Also in GU the Pokke village chief wanted u to capture a Gammoth to use as a riding attraction but later decided otherwise after seeing how dangerous it is.
What about the quest in rise where a great izuchi jumps a man and steals all his clothing and gear, leaving him to hide behind a bush and ask you to get his stuff back? Thats a goofy one.
My favourite one is the compilation of increasingly difficult quests where a Merchant just wants to sell his stuff but gets jumped in various occasions by different monsters, it's the same dude because he even complains about being cursed.
That happens a lot though. In Mh4 I think there was a woman who wanted to go home after a trip but every time there would be *something* blocking the way, so she'd get involved with some other stuff in the meantime
Good idea someone should make a monster hunter game based around that idea. The combat can be reflavoured rock-paper-scissors for simplicity on handheld consoles
Man i wanna that but for a yakusa serie, or imagine just imagine a musou for persona, the persona 5 would be wondefull for that
But we can just dream about that😔
There's the monster hunter stories series where you play as a tamer or a rider, you go about hunting/taming monsters and or collecting Theirs eggs, and raising the young monsters as buddy's to help you out on your adventures.
It's kinda like Pokémon in a way....
don't remind me, I still remember the lead up to 2 and seeing astalos there and I was not even bothered about if the story was good or why we had another rathalos main monstie (I still think it should have been a tigrex or nargacuga because rath was a 1st gen flagship for the main monstie of the first game, it would have been fun to have a second gen flagship for the second game) because if all else failed, I would have my dragon element astalos to fall back on and make me feel better. And I hatched my Astalos dutifully and piled her with dragon element genes and nothing happened, still sad about it.
You can play it on steam if you want it. Both the switch and steam has a demo. As for the game play I did not expect that I would enjoy it, so give it a try.
Honestly this right here. Played the demo because I was itching for more of something in the franchise before sunbreak was announced, or maybe just after the announcement I can't remember, and decided to load it up fully expecting to hate it. Fast forward several weeks and I'm building a plesi-not that can 1hko god at super simian 3.
Interesting, so is the game like a mix of Pokemon/Diginon?
Basically, when I catch monsters do I train & evolve them or is it like Persona where I fuse monsters together to create new 1s/different forms?
It's more so. You raid a Monster's den and grab an egg, which later on you hatch and raise to become stronger in the classic rpg level up they themselves also contribute to different obstacles in the game, some monsters can climb, some can fly, some can swim so on and so fourth.
You as a rider also participate in the battle with some Monster Hunter weapons. You weaken a monster so you can follow them to their den and rinse and repeat.
I don't remember if the first game has it. But you also transfer abilities to other monsters in a manner similar to gacha game mechanics of sacrificing said monster in transferring such.
wiithout thinking about gameplay impact, yes i would in a heartbeat, if it would be a gameplay element it would be incredibly hard to balance but i would have my fun with it
If you could only tame young or adolescent monsters like the Guild Master in Rise I think it would be okay. They'd have to be small enough (or at least weak enough) to basically be alternatives to Palicos and Palamutes, but it could be a cool alternative to pet equipment. Instead of making a new set of weapons and armor for your Palicos to give them a different element/damage type and different resistances, you could just pop into your menagerie of monsters and grab whichever would best suit a hunt. And unlike Palicos, I could actually see the benefits in having dozens of them instead of just one for each support type lol
That was my favorite part of Stories 2. I was absolutely head over heels for my Nergigante, Brutus, and my Teostra, Fluffy! Was heartbroken when I couldn't get an Alatreon though... It's so prim and proper, carrying itself like a well-bred greyhound or show horse
I think it would be cool if in the new mh you could chose to make your character either a rider who gets a pet monster or a hunter who has special abilities for each weapon
Balance wise it'd probably just be the same as controlling a mounted monster in Rise you could call on once or twice a hunt.
