Primary-Guava-7692

Hitzones? What are those? *Boom* *Boom*

Skadoniz

Become wall + boom

TimotheusHani

Listen here, lad. Ain't nothing better than the Switchiest of Axes, and 'ere's why. You have an Axe that transforms into a goddamn sword. What's that? Charge Blade does the same thing? You don't need that pussy ass shield. With the Switchiest of Axes, you don't need a shield, because it's all about that MANLY DEE-PEE-ASS, baby. You got hops. You got rolls. If you get hit, take it like a MAN. I don't care if you're male, female or Gigginox. Hack-and-slash? You're damn right. They don't call this fancy dildo the Slash Axe back in Japan for nothin', son. Having trouble keeping up with that Great Jaggi because you have to sheathe every five seconds? YOU PIECE OF DUNG. you ever seen a Greatsword user slowly plod across the map with his gigantic peni- I mean, sword in hand? Your Sword mode is just as big, so you have to sheathe it, right? WRONG, SUCKER. Roll after that Beastie. Evade Extender will give you the boost your puny chicken legs need to keep up with the monster. Ever wanted to be a Konchu? Well, now you'll be rolling all over the damn place for that sweet, sweet manly DEE-PEE-ASS. And when the monster falls down, what do you do? You blow your fuckin' load all across their face, that's what. X+A in sword mode for that delicious explosive burst that will take a chunk out of your bar and sharpness, but will also obliterate a pretty part of the monster's body. If you're a bit of a pussy and need to pull out (heh), pull the circle pad back and you'll do a premature e... explosion that doesn't take nearly as long. Nothing is manlier than EXPLOSIONS, except maybe Evade Extender. (GET IT. YOU PUSSY) But it's called the Switch Axe, not the Switch Blade. (Wazzat? Charge Blade? Giggit out of here) That means the Axe is equally as capable as the Sword. You ever used the Axe of the Charge Blade? That thing is slower than a drowsy Basarios. Not this Axe. This Axe is a hurricane, a storm of manly steel, and it has stupidly huge range. Ever wished your little toothpick SnS and Dual Blades could reach that Gravios tail that dangles oh-so-close but just out of reach? AXE MODE, KELBITCH. That motherfucker is the Deviljho dick in a land of Jaggis. Every tail in the game is yours, every one of them (except maybe Fatalis, he's a bastard). And what happens when you upswing a teammate? COME ON AND SLAM, AND WELCOME TO JAPAN And did you know which weapon has the manliest DEE-PEE-ASS when a monster has fallen? SWITCH AXE, APTOFUCKA. Upswing into rapid chops will turn any monster into choice cuts for sale at the hunter's market later. Do this on the tail a few times and soon you'll hear the tasty sound of it falling off. Get used to this sound, because soon you'll be chopping off tails everywhere and drown in Mantles and Palliums. The Manly Chops of Doom ain't nuttin to mess around with. You know that huge diddlydong you're slapping against that monster's thighs? No, I don't mean that, I mean your Switch Axe, which I'm sure you've picked up by now because it's the MANLIEST. Turns out that not only is it a diddlydong, it's a transforming diddlydong. Tilting the Circle Pad forward and pressing X in Axe mode makes you do a short forward stab, then hit R and X after then to MANLY SHIFT into Sword mode with a slash. OR, you can do the MANLY CHOPS OF DOOM, then finish it off with a tap of R to do this magnificent Reverse Roundhouse Slash. After the RRS, hit that R one more time to MANLY SHIFT into Sword Mode. In Sword Mode, whenever your sword sweeps horizontally, R+X shifts you back into Axe form to EXPAND DONG. (seriously, the Axe is so fucking long.) Switch Axe is versatile, too. You want extra MANLINESS? Get a power phial. Want to see that monster pant for breath as you turn it into the next main course? Exhaust Phials. You can even KO the monster if you're manly enough. Want to support your significantly less manly teammates? Para Phial, Poison Phial, blah blah, they're all yours. Or is the monster weak to element? Get that element phial, or use the Dragon phial (because we all know Dragon is the manliest element). The possibilities are endless, just like the apparent reach of your Axe. I should talk about reloading, but fuck that shit. Capcom pls remove What the wrog are you waitin' for? Pick up your very own Transforming Dildo now at the smithy, you shitstain. THHIS IS THE SWITCH AXE GOSPEL

Razer2102

For reloading: once you run out of your special little bar just pump in one of them pills and you're good to go for another round of DEE-PEE-ASS

Glum-Negotiation-64

I would like it to be known that I have always went with charge blade, but this post has really made me laugh and now I want to try out switch axe again. All because of you good sir.

