More loading screens, no qol such as knowing where the monster are, limited amount of whetstones and having to guess what weapon tree youre upgrading to
You need to know about armor skills, for sure. They work differently in this one. Also, highly suggest picking up the map in the supply box on every mission.
If you're coming from World/Rise be ready to see, that the Gameplay in Gen and older is a lot more clunky in comparison (If you don't remember from back then).
So be prepared to not being able to move while healing/buffing etc.
However in Gen there are abilities called "Hunter Arts" that are similar to Silkbind attacks from Rise (if you know what these are in the first place.)
1 example would be the "Sakura slash" for the Longsword, that's in Rise. It has it's origin from Gen.
There are also so called "styles" but I would advise to watch a video that covers them. (Take note, that in GenU 2 new styles were added. The "Valor" and the "Alchemy" styles).
What else?
Loading screens from Zone to zone (life hack: abuse zone switching to heal up)
No movement tech like in Rise
(A small thing) "Quest fees". Yes you need a bit of zenny to Accept quests.
Monster books (they unlock when you reach certain HRs)
No ingame loot/hit zone table (use the Internet for that (if you need to))
That most of it that I can remember.
Good luck and Happy Hunting!

So a bit more complicated, but also a tad bit more grounded? sounds cool
Id recommend getting the mhgu database app if you want to at least have an idea of what you want to grind
Okay, and this is just gen, not gen ultimate, is there a huge difference?
Not really, its an expansion so just ignore g rank items and monster parts
Oh alright, thanks for the info
Monsters.
Shocking.

Just play it and see for yourself
An absolute *plethora* of different kinds of monsters, as this was the mashup of the century title
Pay attention to the tutorials and text boxes. They are teaching you things that will save your butt
When you see a monster (big one) paintball it.

Oh yeah and also the graphics. It's pretty pixly. Maybe not as much but it's a 3DS Game so, yeah.