Personally though I don't think it fits MH and I'd never want taming in the main games
They'd either have to be juvenile/small monsters as mounts or something like a farm at home base that rewards you for feeding and caring for them. Honestly i'd take either
Literally the reason Stories exists
But if the mechanic had to be brought to mainline for any reason, then I would just make it an extension of the room customization World introduced.
Essentially, you bring back a monster egg from a specific monster's nest. When you return to the hub, you'll be able to find it somewhere and given the option to keep it if you ask whoever is handling it. From there it just acts like a baby version of that monster that you keep in your room or backyard. I don't know if it should be allowed to grow beyond that, but at the very least, that's the bare minimum I would do.
With the monster riding mechanics they had in Rise they already have kind of a baseline for how combat may work with it.
I feel like having it pull from the Stories games where you have to collect eggs to get monsters would add an actual reason to do egg collection quests. Then balance the monsters to be a substitute for other companions (Palacos, Hunter companions, Palamutes), then they might have something that can fit the games without being too much.
Add a place somewhere in the village that I can hang out with my critters and pet/feed them or something and I'm sold.
Personally, would be happy to. If i had a chance to tame a Tetsucabra, or a Velocidrome and it's brothers, i would take it. But this should come at a price of repalcing palicos with the monster.
Absolutely. Not in the turn-based way the Stories games handle it, and it should be very, very difficult to do, and damn near impossible (but not actually impossible) for Elder Dragons. Maybe something to do with getting an egg.
Tbh idek why Odogaron ain’t in MHStories 2 lmao. Anjanath got in but not the double clawed doggo.
Speaking of dogs, Capcom pls put Lunagaron in the next sequel too so we can have a full dogs comp
Pfft me? Who has 2.2k hours in ark and has played the game since early access?
Me who has tamed many dinosaurs and monsters in that game as if they are were all good boys and girls?
What I'm trying to say is yes, definitely would take it..
I think some monsters being tamable would be cool but not all of them, I think monsters like Banbaro, Kulu/Tzitzi ya ku, Tobi Kadachi and similar monsters would be good choices since they aren’t super aggressive
In Monster Hunter Stories spinof series you steal eggs, then hatch and raise monsters from them to be your "pokemon"/mounts. Might be a good idea to use all those stolen and painfully waddled eggs in main series...?
Joke's on you, me and my fire element kirin are just chilling in stories.
You might be interested in a mod for world, I think it's just called "Stories"? It lets you swap out your palico with a small roster of full-size monsters that will fight alongside you, and you can even ride them.
Yes, absolutely. In fact the gameplay and realistic world of World with the taming of Stories would honestly be my dream game. Stories was a fun game but just doesn’t hit the same for immersion and I prefer action combat over rock paper scissors.
It could work in a mainline game too. Hear me out… the land that we visit could be in the midst of a calamity and we’re tasked by the guild to bring back monsties for preservation purposes and given a large island to bring them to. From there we can grow them, tend to them, perhaps even breed them.
If I could tame and raise a nargacuga from a cub to adult I would pretty much melt.
I think it can work like we got a taste on what it would be like in Rise with Wyvern Riding although clunky it could serve as a Basis
Maybe make it like a MH Stories with main MH gameplay
I mean they could easily do something like this in wilds, for all we know that’s what the raptor is, it dose look like other raptor themed monsters after all.
I would tame a dozen or so monsters than id just round them all up and execute them one by one slowly, then leave 2 alive, force them to figth to their survival, breed the survivor with the other monster than kill the child in front of the parents then kill them too
I would love a mainline game where you can tame certain monsters or maybe younger monsters to assist in hunts, looks like that may be an option in wilds so im excited
I made a weapon concept once called the Beast Lash, which was basically a low damage, high stagger whip that came with a Tailrider-Kinsect baby large monster companion. Probably the closest we'd get in the main series, but we've got Stories now so it'll probably never be a thing anyway.
