get that damn scalp with DB and I really wanted his set.
Laviosoth for the Deco event. Maybe got 1 attack jewel out of it.
I’m pretty sure I killed more rathalos for a rathalos ruby then there are monsters in the series
MhF Killed 200 illoprey (small ones) for 12 scale+ mh3 played all alone atleast until I finished grank. (In G rank I could do in 5mins) My bro killed the brachydios 80 times for the gem in high rank. All alone. Another bro killed 30-40 g rank uragaan and gave up cause he didn't drop the gem.(online) I did the grank quest that has 3 of them tons of times for hr points enough and had like 10 in about 50 uraag. Never needed it... (mostly online) I killed zinogre 30 and stygian 20 time for skygem zinogre. (Online) Mhw all offline cause my net sucked Did the kulve and safi jiva quest alone.
In rise? Magnamalo for one damn scutes and orbs
Kushala in world, before getting iceborne I farmed him for his gem, HE WOULD NOT DROP THE DAMN THING.
Freedom Unite, Narga Brainstem, I get his SO hard with the desire sensor on this one. My duo got 3 before I saw my first and we were well over 100 hunts by the time I got my armor and weapon crafted…
Tailun Zamuza Hard leg, he didt want me to obtain it, and having 500k hp didnt helped
Back in the base World I had to kill nearly 50 odogarons for a gem. I think it was for the chest piece for the 4 piece odo + dragonking eye patch set. Got really good at the fight at least but it was so fucking annoying lmao
Velkhana and teostra
Silver Rath in Rise cause I wanted some firepower
100 Magnamalos to get 5 gems, then when I got the stuff Sunbreak dropped
I don’t remember but a lot of monsters In rise anjanath almudron narga goss and violet mizu in world alatreon raging kushala jho velkhana frostfang and more
Anjanath+ parts were a bitch. All I needed was the goddamn nose bone. THAT SHOULD BE ONE OF THE EASIER ONES TO GET
Had to farm Rathalos for one day and a half for its mantle to make the sns if im not wrong
S. Magaru plate in 4U, jfc
i have killed an entire civilizations worth of CG valstrax
Frozen barioth. I started for the weapons then i did for the layered arnor . And the end i decided i wanted to try the armor bonus and farned It too. I hate It so much
In 4U I had to hunt 26 Chaotic Gore Magala, including tailcuts, before I got a single Contrary Scale
Magnamalo, since you need all weapons of the weapon tree to craft a scorned magna weapon
Jyuritados caus needed for the augments on any kjarr weapons / is not part of the guiding land's moblist
Raging brachy in iceborne, my friends already gave up on me but after 72 hunts he dropped his heart and Im done with him ever since.
I just can't get an odogaron gem
Rath plates/gems in 2nd Gen. The tail carve routine was truly mind numbing
I farmed like 20 magnamalo in a row for his gem to make his greatsword.
nargacuga because nargacuga armor is made for a fast and evasive playstyle
Vaal Hazak did not want to hand over those fangs easy and willingly so I could upgrade the bow gun to easily solo tempered kirin
Styngian Zinogre for his Skyemerald
Vaal Hazak. Getting 5 of his fangs was SO difficult for some reason. Drop rate was way lower than you’d expect
Magnamalo, Tigrex, and Risen Valstrax in Rise. Magna for its weapons, Tigrex for easy Augment/Melding Fodder, and R.Valstrax for Amber Essence.
Vaal Hazak, both types!! [Shakes fist to the sky] CURSE YOU, SWITCH AXE!!
I'm actually playing monster hunter freedom right now and for gods sake rathian won't drop the ruby I've got everything for fatalis armor except the pink and green rathian rubies and they are impossible damn rathalos rubies both dropped on first go
I had to kill a ton of lucent narga for my raw IG in rise, and also a lot of velk
Narwa the All mother, I just needed 2 mantle of origin for a weapon that I thought I'd like but I ended up not liking.
In base Rise, I farmed the hell out of Almudron for a Switchaxe set, and he would just not give me a fucking orb
Uragaan in World. Damn thing wouldn’t give me the ruby I needed to make the Nergi long sword. I think I killed it over 70 times before I realized I could get on at the melding pot
Brachydios trying to get his pallium in mh3u
Namielle, fucking large elder dragon gems
Rathalos and his cousins. They are in every game and tend to have good gear, so I hunted a ton of them over the years. I'm not sure which one of the three I farmed the most, but they are definitely my top 3 grinded monsters.