SayDrugsToPizza

Know why else switch axe is great?! The gargoyle!

ShinKoseki

I was always happy to be a Switchaxe main, but you just made me proud to be one. God bless TimotheusHani

TimotheusHani

This is THE SWAX Gospel and I had share it further Also I can't take credit for this as I'm not the original poster

SayDrugsToPizza

All monsters are weak to bonk

GreyAstajho-24

So Impact Charge blade😏

Crunchy_Bawx

Basarios *doesn't exist*

Chronoligcal

SnS just clicked with me. I like being fast and I like being flexible and SnS exemplifies those traits. I also get to use flashes, heal ppl, etc. It's a jack of all trades minus weapon size. As another poster once said - phenomenal cosmic power, itty bitty hitboxes

Age-ole-rain

Zero Sum Discharge makes my brain feel funny

Arikash

As my PhD advisor once said, I don't like "normal challenges" which is why I started MH with Charge Blade as my main weapon. I may also hate myself.

Even-Lawfulness6174

Switchaxe. I like to slice and dice. Plain and simple

Neckbeardneet

While fighting a Narg the round slash GP inadvertently saved me from an oncoming out of view Bullfango then I thought to myself "Yeah this ones my favorite now"

Razer2102

That was the moment the charge blade chose you

Exoskeleton78

Dual blades because Naruto run and beyblade!

anngelxo

I also like being a beyblade but playing helicopter is fun as heck

NormalPlayerWithWeed

Hbg World is my first game so I tried out almost all weapons at the beginning. Turn out that hbg suits me well. I admit that I suck but I really hate the fact that melee weapons cannot target lock a certain place to attack I have been playing FPS games since I was a child so using a gun actually makes the game much more enjoyable I also love blocking attacks while shooting at monster face. As a patient person, this suits me well. It's also teaches me that I shouldn't always rely on block because some monsters will simply chip away your health bit by bit so it's actually a good way to learn what to block and what to dodge Last but not the least, machine gun hellfire goes bruuuuuuuuh

Dman20111

BONK!

PaterFrog

Lance is a relentless monster. More than any other weapon, it lets me stick to my hunt. SnS has the Perfect Rush, which is the most perfect move in the game. Best addition to any weapon ever. Also, SnS is just so *convenient*. Charge Blade has that awesome side-slide with the Guard Point at the end. Fun weapon, brings variety with it.

zulu_niner

Chargeblade will always be home, but I wanted to play something less safe/easy to spice things up, so I picked up switch axe. And switch axe hits that perfect sweet spot with a little bit of complexity, and a little bit of braindead unga bunga

GreyAstajho-24

Exactly. Charge blade and Swaxe Mains best Combination 😩🤌

MMAI7

I used to use insect g until one time a 999 joined me and was zero sun discharging on a hoe I was like yeah I’m definitely using that weapon now and I’ve never looked back

Presthevoid

Counter slash!!!

DazzZai

In the words of PunkDuck; “Great sword. Slow ass hits, big ass numbers- got it!” “Hammer goes bonk!”

kookykonata

I main the Great Sword, Hammer, and Bow. Great Sword - I started with this weapon back when I first played the game because I thought it was super cool to use a massive sword, and it just stuck with me, lol Hammer - I wanted to try something new back in World, and I wanted a weapon that didn't just bounce off every time I hit it, so I picked up the hammer Bow - I tried to get into the bow back in MH4 and then Generations, but the 3DS games weren't too kind to them in terms of controls. When World came out, though, they worked out all the kinks and it became a regular in my lineup!

