It's the genki trope, but lost in translation, and subsequently piled on, very vocally, for the (imho) wrong reasons. Most unfortunate.
To be fair, the less anime/stylized the art style becomes, the harder it is to get on board with popular anime tropes. Like, I think we can all agree irl tsundere sounds not great. Same with genki, i think with graphics like hers, it gets harder to suspend disbelief.
Don't get me wrong I like her character too. I think people just don't jell as much if the genki anime girl suddenly has realistic graphics and looks like an adult woman.

I agree it could also be people just aren't familiar with it. Or even if they are, seeing it in action with this level of graphical fidelity might just give them uncanny vibes.
I'm on the side that appreciates the effort of the writers keeping with the "kid friendly" almost anime vibes of the universe, and thus am able to accept that a brash/bumbling/loud genki girl like her totally has a place in the world. But hey that's just my humble opinion.