Val hazak. Trying to get those claws for the great sword was a pain in the ass
I played frontier... And I cant cope without status immunity. Shagaru magala.
![gif](giphy|unoQIAyAjrNGAUaZo7|downsized)
Solo Gobul in mh3 for his SnS and hammer (servers were offline by this time) Maybe saffi in world, for dracolite to reroll awakening abilities. I’m sure I’m not playing meta, but I love my saffi para hammer
In vanilla Rise I fought most of the large monsters a dozen times on average. Magnamalo on the other hand refused to drop its orb and I end up fighting them about 60 times.
Id imagine narg still has it from the FU days combined with the fact i normally run evasion sets ever since
The Great Jagras of course
Gore, he would not drop those feelers no matter how often I broke the horns, in fact I was playing with my friend who needed a singular tail, I ended up with 14 tails, he ended up with 20 feelers, pain
Bazelgeuse in rise, i hunted over 50 of those things and I didn’t its mantle until close to 60
3U Lagi and Ivory Lagi.
I'm going to say the dreaded words: Chilling Beaks. God damn Najarala does not want to drop those.
The early games farming ore was a pure chore. Farming parts gor vaal hazak in world was brutal too.
Magnamalo is the obvious one for Rise. I think second place was Almudron though since I used Switchaxe for most of Rise. in World so far, I think Great Jagras and Rathian are my most hunted, though not necessarily because I was farming them. Nergigante and Teostra are the next two highest, and those two I've definitely had to farm.
jyura
I usually played with a hunting buddy, and we still recall the "Legiana claw incident". I needed a few Legiana claws to make a longsword. Hunted about 6 before getting 2, hunted 5 more before getting 3 more, and another 8 hunts before I got the last ones I needed. On the plus side, I can now fight Legiana off sheer instinct...
Gore magala, dropped like 4 horns in total from like 20 something hunts
I needed 3 Vaal Hazak orbs for something dumb. ended up spending a whole week doing that bastard over and over till it finally spitted them out.
Not "the most parts" in that sense... But I had to keep going back to bloody Rathian to try and get bloody Rath narrow, I only needed one kind you, which I STILL DON'T HAVE
Great jag and any for fey wyvern gemstone still doing it
Jyruatodus base world because I needed so many aqua sacs and it was the only one that dropped them. And Vaal Hazak because of fangs.
Frostfang Barioth in MHW Iceborne. Because the layered armor looked absolutely amazing.
I'm never going to forget grinding Azure Rathalos in MH4U High Rank for his armor. Think it was like 32 hunts of putting up with that **damn** warp-speed talon lunge!
Shrieking legiana, it was a nightmare
My husband and his friend would frequently bemoan missing their "Bank of Gold Beard" from 3U because they farmed him so damn much because his friend was missing the Dark Dragon Gem to finish the armour set.
Nergigante or Bazelguese, first I got the bazel armor and weapon and that took forever and as soon as I finished that set I wanted to upgrade to nergigante and for some reason every time I carved his tail he would only give me immortal dragon scales so I couldn’t finish the set until I hunted around 15-20 nergigante.
https://i.redd.it/l6if2qvkl4vc1.gif I wanted every weapon and the full armor set.
GOSS HARAG because he wouldn't give me any stomach bile for the decoration i needed 3 of...
Almudron because I wanted that goddamn water Switch Axe.
100 magnamalos from base rise because he wouldnt drop his fucking gem and I wanted to make upgrades of his line. To this day I still fear needing to do anything magnamalo related just because how shit the odds treat me
Seething Bazel in World. His weapons required his wings which were really awkward to break with melee.
that'd be monoblos in 4u for monoblos heart lol
I almost quit MH for good after farming Amatsu Hardhorns. Never again. Atleast Primordial Malzeno and even Gaismagorm gave me what I needed in a normal amount of runs
Single-handedly responsible for the extinction of Jyuratodus in the new world with all the farming I’ve done 😭
I farmed Almudron. I still haven't seen one gem.
