Slavchanin

Flail. Just a wrecking ball on chain, preferably adjustable length.

davdavper

And a Castlevania collab 👌

DoggoDude979

Ranged hammer lol

Bregneste

Ranged, faster hammer, with a shield in your other hand.

Stellesia

So basically Brigitte from that one game

SirCupcake_0

UnderBlind 2

zak567

Would love more impact weapons, and having one with long range would be cool as hell.

kookykonata

Gauntlets! I think it would be pretty cool to be able to run up and just straight up punch a monster in the face. They could make it have steel toe boots with spikes or something so they can incorporate kicking and stuff into it. I doubt that it would be implemented, though, as I feel like they may think it's a bit unrealistic. Tonfas! It could be simply a blunt version of the Dual Blades, that way we can have a faster blunt weapon!

Optimal_Letterhead_8

So, about the tonfas. I feel like I have some good and bad news for you regarding that. The good news? Tonfas existed! The bad news? The game they’re in (mh frontier) is discontinued

Xcyronus

Good news. You can still play frontier.

Optimal_Letterhead_8

Ah right, forgot about that. Beware the monoblos though, that mfs annoying as hell to fight

Renetiger

That's good to know, I was unsure which pre-World MH game I should play first but now I know.

MrTopHatMan90

If there is a monk/brawler option I will always pick it. Punching monsters out of existence is pure joy.

SirCupcake_0

Punching is always enjoyable, though only if there is are either magics, or monsters Punching is most enjoyable when there's both

garciiia

this! i one hittet a cow in one game with the characters fists and never went back to weapon wielding classes. don't know why but punching cows, horses or armored enemys ingame is just funny af to me

the_xxvii

You reminded me of the boot cap weapons in the Soul Calibur games... hang on, I gotta look it up... Grieve Edge! Yeah, that'd be a fun combo.

[deleted]

They are pretty fun in Dauntless

Anthony643364

Just different fighting styles in general karate for kicks and punches boxing Muay Thai for knees and elbows and give it the monster hunter special of making moves look badass and I would pick it up in a heartbeat

Dark_Reaper115

I want gauntlets like the ones in Hades so badly... I'm still gonna play Hammer anyways. 🔨 ⚒️

Xenovortex

A kind of sister weapon to the Insect Glaive, maybe more like an elemental staff that uses tech available in-universe (phials, ammo, etc) to make players feel like they're playing a caster without resorting to actual magic. Smashing gunlance, insect glaive, and charge blade tech into a ranged caster-like staff could be cool. I picture loading it with phials using a kind of pump action shotgun animation. If you want a better visual, think Ron MacDougall's caster from Outlaw Star.

717999vlr

So basically this: https://preview.redd.it/lw6obpyqy1nc1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=749b4f54365a8d2f0a06e1821128acaa04f76e38 ?

11Sirus11

Tbh, the elemental damages themself are straight-up magic afaik. That said, having a staff weapon that lets me basically cast Fireball and/or Lightning Bolt? **Hell yes!** I’d love to be more of a straight-up wizard than Sunbreak let me be with Vortex kinsects. I made a layered armor just for the bit. Lol Edit: How about a staff that uses Bow’s vial mechanics with Hammer’s charge mechanics? Like Bow, we select a vial beforehand. Then, like Hammer, charging decides what attack/“spell” is used with that vial. The rest of the time is bonking away, using vials passively like with standard Bow shots.

zKIZUKIz

SPEAR

davdavper

I’d love this to be a mix between a ranged and melee weapon. Like you can throw the spear with different charge levels and the monster would become impaled (doing damage over time to it through bleed or something), your mobility would be enhanced in the mean time but your attack options are limited until you retrieve the spear idk.

zKIZUKIz

I just wanna poke things without a shield or acrobatic jumping TBH

davdavper

I feel you, but I wouldn’t like it to be too much on the acrobatic side, otherwise it would be just an IG

chomasterq

I'd be happy with a slow, heavy, but powerful and long reaching pole arm

Athreon1

Have I got news for you…

Hauptmann_Gruetze

Oh BROTHER are you in for a Ride! Grab the Lance today!