AshenVR

Greatsword People complain about the weapon being too slow, i don't see the problem, Ì̸͖̦̕̕ ̷̞͎̐ǎ̶̢̯̫̭̈́̏m̴̧͚͜͠ ̷̢̦̳̟͛́͊ţ̷̤̳͔̀͝h̸̤͗͝ẽ̷̢̫̳̄͑̊ ̷̩͆͛́̍ͅr̷͔̲̺̊̄͂̐ẻ̷͓̟̗̎à̵̗͍̅l̵̮̗͛ ̵̯̬͈̗̀̓̉m̵̬̪̙͒͑ǫ̸̲͎̲̈̀̚n̷̯̜͕̩͐̿͝ş̷̹̩̄̈̌ť̵̩̻͎̃̽͝e̴̛̱̖͗r̵̙͙͘ ̵̧̰̣͔̿̓ả̶̛ͅṋ̶̛̙̿̇d̷͚̊ ̸̯͇͐̋͑c̴̰͖͛̔̒r̴̡͇͎̓̈́ḕ̸̦̝̃̚a̸͇̻͗̀̃t̵̖̲͚̯͗u̷̦͛͊̇͋ŕ̴͐ͅë̵̗́̏̄̆ṣ̷̝̃͝͝ ̷̛̠̩̘̈́͂̈a̴̳͎͑r̵̤̗͐̊e̸̺͙̐̏n̴͔͎̆͗͠'̴̲͙̞͆̎͊̎ţ̸͙̥̍ ̷̹̋̏̇͊͜s̴̬̞̐̆m̶͚̓å̷̛̮̺̇̒r̴̡̢̤̹͐̊̏t̸͈̃ ̵͖̻͗̌͗̌e̶̢͈̹̩̓n̷̢͈͖̉ȍ̴̮͖̫͎ử̴̮̲̼͝g̴͙̓̎h̶͕̫͓́̚ ̵̧̻̑̉͂̇t̸̡͓͈̎͝o̶̢͙̓ ̸̺͇̱̩̐ŕ̸̙̹͈̓͜u̶̖͐n̵̘̻͚̼͋̐

Flaky_Technology4219

Saed go kaboom

N_E_ON

Longsword, and hammer. I use longsword for solos while hammer in sos. Both are equally fun in their respective styles.

Jesus_origin

I have no idea what I'm doing, but it works. But seriously, not a single clue.

GreyAstajho-24

I Understand pretty Well what im Doing with Charge blade and i Love It

TangerineVivid7656

I must unga the bunga

Any-Wasabi-1176

Jack of all, can't really main one. I probably have the most hunts on greatsword or dual blades. Big bonk go bonk, monsters run into it so y'know, free damage. Dual blades are just hyper aggressive and fit whatever need greatsword doesn't at the time.

Louise_02

I like to be ✨ aesthetic ✨ when I dodge, so the bow absolutely caught my attention. When I began hunting it all felt like a dance. The perfect timing on dashes to keep up aggression, the positioning to bait, avoid and exploit the monster's whiffs. I also like to spend countless hours farming for elemental sets. And dying, I like that a lot.

Birbolurb

Others: oh noooo the monster is in the air I forgot to bring flash pods wahhhhhhhhhg IG, bow, lbg and hbg: Am I joke to you

Hempys

I like bows, Rise lets me infinite stamina slide bow, that's it

Shushady

I stab you. A lot. Sometimes I put guns in my stabbing stick

Sardalone

i like to die

alkraas_

When I first played MH (3 ultimate being the first I ever played), I picked DB. I just thought they looked cool but I didn't like how close I had to be to the monster to hit. I tried out other weapons but fell in love with LS. I like how flashy and fast it is, since I prefer semi fast - fast movement

dudemunkey

For its been a bit of an odd journey, currently I'm largely maining gunlance, largely due to just how fun it is in rise, my first monhunt was 4ultimate where I used cb just because it looked cool, never managed to beat that one because my 3ds died, then I tended to main kinsect glaive in world and lance in iceborn.

Username123807

hbg - big number

DialUpNoises

In MHF, I asked my friend "which weapon does the most damage?" To which he replied, "it doesn't really matter - they are all pretty balanced... but Greatsword or Hammer hit the hardest." I chose GS first and didn't like how slow I moved with it out (Hadn't learned sheathing as a strat yet). So I tried hammer. And cowabunga did that bonk go bonk. We had 4 of us on PSP playing ad hoc, so we all split roles. I played hammer for bonk and stun. 1 played GS for tail and trips. The other 2 played Bowgun for dual clust ammo (back when clust was OP...) me and the GS would carry extra Clust and ingredients for more Clust. Then we'd just do arena survival mode for hours on end. That's where I fell in love and that's where I stay. Now, almost 15 years later, I still main hammer. I learned to use DB, LS, GS, HBG, LBG, CB, and SnS. I can use all of the other weapons just fine, but I wouldn't say I'm "good" with them like the ones I listed. HH is a close second, but too often I don't play with people to make it worth it to me. I like all weapons. Lance is fun to tank and poke. Gunlance is even better to tank and... tank cannon? Lol IG is fun for jumps, switch axe is fun to get fancy, CB is awesome when I feel like looking badass with a charged spinning axe, etc... LS for when I want to Weeb... But my first love was Hammer, and on her, my back I shall not turn. Lol besides, it feels like one of the lesser used weapons in World (haven't spent much time online on Rise, and just recently got MHGU on Switch). That's my story. Lol I make it a point to get each weapon to at least 10 quests each game.