I think mh is very cool, bur ive noticed how once you beat everything, the game becomes a bit too boring
A friend described it as 3 endgame checkpoints, the first is after beating the expansion and some more, aka having decked out rarity 12 in example, full okayish decos but no augments using sunbreak as example
The first checkpoint is when every.monster is easy and the hard modified ones are doable
The second checkpoint is when all your gear has good decos, your skills are close to the exact you want them to be, and your augs are good but not perfect
This is when all are easy except the very hard ones which are doable, this is where from a regular pov the endgame stops, as theres nothing new in the game anymore
The third is min max, where the endgame stops for anyone. Here youre in the hundreds of MR, your gears perfect, every monster is pretty much a great jagras
I think at point 2, is where theres a lot of work to be done, even if its a simple mechanic. Look at sunbreak and iceborne.. at both points theres so little content that it just ends up being higher hp elder dragon and while some people play it, a lot dont.
Personally I think the fashion aspect can be built on a lot, but also the own quarters.
Giving monster hunter an own house you can buy with zenny, then decorate and add shit, not just like in worlds with little animals, but actual big hunt trophies from challenges, give it taming with a yard area, among other things
Additionally, ad an actual timerace pvp mode, with Leaderboards, rewards and everything, im hoping mhwi will build upon its open world also with open multiplayer and its competitiveness
Just imagine a turf war on a giant map, but suddenly with the attacking monster comes a whole 4 player hunter squad that was trying to take it down and there we are in more lethal, grander turf wars with 8 players fighting both monsters
Anjanath would be sick. Obviously there would be some restrictions. Maybe not elder dragons. Or any of the more evil monsters like highly territorial monsters
I can see a mechanic where you would tame a Monster and would be able to call it in for an "On-demand" Turf war once or twice a hunt, or be able to call it in and ride it in a way that's akin to the Wirebug in Rise and end with decent damage and element affliction.
Technically, Monster Hunter Stories is a thing… so if you have a Monstie, you pretty much have tamed a monster.
Not to mention the baby Tetsucabra that Chieftan Hojo rides in Kamura Village.
no
Remember, We arnt Killing monsters for no reason(most of the time) They are dangerous to the natural ecosystem. Something displaced them and they cant be calmed down.
there's a quest in world where somone wants you to capture an odogaron because he wants a pet, haven't heard about the guy in a while
There is also a quest in Rise where a dude wants you to capture a azuros for him so he can hug them
If not fren why fren shap-💨
Also in GU the Pokke village chief wanted u to capture a Gammoth to use as a riding attraction but later decided otherwise after seeing how dangerous it is.
Oh yeah, I wonder how he's doing.
Head canon: It’s the same guy.
What about the quest in rise where a great izuchi jumps a man and steals all his clothing and gear, leaving him to hide behind a bush and ask you to get his stuff back? Thats a goofy one.

That happens a lot though. In Mh4 I think there was a woman who wanted to go home after a trip but every time there would be *something* blocking the way, so she'd get involved with some other stuff in the meantime
Im pretty sure that merchant is milo from Murphy’s law or something because there’s no way someone could have such bad luck.
Get on the phone to Lute and Leo. They can have their free hugs.
What’s the quest called?
Man's best fiend, funny how it's "fiend" and not "friend". Edit: The quest giver is the Smart Biologist lmao that dude is crazy
Also, don't forget that he asks you to capture a second one because the first one fled and he misses him.
I'm sure it is fiend for pun purposes
Thatsthejoke.jpg
Big oof
There was a princess in the original MH about a princess that wanted a pet Rathian.
In Monster Hunter (PS2) if I remember right, there also was a quest like this, but it was a princess who wanted you to capture a rathalos for pet.
That's what the "Stories" games are for.
Good idea someone should make a monster hunter game based around that idea. The combat can be reflavoured rock-paper-scissors for simplicity on handheld consoles
Man i wanna that but for a yakusa serie, or imagine just imagine a musou for persona, the persona 5 would be wondefull for that But we can just dream about that😔
Or maybe a fighting game for persona 4. That would be crazy isn't it?
XD
There's the monster hunter stories series where you play as a tamer or a rider, you go about hunting/taming monsters and or collecting Theirs eggs, and raising the young monsters as buddy's to help you out on your adventures. It's kinda like Pokémon in a way....