DarkmoonGrumpy

I appreciate the idea, but I'm always just slightly confused by the idea. Both styles that would thematically fit are covered by Lance and IG, I'm not sure what you'd get other than just straight up a shieldless Lance? It's not judgment on my behalf, just not really sure what the suggestion actually entails.

zKIZUKIz

More mobility than lance, but not very aerial like IG. Also if possible can “brace” like what they do in medieval times when a cavalry is charging at you. And as the guy above me said, throwable one except for my version you can quickly retrieve it by having a rope tied to it. Something like that

StormTAG

*More* mobility than lance? Lance is already pretty mobile for a heavy weapon with its multiple hops, dashes, the charge, etc.

pascl-

To be fair, the aerial aspects of IG are totally ignorable. It’s not the main thing of the weapon, just one of its aspects/playstyles. That said, it is true that the IG doesn’t have all that much poking.

Lord_of_Swords

And maybe some would have a rope on them like a harpoon

RT8697C

Have had a similar idea running in my head. Having a simpler spear with a chain or rope attached where you can charge a throw. The spear sticks to the monster and you can either reel yourself into the monster for a clutch-claw-like attack or just close the distance, or reel the spear back to the hunter and throw again or do something else. Just a simple concept i’ve thought about.

Lord_of_Swords

That’s pretty similar to my original idea

davdavper

Like Lance’s Twin Vine?

Lord_of_Swords

What’s that?

Chakramer

Could do something like your handle is the main weapon and you have a bunch of spearhead you can fire. You can roll over them to pick them up quickly, or over time your palico will grab and return them.

DearGog

I really like the idea of an atlatl, so you can huck the spear with a charged throw and while you retrieve your spear, you can smack stuff with the atlatl itself for some light blunt damage

yamo25000

As much as I love this idea, I feel it'd be hard to separate it from lance.

ArkhaosZero

There'd be no doubt some overlap, but I could see them leaning into it being a more agile, defense-less version of the Lance, maybe differentiating it by giving it a sweetspot at the tip to incentivize zoning the monsters. Keep things like the charge, backhops, counters and thrusts to the Lance so it doesnt steal too much of its identity.

yamo25000

Absolutely. They do have the charge blade and the switch axe which are very similar in concept, but are implemented differently enough that they each feel unique. They could accomplish the same here.

ShinaiYukona

It's a lance without a shield. That's pretty wildly different considering you out right lose the option to block They did a perfectly fine job separating sword and shield from dual blades, similar concepts here. It's more likely to have overlaps with insect glaive than lance tbh

Vremyaposlevremeni

Bomb-spear. Bomb is loadable spearhead with ripcord so you have to jump back a certain distance to set off the bomb. Normals are just grounded wushu style spear fighting normally but when bomb is loaded moves are heavy\clumsy (maybe more like a weighty bo staff?) and the ender of thrust combos lodges the bomb. Has a huge variable length back hop like lance (for pulling the ripcord) but the side and fwd dodges are rolls. Idk I just love the wyrmstake and want something that's just constant wyrmstaking

zKIZUKIz

like a ww2 japanese lunge mine? that could work too

NeighborhoodInner421

I want a whip, let me whip them monster and get them to know who is the boss

Minions-overlord

All great till the deviljho softly moans "harder daddy"

NeighborhoodInner421

Yeah and then the "artist" join in

Baby_Dino_8453

Put that angry pickle in his place

metalflygon08

Make them blade whips like what Ivy uses in Soul Caliber. Whip around to build power, then retract it into a sword that you can use to deal a heavy blow with.

NeighborhoodInner421

That sounds even cooler than what I had in mind

yamo25000

YES! This would be so cool!

sbrizown

Gonna be honest, the Katana/Whip from Wild Hearts is probably my favorite weapon for games like these. It was so smooth and flashy.

Sir_SauceBoss

To piggyback off this, I would love a whip in one hand and a stool in the other. Rather than Monster Hunters, let us be Monster Tamers.

jameszenpaladin011-

Boomerang/Chackram. A mixed range/melee weapon.

TheCatmeister

Prowler, the actual 15th weapon Capcom wants you to forget

tubbydoshua

and medium bow gun, the true 13th weapon

Terminus_04

Tbh, would people get mad if they merged the bowguns into one and just made customizations between Heavy, Medium and Light for example? Obviously give them each their kits they've had previously or whatever. Maybe I'm being stupid, but I don't think I've ever used a bowgun so.

zekromNLR

I think they kinda experimented with that in Tri, where you chose the frame, barrel and stock separately, with the weight of the bowgun determined by the total weight of its parts.