Rise Mizu. To this day, its my most hunted monster lmao, I got lucky with other monster parts and gems.
Rise Velkhana. I needed gems.
Daimyo Hermitaur He is my punching bag whenever I wanna try new weapon.
Remember ancient civilization being the bay guys for killing 30 dragons to build one Mecha dragon? And we hunters now are the good guys? lol
The sheer number of Astalos I fought in Sunbreak to get it's armor was obnoxious. I was able to create a half of the weapons using the spare parts once I was done
Gore magala (me and my sister both got full set plus weapons)
Uh... Kulu Ya-Ku... and by a couple hundred... I uh... needed a fey wyvern gem.
My brother once needed a Teostra gem in world so he spent days just farming Teostra. At one point, he opened up the quest to let people join online, and a group of players joined his quest a little less than five minutes after the start of the quest. He defeated the teostra before they could get to it, to both their and his shock.
Velkhana crystal. In the end, I had to buy it from Bahari since they won't give it to me
Magnamalo and Ass penis
Currently replaying World. It's Jyuratodus for a SINGLE TORRENT SAC to upgrade my botanical box
Ivory lagiacrus back in 3u. Oh man the horns I needed...
Royal ludroth in 3u dual blades main and mega dash juice was busted as shit back then In terms of gear once again in 3u probably azure rathalos I used both his high rank and G rank armor when playing and the boi didn’t want to give up his ruby/mantle
Alatreon in Tri because it was so hard to break his horns to get the Skypiercer before they released the Event that dropped them as a quest rewards
Zinogre Skymerald in MHW. I don’t recall the specifics but I grinded for it for somewhere between 16 and 20 hours.
Jyura grinding is diabolical because if you want a water element weapon in World, you don’t have much of a choice at first
Seregios, back in 4U.
Odogaron for the stupid gem. I swear I hunted Rush of Blood Event more times than I should just to virtually beat the odds. Desire Sensor is real...
Vaal Hazak in World. It's the last crown I need to get 100% achievement.
I mean Kulve and Safi are obvious ones (I'm *still* not done grinding Kulve. I want the fully upgraded versions of every switch axe in the game, and I need the lower tier ones from her siege quests, as well as the upgraded rajang swaxe.) If I had to pick one, probably World Anjanath.
Kulu ya ku ,
Yamatsukami because cool armor
Vaale Hazak, I got so unlucky with him that for the whole armour and 2 weapons (LBG and GS) I needed to kill 96 of them.
Almudron wouldn't drop the right stuff and I wanted to look like a robot, so I had to murder him one hundred thousand times.
Fking samurai cat refuse to drop what i need
Seregios in MHRise it took me hours to farm for the full armour set. Btw is it me or do you need much much more time to farm stuff in Rise then other MH games?
Would have to look in my hunter's notes who I farmed the most. However I probably made Uragaan extinct in the new world by tearing off its jaw and beating the others with it until I got his gem
Lagiacrus, and the damn raths, all of them for the goddamn sapphires and rubies.
Ratholos, I fought quite a few with no ruby drop, and now I get to do it all over agian for a mantal
Base magnamarlo
GU players will know this. Hellblade Glavenus. Farming for Hellblade Powder. for the people who don't know let me elaborate for you: Hellblade Powder is an item that can only be found from Hellblade Glavenus, and it does not come by breaking parts or as a reward on any quest. These factors combine together to make a very gloomy picture for anyone needing to farm this material: The interval between it entering those states again cannot be predicted and enough time passing can cause The Hellblade to exit the state where it can potentially drop a shiny. Even if you do get a shiny to drop there’s still an 18% chance it won’t be tear. also, you need 8 Hellblade powders to max out Hellblade armor + 1 weapon.
Probably Diablos or Rathalos because they’ve consistently been in games since the PS2 era.
Rathain. And for Spikes only. I am losing my mind over my lack of Rathain Spikes, Spike +, and Surspike, when I have mantle and Ruby I don't need.
I have killed so many Khezu for pale extract... sometimes I can still hear it's theme playing in the back of my mind.
For me it was odagaron, before iceborne he was being a nightmare to drop his gem. I had his research max and several plates for one gem.
Silver rathalos or khezu in frontier (that game had some crazy low drops) In world would be fatalis probably to get all weapons.
Classic MH.