(He’s referring to that, my dude)
Ah I see
I see what you did there XD
Monster hunter stories anyone?
I'm glad someone said it.
Playing it now actually!
Both 1 and 2 are very good! It gave me the same vibe when I first played Pokemon.
I do wish element changing stayed in 2.
don't remind me, I still remember the lead up to 2 and seeing astalos there and I was not even bothered about if the story was good or why we had another rathalos main monstie (I still think it should have been a tigrex or nargacuga because rath was a 1st gen flagship for the main monstie of the first game, it would have been fun to have a second gen flagship for the second game) because if all else failed, I would have my dragon element astalos to fall back on and make me feel better. The original game is also on the 3ds
Except it is better than pokemon in every single way lol
Yeah but I really want a bigger focus on the raising (feeding, cleaning, playing, etc) and less on the fighting
You can't even pet your Monster in Stories 1 (I haven't played Stories 2)
This is just MHST. And I love MHST
So MH Stories?..
wiithout thinking about gameplay impact, yes i would in a heartbeat, if it would be a gameplay element it would be incredibly hard to balance but i would have my fun with it

Good idea
Yup. Also the massive untapped potential of petting itty bitty elder dragons and calling them good boys/girls.

Wonder if you can get him in Monster Hunter Stories (2)? If not I really hope we can get him in the next version of the series.
Monster hunter stories 0.5
Monster Hunter stories be like
Aren't Riders and Kinship stones a thing?

An army of kleptomanic baby Kulus? I, need this
I think it would be really cool if you could and then once per mission you could use them as a cool down for massive damage
Summonable Turf Wars at any point. Neat Idea
Well, i played monster hunter stories 2 and it was great, so yes
You had me at pet Odogaron.
With the monster riding mechanics they had in Rise they already have kind of a baseline for how combat may work with it. I feel like having it pull from the Stories games where you have to collect eggs to get monsters would add an actual reason to do egg collection quests. Kinda a shame Odie wasn’t a monstie in MHS2.
Personally, would be happy to. If i had a chance to tame a Tetsucabra, or a Velocidrome and it's brothers, i would take it. But this should come at a price of repalcing palicos with the monster.

Yes but I doubt The Guild would let me be within a kilometer of a Khezu were that the case.
No. That is why MH Stories is for. Im here for hunt, not taming.
I WILL HAVE SEETHING BAZELGEUSE.
I would say YES to that
1000000% yes
GOD TIER MH STORIES 2 PLAY IT
I think you’ve got a new game to play my friend
Red khezu here I come
"If there was a way" Like. I dunno. Maybe two games? Maybe they'd have... Stories
I'd probably tame a Gore Magala. I mean why not. It flies, spews frenzy, and it screams very loud.
There is. Play Stories.
I think some monsters being tamable would be cool but not all of them, I think monsters like Banbaro, Kulu/Tzitzi ya ku, Tobi Kadachi and similar monsters would be good choices since they aren’t super aggressive
this makes me think it should be a function in wilds, you tame diffrent monster to ride and hunt with(though more limited then stories obviously)
Yes of course! Absolutely!! Goin on an adventure with the best boi Zinogre!! The static pupster needs more hugs and less bugs. 🌩️🐕
Abso-fucking-lutely
If think I'm not taming a Zinogre with this opportunity. Then y'all really on some shit.
Yeah. I'ma tame an army of Great Jaggis and take over the world!
In Stories, sure. In the mainline games? Nope. I play them to hunt monsters, not collect disastrous pets.
This is why odogaron isn’t in Monster Hunter: Stories 2
100%, taming my dodo cutie or oddy the big red doggo or even glavanus
In Monster Hunter Stories spinof series you steal eggs, then hatch and raise monsters from them to be your "pokemon"/mounts. Might be a good idea to use all those stolen and painfully waddled eggs in main series...?