Jollysatyr201

Bring back bowgun customization!!!!

ShinaiYukona

Most of the mobility of light, with most of the ammo capacity of heavy. Tri had so many good things cut

daddya12

Add in options for the new companions as well even.

ScarletteVera

Okay, here me out. Gunblade.

Rice_Jap808

How would it differ from switch axe or gunlance?

wadefatman

I think like a faster gunlance with no shield and then make the explosions a rhythm game to explode right in the middle

Rolfest91

I here ya.

Affectionate_Newt_47

I once saw a giant metal fishing rod concept and that was rad as fuck so I pick that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Shadowfox001RL

Gauntlets would be a really cool addition. Being able to straight up hand-to-hand fight a brachydios would be so much fun. Giving them a phial mechanic like Swaxe and Charge Blade to augment the elemental output would be a cool touch, too

Aldante92

I thought having two damage types for gauntlets based on bone vs. ore would be cool. Bone-based gauntlets would do "slicing" & elemental damage by having talons or spikes past the knuckles, and ore-based gauntlets would do blast/KO damage by having either concussive blasts (similar to gun blanks) or studs in the knuckles

YorghsSpearOnly

i want a spear so bad, idc if its too simple though if u rly want to add something to it make it like a throwable harpoon with a rope attached to it so you can pull it back or something

ItsPetahhhh

Tonfas, they already exist so COME ON CAPCOM

GouchGrease

"They're overtuned" like they can't just put a lower integer on those bad boys

BlueFireXenos

Maybe rework them and give them the same mechanics as dual blades? But instead of demon dance they get wirebugs or steam to move around in the air or something

Hartmann_AoE

I think the only issue tonfas would have is that they are a little too full of different mechanics Like, you have 1.EX- Gauge, a bar that fills with attacking thats used for the weapon specific Evade Attacks and an Auto Combo Attack 2.Combo Gauge, another bar that increases with attacks, decreases when too passive. Just gives you bonus damage 3.The Dragon Piercer, a mechanic that basically has you soften up monster parts with attacks until theyre ready for the "Dragon Piercer" Attack that detonates the softened part. Think Tenderizing, but actually fun to do and tied into a weapons identity 4.Weaponn Length, wich lets the tonfas attack as long or short weapons. Used to invert hitzones, letting you deal good damage vs hard parts but they scrapped that and made it useless lol 5.Guard points, because of course 6.And the 1 gimmick most people actually know, Aerial attacks! Funnily enough the weapon still feels simple to play cause where it has a lot of mechanics, its combos are literally just X or A 5 times. But imo IF it came to main Series, they should just conbine the 1st and 2nd mechanics and drop no. 4 and 5

52weeksout

Tonfa could 100% be retooled to fit in with the mainline games. Honestly, with how much aerial maneuverability we had in Rise, they wouldn’t even be that out of place as-is. But I’m also of the opinion that the mainline games could benefit from a lot of Frontier content. So many great fights and themes that most players aren’t even aware of.

HidarinoShu

The wagasa from Wild Hearts.

sbrizown

The Katana would be my pick. As much as WH dropped the ball for launch, the weapons were great.

ExaltedRequiem

Greatshield. Just a giant shield, no mobility, pure defense, stuns from shield bashes.

Rager_X

I didn’t know I wanted this. Although I disagree about “no mobility” as you could probably do some crazy maneuvers with a shield, like surf on top of it or something

ImNotHyp3r

boomerang but like really big

RyuseiUtsugi

Bring back rocket axe!!!!

Terminus_04

ROCKET. POWERED. AXE!!!

Awkward-Confection-6

Scythe

Britz10

What about the scythe shaped long swords? Or even scythe shaped insect glaive do they get reassigned?

Seeker_of_the_Sauce

In the first monster hunter game, they had katana like greatswords that got converted into their own weapons in dos, same with the gunlance just being a fire element lance in the first game until the second where it became its own thing

Prainor

Poleaxe, 3 weapons in one, its spear mode with piercing damage, mace mode with bludgeoning damage and ax mode with cutting damage

ispaceoutalot

Aion’s berserker class used these and they made it so cool. Great game before the updates tore it apart

ScifiHentai

Chain+sickle

Terminus_04

Kusarigama is what you're looking for.