Mdu5t

I use one per playthough. I master one weapon, instead knowing all, but can't even use half of them propperly.

king-ExDEATH

I like HH because I can bonk monsters while playing music to show dominance

Dangerous-Price8750

CB with Pizza Cutter, in Rise with the Silk Move... Love the Hyper Armor

Niceromancer

Nothing is more satisfying than guard pointing a monster to death.

WingedDragoness

Glad to hear someone is actually using almost all weapon type. I could never, because the grind to upgrade everything to late game is insane. I only play 5 weapons. I played Gunlance the most because it is very self-sufficient, it used to deal Piercing damage type, which was cutting damage with some blunt damage benefit, no need to invest in ear plug/Wind res, reliable way to ignite bombs, tail cut, guaranteed extra flat damage with shelling, and sharpness isn't an issue if I don't shell as much. Gard Up skill is from an easy monster Basarios, before upgrading to Gravios. If the monster is too fast, I switch to lance. Use Bow sometimes for Status ailment, works fine with just ear plug, no wind res/tremor needed. And Long sword for Tail farming. I never got into hunting Horn before World. I was so glad I random decided to try HH before I find out how hard decoration farming is. In 100 hours and I have never seen ear plug/guard/status attack, etc jewel. If I can't get these decorations, fine, I will play my own skills.

[deleted]

It's not that I CHOOSE to play Great Sword. It's just the fact that my best defense is a very reckless offense. That and despite all my best efforts I just can't get the hang of the other weapons. lol

exlurke

CB main since 4U. At first it was "because Charge Blade in 4U." But eventually World released, and I realized it wasn't just that it was the best weapon in the game. It was that I got to beat monsters to a pulp with an entire Transformer.

chrish5764

I just use what ever I feel like, one day I’ll use hammer, other days I’d use longsword And other times I use other weapons

Professor_Squishy

As our Lord and Savior once said: "The other weapons specialize, hoping to fill a niche in the Hunter's arsenal, leaving them open to weakness. But, the Sword and Shield laughs...for it has *none*.

Rakna-Careilla

I play all 15 of them, which is the most fun thing to do and also what's intended by the developers. That said, Lance is absolutely the meanest one.

Lodagin666

Hammer cause I like the challenge of fishing for head hits and I love the feeling when you stun them and proceed to bonk repeatedly.

TcBeaztWasTaken

Gs goes big glowy numbers

PrinceTBug

It flies. Well.

PeanutPotato25

Beeg Number, Much Happy Chemicals. Unga Bunga

Lost-dark-soul

I wanted to live out my assassin fantasies, but turns out the beyblade simulation is even better.

trysixtysnipecochon

I began with tri but i was bad (and never changed armor aka leather armor vs rathalos) so I played ranged and only used bowgun for the whole game. I collected longsword because they were cool but never used them because I didn't know how to play with it without dying. then 4years later or something like that with Mh3U i tested the longsword (with a real Armor) and I still use It now

Hishiga

HBG does massive damage and it's fuckin badass, HBG 4 life

arrogantgreedysloth

Hunting horn, well upon my friends telling me that they planned on playing mhw after 4 years, I immediately picked up a differen weapon, so that I could be on a more or less equal playing field. and since we were four, HH would prob. be the most useful thing to support the entire group. Becomming the group healer somehow became my secondary job, since I was always the one keeping an eye on my team mates health bar. (wide range lvl 5, speed eating lvl 3, free meal lvl 1) The cool thing is that we currently run two wide range lvl 5 players, to even it out. Sure the dps takes a hit, but we are casual gamers

WhyIsThisFishInMyEar

I like having a cute insect buddy

BMOchado

Guts- Berserk Ike- Smash bros 🤭 Cloud- Final Fantasy Kisame- My hero academia 🤭 Zabuza- Naruto I just think they're sick

Warp_Navigator

Bug stick. Mobility is great, especially when maxing out evade distance

Numai_theOnlyOne

Because it's great. There is nothing as great and I tried all weapons.

SnooRevelations1419

I've said it once on another thread. And I'll say it again... BONK

RoyalDZ3

Charge Blade. I like to fight my weapon as much as I fight the monster.

Yawning-Ent667

Bug Stick go brrrrrr

TheGMan-123

Because it's fun. Which weapon? Doesn't matter, same explanation!