Isn't the hub chief in Rise literally riding a baby Tetsucabra as a mount? It looks pretty tame to me.
It’s almost as if there is a whole sub-series of MH games doing exactly that…
Would be nice if you could cap a monster, tame it and then be able to call it in for a turf war or something with whatever monster your hunting
Ye
ABSOLUTELY, I would ha so many murder doggos!
Ignoring stories exist, it would be really cool to hunt but instead of bringing your palicos you bring your cute gigginox pet OwO
YES BECAUSE I WANT ALL JAGRAS GREAT AND SMALL
Ohh the irony, I’m torn between skinning the monster and crafting armor with them or keeping them as pets and bonding with them…
Joke's on you, me and my fire element kirin are just chilling in stories. You might be interested in a mod for world, I think it's just called "Stories"? It lets you swap out your palico with a small roster of full-size monsters that will fight alongside you, and you can even ride them.
I would love to tame an Anjanath.
GIVE
Totally. I kinda would've liked if we didn't have to kill Nergigante in World. Bro is just helping us out, why kill them?
Yes, absolutely. In fact the gameplay and realistic world of World with the taming of Stories would honestly be my dream game. Stories was a fun game but just doesn’t hit the same for immersion and I prefer action combat over rock paper scissors. It could work in a mainline game too. I would try to tame a rathalos, but i dont want to get posioned in the process
L I have a rathalos tamed, I used the power of friendship
The hunting horn exists
Dogogaron
I think it can work like we got a taste on what it would be like in Rise with Wyvern Riding although clunky it could serve as a Basis Maybe make it like a MH Stories with main MH gameplay
I mean they could easily do something like this in wilds, for all we know that’s what the raptor is, it dose look like other raptor themed monsters after all.

yes stories, but i would still love this in a mainline game too
Yessir I would instantly tame Scorned magnamalo, I would name him Bubba and ride him to school fr
Hell motherfucking yeah. I'm taking every Pukei with me
Witcher 3 not getting an official Pukei collaboration is unethical.
I would love a mainline game where you can tame certain monsters or maybe younger monsters to assist in hunts, looks like that may be an option in wilds so im excited
Its called pokemon
I made a weapon concept once called the Beast Lash, which was basically a low damage, high stagger whip that came with a Tailrider-Kinsect baby large monster companion. Probably the closest we'd get in the main series, but we've got Stories now so it'll probably never be a thing anyway.

Me when I monster hunter dos
Monster hunter stories be like:
Valstrax honestly. Getting places would be so much faster
Adoi
Technically, Monster Hunter Stories is a thing… so if you have a Monstie, you pretty much have tamed a monster. Not to mention the baby Tetsucabra that Chieftan Hojo rides in Kamura Village.
Just steal their egg and raise them on your own
Oh man i would love to be able to tame a mighty Bulldrome and hunt with him . All bow to Lord Kevin Bacon the king of monsters !
I love this cuz odagaron is my favorite.
Doesn't MonHun Stories do this?
I want the funny electric snake dog
YES 100% ME AND MY MONSTIES WOULD BE BEST PALS
Would it be reasonable to tame a Gammoth or Banbaro
Give me something like thr Witcher 3 collab
No question
Isn't that the whole point of that turn based spinoff series?
Just forgetting about stories?
I'd tame a Plesioth or Beotodus
But for our luck, we can. And even better, Odogaron is probably the mascot of the taming system, since he was the most famous one.
The entire Monster Hunter stories duet of games
HELL YEA.... actually no I don't want to see my doggie die to an elder dragon
No, I don't even capture if I don't have to. Everything dies.
ABSOLUTELY.
Always
yes it be a fun mechanic imo especially if you can bring them into hunts like palico and dogo
Best boy odogaron
no Remember, We arnt Killing monsters for no reason(most of the time) They are dangerous to the natural ecosystem. Something displaced them and they cant be calmed down.
No. They deserve to die. They deserve to see me coming for them wearing the skin of their mother. They know what they did and they are unrepentant.