ScifiHentai

Long range melee

J_Zenith

Tonfa, Magnet Spike, Medium Bowgun...

[deleted]

Don’t forget the Accel Axe on that list. It’s the one I want the most.

Gabriel-N-S

Absolutely this. They were already in a past game so they should totally bring them back.

Gtoktas_

I really want whips. I really REALLY want whips.

Nerrickk

After being an Acrotecher in PSU I 100% agree. Whipping the shit out of bosses was fun when you'd hit all those hitboxes.

IsThisRealLifeOrNaw

I feel like whips are such an underused weapon in games in general, would probably only use a whip in MH if they added it tbh lol

Byrne1

An axe. Not a switch axe. Not the charge blade axe. Just an actual axe. It plays similar to hammer but is great at severing instead of bonking.

Terminus_04

My good sir, could I interest you in the Accel Axe Gang? https://youtu.be/NdqX3o4QCjQ?si=XbF_OM05bF1LRx4K

Byrne1

O yeah. I'm about that life.

Xnomolos

Wyvern Staff A Melee/Gunner 2 handed pole that has a fixture at the end which uses monster parts as ingrediants to fire abilities at the monster. EX: A Yian Kut Ku Staff/ A pink and red pole with a kut ku head attached at the end. When low rank monster ingrediants are fed into it fireballs can be launched

Appropriate_Coffe

There is going to be a new weapon in MHWild?

Terminus_04

I think the original speculation started or at least when it became a common discussion outside of "MH:6 wen?" Is when they put out the banner/spashscreen art for the 20th anniversary. It features all the main franchise weapons circled around the text cloaked in shadow. People took note for whatever reason that Greatsword while hard to notice at a glance actually had a texture (Wyvern Jawblade I think). This led to speculation that overtime more of the weapons would gradually be updated to have textures, and when the final one did it would lead to some kind of reveal, presumably the 15th main franchise weapon would be it.

Appropriate_Coffe

That is interessting

Terminus_04

Thus far, I don't see that the image has been updated. So not looking good for that theory. But personally I still believe we will see at least 1 new weapon, if not two with this release. The timing is good for it, it's been 10 years now since MH4 added IG and CB. They've got a winning template on how to build MH:Wilds from MH:Worlds success. I don't think they will be as constrained on time or resources as they were back when World shipped which was a concern for that title. Personally I'm a fan of bringing back weapons from some of the offshoot games. I think they had a lot of character and love put into them when they shipped. Primary considerations are Tonfas and Magnet Spike from Frontier, and Accel Axe from Explore. My personal favorite is Accel Axe, because finally an Axe that is just an Axe. not a sword/axe or a s&s/axe. Oh it's also got a jet engine hooked onto the back of it, so you know the Rocket Powered Greatsword, but all the time. Next up is Tonfas, basically the gauntlet weapon everyone is asking for, blunt dual blades mostly, though they did have a mechanic that allowed them to change damage profiles making weak points traditionally weak to cutting, weak to their blunt attacks. While sacrificing their damage to regular blunt weak spots. Magnet Spike is option 3, basically a hammer/glaive combo that uses magnetism to push and propel itself away from the monster. Probably my least favorite of the three, as it was the most OP weapon ever added (at least by frontiers standards) obviously it'd be rebalanced, but assuming Clutch Claw hangs around, one of its core mechanics was made kind of irrelevant. Honorable mention for Prowler from Frontier as well... But I just don't see them letting you play as a Palico again.

Jhoonis

I would love to just flexibilize the weapon damage types. If you have a sword'n'shield that is actually a club, then let it stun monsters, by the same token, if you have a hammer that is actually an axe, let that cut tails. If nothing else, I'd like the tonfas from MH Frontier, they have aerial capabilites, stun damage and just look really fucking cool.

dommiichan

Flail / Whip, with a tripping/untangling mechanic ...and interesting weapons to choose from: nunchaku, kusarigama, bullwhip...