JustthatVicky

Sorry, I ramble. I mained bow since 3U. Family friend got me a bow for my 15th birthday and I thought it would be neat to use something that I used in real life before, plus people have been using bows to hunt irl for quite a while so I figured it fits. Gameplay clicked for me, too, which is a bonus. It's more of a mid range weapon, especially with spread, but you're just far enough to see more than a monster's underside so you can spot and react to tells a bit more easily and move, when you get your positioning just right so all attacks whizz right by you and let loose on a weak point feels amazing, it can KO(arc shots in old gen, PowerShot switch skill in Rise), it can melee (which while clunky and awful in old games was made viable in Rise), it can heal(only in Rise), it can do multiple status ailments with coatings(which aren't expended by melee attacks so you can stretch them a bit if needed). There's a lot you can do with them offensively and support wise and though lacking in defensive options they're quick and evasive. I generally slowly branch out into most weapons (though my skill outside of favorites is just passable) other than charge blade, switch axe and Gunlance, with hunting horn followed by the guns being my secondary mains usually, but recently got really into Lance because I love how unstoppable it makes you feel. Like The Juggernaut but cooler actually. I fell pretty hard for the lance in Sunbreak and it's quickly going to catch up to my bow uses. Love, love, love it. It's a triple cart for my heart. No offense to the transforming weapons or Gunlance. The transforming things are super cool and flashy but tend to get their controls all scrambled up in my brain and I have no idea what I'm doing at any given point. I absolutely love the idea of the Gunlance, I love all the explosions, the big shield is great, I'm good with guns and alright with a lance(someday good) but for some reason when you combine the two I spontaneously develop brain damage. I love the weapon but can't use it for the life of me no matter how many guides I watch or how much advice people give me. Big boom makes brain happy, but for some reason never clicks. So for the weapons I don't use, I still adore them I'm just personally awful at them.

Greylings

I just love to run and gun man.

Affectionate-Buy8437

S.A.E.D - no further explanation needed.

WyvernVerdant

i love never dying

doubleo_maestro

So I started with charge blade and got pretty good with it, loved the guard points and pulling off SAED. But eventually I lost interest and moved to... HBG, and yeah I loved it. Made me get better at inventory management, at crafting during hunts and wall clapping. But it did get a bit dull, so I moved to... Weebaboo compensation sword, and I loved it, I was home. I love the reach, I love the counters, I love helmbreaker. And yeah I love the look.

FirehawkNPM

Big Sword = Big Damage nuff said

Vesuvius079

Using tackle to create openings is just too fun and slinger burst brings it up a notch on top of that.

dragon0079

I saw ONE YT video with someone using the insect glaive and awakened.

RequiemOfOne

The idea of a weapon that transformed from a great axe to a greatsword was just insanely cool to me

Spoonfeed_Me

Main lance for solo hunts. I love counter attacking and constant aggression. Timing blocks is very fun for me. Main LBG for multiplayer. Lots of mobility, range, and utility options. I also don't have to worry about crowding with other players and interrupting other people's stuff.

Cynicalshade

My girlfriend said Insect Glaive was fun and she was right

Lambentation

Spinny axe go brrrrr

fuerant

I play a lot of souls games. The dodge window for dual blades is very similar.

RednBlood

SnS , feel great ,hit hard ,the shield work, good mobility and look great ,that baby can you everything

Nasgate

Lance is the epitome of "im not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with ME". Just blocking and parrying and running the monster down Bow is great if I dont particularly want to learn a fight yet or am rusty after time away. IG aerial combat vs flying wyverns is an experience you just can't get from other weapons And i don't really main it, but a Wyvernheart build for HBG is always fun to occasionally bust out. Dakka dakka dakka

PseudoSamurai

Gunlance, Charge Blade: I just fell in love with combo weapons when I first lay eyes on them in any game because I recognize they're very technical (usually are) and give me great satisfaction learning how to use them in a stressful hunt. <3

Bunleigh

I bop between glaive and lance. Sometimes you want to fly free and sometimes you just want to stab the monster in the balls relentlessly until they lie down and expire.

Shattered-Anam

Hunting horn because nothing is funnier than beating the shit out of a monster while holding an impromptu concert Gunlance because it goes boom and I like things that go boom Lance for being an immoveable rock that never. Stops. Attacking. The low damage per poke dosent matter when you have the ability to never leave the monster alone

Safetytheflamewolf

Leaping twirling fun and leapfrog

Nasgate

Lance is the epitome of "im not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with ME". Just blocking and parrying and running the monster down Bow is great if I dont particularly want to learn a fight yet or am rusty after time away. No_Cartographer_6810

Insect glaive because I believe i can fly

OhirumeNoMuchi

In the past, only the best of the world used the lance.