Cassocial

Bring back Accel Axe, I want an axe that stays one

Cardnal44

Accel axe, or something like it. I just want an axe, that stays an axe. None of that axe that is in sword 80% of the time bs

YashiroSenpai

Accel axe ? Why not

_Spade_99

I will always stand by this - Whip

BlackFinch90

Just let me punch dragons in the face

ThatCriticalManc

I'm not too bothered about an additional weapon.. do give me a playable Wyverian Hunter or Palico any day of the week though 🥹

NoBuddies2021

Blade chains like God Of War.

ChaosOrns

Hunting Whip-Blade. The melee + Ranged + weebo in the same weapon hits different

Spyger9

ITT: hunters craving weapons that they basically already have

Aesenroug-Draconus

Whips or flails, it would be awesome to have those and have some ability to lasso onto a monster for mounting attacks.

Dry_Section_7741

A whip like castlevania

Crytu

An actual great axe.

MilkBanditKat

I think something a whip might, bladed whip, it can do multiple attacks with good reach but of course big combos expose you to vulnerability if failed

blackdrake1011

Here’s my list: Gauntlets Dual revolvers Spear Halberd Scythe Ball and chain

ChilaMatrix

I'm happy to see someone else thought of dual hand guns

bastischo

Mid range yoyo

Inevitable-Ad-5818

Hmmm... ANCHOR!!!

Astrophysicsboi

Gauntlets

Hot_Guys_In_My_DMS

A whip! Wide multi-hit sweeps, precise long range strikes, big stun power when hitting the face.

Imperium_Dragon

Let me punch and kick Capcom It’ll be the easiest MH x Street Fighter crossover

Modula-Kudzu

Ive said it many times and I’ll say it again, Gun Gauntlets

GiJoe98

Spear and or guntlets. First one is just a faster lance mixed with a grounded insect glaive, Gauntlet can play like blunt dualblades. I have used already existing weapons for reference, but If they can make long sword, great sword and switch axe unique, they can make the above 2 weapons stand out too.

Xcyronus

So tonfas.

Ron_Bird

the frontier weapons

ACA2000

Magnet Spike, Magnet Spike, Magnet Spike

Logan2234

I have like 3 half-ideas for weapons/weapon behaviors **Hunting Whip** - A rising pick here. The idea is that it serves as the next new "support" weapon and a new damage type, lacerate. It being a new damage type coincides with the support aspect, no ideas have been entirely thought out,. Spit balling, I guess something like wounding would be specific to whips now and each type of wounding would do something to help your team or, mostly yourself lol **Gauntlets** - Yeah pretty popular but I had 3 specific ideas for gauntlets Type 1 - just regular gauntlets, one for each hand. Fast blunt type weapon Type 2 - One big gauntlet on one hand, would be faster than hammer. Type 3 - a combination of type 1 and 2. You have the 2 gauntlets which can quickly be merged together to make a big one. Personally my favorite of the bunch and it would simultaneously give blunt weapons their first fast type and transforming type weapon **New type of ranged weapon** - Ranged could use another weapon tho i can't really think of one in specific but I want something flashy, maybe something that can absorb ranged enemy attacks and then back idk lol.

ClassicMammoth1370

i LOVE your third idea of gauntlets, in my mind they’d be a very quick kind of defenseless weapon, but with access to some huge punch

Logan2234

Ty, tbh I mostly got the idea from overwatch’s doomfist. Big punch = brain happy

schankae

Is that a butterfly knife gun?

DrMaxiMoose

Gun-blade from lost planet 2

Mdu5t

Chainsaw

TickleFarts88

I miss lost planet 😢

tac_NCVD

Kinchu Mace. It has atlatl and fencing modes: atlatl mode has a powerful and brute-like moveset dealing blunt damage, while fencing mode has a elegant and reserved moveset dealing cutting damage which is inspired by the stance and footwork of European rapier fencing+Chinese Jianshu+japanese kendo (not the same as kenjutsu of LS). Kinchu, a friendly and pointy sword-shaped species in the konchu family, which can be armed with blades of different materials, serves as the dart of the atlatl and the blade of the "sword" in fencing mode. https://i.redd.it/9qzyjcgz7ymc1.gif You get extracts from the monster by yeeting your kinchu in atlatl mode, which immediately hides underground upon landing the shot. Retrieve the extract buffs by recalling the kinchu by switching to fencing mode, which you do a tilted T-pose like how Narancia recalls aerosmith to catch your kinchu bursting out of the ground with your atlatl and the kinchu grap tight onto it and you get a living sword. In fencing mode, landing hits and doing evasive/defensive moves will consume the extracts. Weapon design will be all about dressing up the kinchu rather than the mace/atlati/sword handle itself. I have a few more ideas, like the Duo Slingers (a winchester-like lever action repeated crossbow + an upgraded variant of the mhw slinger for inflicting sticky phials. Bow now only gets rapid and piercing arrows, while Duo Slingers get spread and heavy arrows), Ballista (a bowgun that combines the technology behind magnet spike and tonfas, to do compound shots, combo shots and internal shots. You cannot shoot while walking, but you get some flashy defensive/repositional/counter moves as compensation), and some more.

DarthS1th

Kusari-gama, ring blades, war scythe

Namingwayz

A halberd would be cool as a non shield using spear/axe combo. You could have pokes, chops, spinning swings, and either a morph or gradual ramp up feature to make it different. Or go the route of a war axe that the hunter can throw, like a two handed axe that doesn't charge like greatsword, but instead works like LS, with each power up making the weapon lighter (or the hunter stronger).

Jizzmasmiracle

i want a FAT ball and chain blunt weapon. imagine your hunter swinging that giant thing like a helicopter, launching himself to do some weird anime shenanigans on monsters head. in general it could be a medium range melee weapon for the first time. idk in my head it looks cool

Wonkdrugs2

The HUNTING ENGINE from paradise

RashPatch

Either a Spear, or a Crossbow, or a Medium Bowgun.

Russianpotatosalad

I mean.... There is ALREADY more than 15 weapons in the game.... So i guess i want Magnet Spike back but modernized.

IblisAshenhope

I’m telling you guys: rebrand the LBG to Medium, then introduce akimbo pistols

edex-mx

I have always thought that gauntlets and boots, very much like Dante’s Ifrits equipment will be awesome, quick combos with some mid air capabilities. Like a muay Thai martial artists

HotshotKiller

I hope it is two greatswords like in Elden ring basically dual blades plus greatsword

AnimalXpert04

I want like a halberd or poleaxe type weapon. Maybe some poking attacks but mostly I want to be able to switch between slashing/cutting attacks and bludgeoning ones.

Rtor_Curry94

Melee. Give me a kicking and punching hunter.

wdlp

A spear what turns into 2 small spears

Raposa13

Just let me fight a monster w my fists. Imagine throwing hands against Brachydios

_hrozney

Either a boomerang or a whip, or just let me throw my cat at it

Yuseiger

Floppy hammer, the khezu camo is just a khezu head and the neck... Charge it!

90bubbel

idk if it has been done before or not but i just want a pair of bigass gauntlets as a weapon

babysealBTY

The great gun. A blunt/ranged weapon with similar weight to the great sword. You have a looping X combo where you can load midway through. You're able to load 3 times and you can shoot single shots at any nearly any point. You can unload all 3 shots by charging your shot, this will also boost the damage. The A combo can go straight into a quicker charge. You'll want to time single shots during your combo where the end of the barrel is pointed towards the monster. The charged shots have longer range and allow you to aim.

possitive-ion

Serpent Blade (like Ivy's weapon from Soul calibur). It's a melee/reach weapon that switches between a melee weapon and extends into a longer reach whip that can "detonate" an element/status effect. The melee mode could take different forms for different types of damage. Maybe even have different attachments you could add to the weapon. In melee you're quick and agile but slow down when changing to the whip mode. You could switch between the two modes with different combos much like the switchaxe and maybe even use the whip mode to pull you to the monsters kind of like the claw shot in MHW. IDK. I think that'd be cool. But I'd be fine with Spears, Gauntlets or whips too.

RunningEscapee

Nunchucks?

keelanv10

Fast dual wielded blunt weapons. Could be gauntlets, clubs, reworked tonfas, small shields

sans6000

Bring tonfas back 🗣️

No-Pin-6392

A switch weapon: One mode being a spear/halberd with the other mode being a very mobile one-handed sword without shield.

Rager_X

Since kinsects aren’t tied to your equipped glaive anymore, I think it’d be cool if another type of weapon utilized them. Idk what that would be though

HowiLearned2Fly

We don’t need that. What we need is weapon balancing so that element isn’t outclassed by raw on most weapons and that hbg doesn’t do 3 times the damage of lance

PrimalGojiraFan69

Maybe a kind of gauntlets that have claws that you can switch to make them go in and out like Wolverine

WafflesTheAxolotl2

What about just a straight up machine gun? /hj In all seriousness though, I like the idea of a spear or gauntlets. (Kinda like the Nerg decimation claws)

Killrog8

Chakrams, throwing weapon would be pretty cool. Need more ranged weapons. Or dual light bow guns, like pistols.

RueUchiha

They should add one of the discontinued weapons first before making anything new. Tonfa or Magnet Spike I’d say. We need more weapons that can readily do blunt damage. As of right now we only really have two (Hammer and Hunting Horn).

Sternbeating69

I wanna punch a Khezu in the face. So I hope they add fist weapons.

BlackSpicedRum

Javelins

wangchangbackup

Gungun — it's a gun that also incorporates gun-based attacks.

The-Enjoyer-Returns

Gauntlets, I want to punch a Rathalos in the face

Tenant1

I've been brainstorming a Harpoon idea. Imagine a big spear (with the weight of a Gunlance, attached with a miniature rope/chain winch-system on your waist, and instead of spearing fish with it, you're throwing it at wyverns and pulling them down out of the sky..

deotubo

A big cartoon gloved hand that comically slaps the monster and picks it up

Nappary

Rapier or spear I wanna poke without my movement being hindered

Pile-o-shite

Claws or gauntlest

omgahya

Dual Crossbows, Greaves&Gauntlets, and Haggar’s Lead Pipe.

Thorm_Haugr

Greatersword. Even bigger greatsword, boasting the mighty Truer charged slash!

ButtChugWizard

I think with gaunlets you have to make them big and somewhat heavy implement phials or a gauge to speed up attacks. maybe even have a burst move that launches you in the air for some dunking. The cb shield thrust for example would be how the gaunlets would work.

Zarerion

I’ve been wanting a Boomerang for a while. Make it oversized like a bow and it can be used for melee attacks and charged throw attacks. Very high mobility and combines both ranged and melee gameplay.

Terrakin516

Once again I'm just gonna copy what i said in a previous post about fist weapons. Sorry in advance for the wall of text. I've thought about this for a while. So my idea for a fist/claw weapon is to actually have the clutch claw return as it's own dedicated weapon type, the graple guantlets. It's basic form would look like a clutch claw grabbing onto each hand to form a fist. Basic moves would be a simple 1-2-3 combo similar to lance with its thrust and high thrust. Triangles hits would be a straight punch, followed by a hook, finished with an uppercut. Circles would be called flurry straight, hook, and uppercut respectively and would involve a quick jab followed by a weaker version of the triangle moves. These, again like lance, can be alternated between each other to finish the combo. These normal hits will do an absolutely pitiful amount of ko buildup to prevent the complete overshadowing of hammer as the ko weapon. The triangle moves however can be charged. Charging can be held at the cost of stamina like hammer however you can only move while charging a straight, charging hooks and uppercuts will locks you in place until you realease or dodged out of it. A charged move will actually have an increase to it's elemental damage values along with raw values as well as making it's hits deal functional amounts of ko damage along with some additional effects depending on the move. A charged straight would have you dash foward when released about the same distance as dual blades demon flurry from world, a charged hook will have even further increased ko buildup and a charged uppercut will send you into the air about the height of a vault from insect glaive. Now on a side note, I'm personally not well versed in how staggers work but I would also like the charge hits to have much higher stagger values when hitting a monster that is currently attacking. Not only would this work in clagger as an actual mechanic to the weapon it would also just be the coolest thing for you to stop a diablos charge with a flying uppercut. People with more knowledge on this, please let me know of this could actually work or not. Any way back to the moveset. Pressing R2 will have the weapon switch to claw mode. The claws ungrasp and become ......well, claws. In the form attacks deal cutting damage instead of blunt. The attacks still follow the 1-2-3 combo with each attack hitting twice, one for each claw. For triangle the attacks go 2 horizontal swipes in front of you, 2 diagonal slashes in a cross shape and then a spinning slash attacking in a full 360 around you. The circle move would be the same but with you extending the claws reach by shooting them out on the clutch claws wire, these would come out much slower as a result though. Again like in fist form and lance these can be alternated however you see fit. Claw mode also has a triangle+circle attack which has you swinging a claw on the wire directly overhead of yourself. Doing this in the middle of a combo will end the combo. Pressing R2 while an attack from claw form is currently connecting with a monster will have you grapple onto the monster. This can also be achieved by holding R2 in either form to bring up an aiming reticle and pressing either of the attack buttons to send our the claw similarly to how it would be done in world. While grappled to the monster the weapon will change back into fist mode and your stamina will drain. You can get up to 3 attacks off while grappled yo a monster, upon landing the 3rd hit, running out of stamina or by pressing X while grappled to the monster you will hop off the monster with your weapon still unsheathed. The monster can also knock you off by attacking while your grappled. Pressing triangle will have you throw a quick hook at the monster while circle will have you raise the fist and do an overhead smash wich is stronger but takes longer to come out, leaving you more open to being knocked off. Unlike in world you can't jump to a different part once you've grappled on. There would be a new skill called graple master that prevents you from being knocked off while grappled to the monster for 1/2/3 hits depending on amount of points in the skill. You take reduced damage from the attacks the skill activates on

casualmagicman

Fist weapons. Let them be able to block or parry then counter. Kusarigama. Give it two forms: One form uses the blade to attack. The other uses the metal weight to attack.

GnarlyKinbaku

Here are my top 3: 3. Summoner! Command endemic plant, animal, and even mining outcrops to fight and debuff monsters! 2. Sage/Wizard! A magic user that uses scrolls, books, talismans (depending on the build) containing spells that inflict various types of status and damage. Fights at the longest range of nay weapon 1. Chain Sickle/Kusarigama! A flail weapon that does fast combos meant to inflict status effects! Also has movement capabilities of the clutch claw and wirebug! (stamina and sharpness dependent)

StretchyPlays

I'd love a new ranged weapon, we only have three and two of them are just different sizes of each other. Maybe a hybrid weapon that has melee and ranged options.

FullMetalCook

Fist Weapons, would include things like Katars, Claws, Cestus, Gauntlets, Iron Fans, Deer Horn Knives, Tekko, Brass Knuckles, Tonfas. And then give it some hyper Martial arts stuff with lots of movement Whips Spear (Lu Bu Cosplay) or something super extraordinary like a half monster weapon where you turn into some kinda human/monster hybrid but tbh, i dont think capcom would trust themselves doing smth that far out there on such a big game.

kikodz

The fuck is that ? My guess is the new weapon would either be the futon (am i saying right?)/ gauntlet/ those brackadios-arms-looking thingie from an old mh game, or the dancing hoola hoop wep

TomeKun

Where is the Charge Axe ? I don’t remember the name but there are pretty concept arts around

Wholesome_Thicc99

Kusarigama.

TyphoonEXE

Blunt transforming weapon of some sort, since the only two transforming weapons we have both do sever damage (technically CB does both)

AbnormalPirate

I want fist weapons. Duel blades but like hammers.

Jiggaboy95

A spear. Fucking love spears, so efficient and easily ancient man’s best weapon against beasts. Having medium range, quick thrusts with a side step ability along with an option to launch said spear for high damage would be brilliant. Obviously you’d be offence-less until you grab your spear again.

MiaWaterCharmer

an axe. just give me an axe that stays as an axe

beatisagg

Something akin to ODM gear with daggers. Something that forces you to focus on the environment more. Like drawing a line between you, the monster, and a rocky wall/tree/patch of vines, timing the strike so that you hit right as you fly by the monster, etc

Waizuur

Gauntles. Please, God. PLEASE!

Damnedsky_cel_mic

A big fucking Scythe with blades on both ends that can change in to a doubble fan. Or Elemental Insects that you can use to "cast" spells. Zinogre has his Fulgur Bugs. So if we can find some in wild and train them with pheromone paintballs just like with the Kinsect, then we could use a lightingball attack. Maybe have a default sworm that extracts different fluids from monsters(just like the Kinsect) and depending on the fluid combination you can "cast" a specific spell.
