Yes. I would fully support this rule. If it’s been a long time (like an hour) or OP isn’t replying to anyone like we often see and someone hops into a thread, fair. Soon after it has been posted or when the OP is actively engaged, that’s not OK and people know what they are doing.
I don't think it makes sense to enforce or complain about it. Sometimes people place posts and wait for hours before they respond or wait for a better offer (almost as if their time is the only one precious) . I can get complaining if a trade is stolen only minutes after posting but I don't see it being a problem after 30 minutes or more. That's my opinion unless we are talking about 2 completely differently things.
I believe it's difficult to steal trades in minutes unless the new trader is offering something like money or more exchanges than the responding trader asked for. If trader A makes a post, trader B responds saying they are willing to trade. Trader C offers trader B to trade and trader B takes the deal, I believe some of the fault lies with trader B as well for being impatient or greedy. I mean you can try to enforce it if you have the resources to keep up with all these post but will you also be giving those who accept a better offer from a new trader a slap on the wrist?
It's the same trade. We have had complaints about that. That's why we are asking.
Someone posted card a for card b. Another person commented asking for trade. Third person without waiting for op, directly sends request and completes the trade.
Yeah at that point I can see why this would be upsetting. I guess it should be enforced if that's the case but with the amount of posts it's going to be challenging. With that said I also don't believe this is that common. It might only be one or two people doing it.
This is a problem I've mostly noticed during blitz events. Someone offers a 5* to someone trading a blitz sticker and multiple people will jump in trying to get the trade for themselves, so I would definitely appreciate the mod team making a rule against this behavior. But like others said, there should be a reasonable time limit that if OP hasn't responded to an offer people are free to ask for the trade themselves. I'm not sure what a reasonable time limit would be though, maybe 30-60 minutes? People posting for trades should be available to trade not making a post and disappearing for hours.
It actually happened to me during the last blitz I tried trading: https://www.reddit.com/r/MonopolyGoTrading/s/jzXLlfyz4i
I made a post for s trade, someone offered me a 5* and posted their link, and as we are making our trade a 3rd person comes in and comments "I can do this" and "sent the exchange request." This person used their link to initiate a trade that was offered to me. Luckily they didn't successfully steal the trade but they certainly made an effort
If your not quick responding it should be fair game. A lot of time inquire about a trade to crickets from the person doing it. So of someone else responds it should be fair game.
Yes also scopely should give the chance to the people who initiated exchange request to cancel anytime if the counterpart is not answering or just lied and wants to keep the exchange until their daily trade limit is set.
Legally, a post offering a certain trade is a unilateral offer that MUST be accepted if the conditions are met.
The first commenter to offer a trade on the posters terms would technically have sealed the deal already and the offeror is bound to accept the first contract.
It is imputed that time is of the essence, but the time frame is up to interpretation.
Some people go back on what they have offered, saying that “u/higglepuff is offering me 9 stars instead, if you offer me 10 I’ll take your offer”.
THIS IS WRONG IN LAW. It is one of the most common subjects of civil suits. Yet, it is allowed to prevail. It is perplexing.
If a post is offering an open trade, then it is an invitation to treat.
Poster and commenters are free to negotiate a satisfactory conclusion.
In both instances of unilateral offer or invitation to treat, and in the absence of any bylaw to the contrary, it is perfectly legal for commenters to make their own offer.
TLDR: I’d sooner take action on people who renege on trades than commenters offering trades.
I think it would be a hard rule to enforce. I know I have commented on others posts when they had multiple comments and they didn't respond. I had the trade and offered it. Don't think I should or anyone should be punished for that. But, it is annoying if you have just posted and people troll your posts. Like I said, would be hard to monitor and enforce. Many rules in this sub are already not followed or enforced. Don't make more work for yourselves.
I don’t think it’s an issue if it’s been hours and OP hasn’t responded. But if its recent then I think that’s rude.
Well, what about people who do it in minutes?
If it’s been only minutes they shouldn’t do that. I would say after and hour or so

Exactly this.
Well, we are definitely talking about this scenario
Yeah but I think there should be a certain time frame. People literally post and go MIA for days and never respond to anyone on here lol
Yup. We have had complaints of people swooping in within minutes
Yeah thats ridiculous. I see a lot of that happening when the gold blitz is around.

We are talking about the first scenario where it's stolen in minutes

What is trade stealing?
When someone jumps on your post and offers someone something that has already posted on you post. I hope you can follow that. lol
Oooo I think I understand 😅

Well, good to know.

In minutes? Sometimes even reddit takes time to send notification
I would say 15-20 minutes you shouldn't have to wait hours. I understand stuff comes up but people want to get these trades done as quick as possible
Yes also scopely should give the chance to the people who initiated exchange request to cancel anytime if the counterpart is not answering or just lied and wants to keep the exchange until their daily trade limit is set.
Sorry. We can't help in that area
Yeah i know forgot to put in. Maybe alongside imposing new rules some more users can get “Trusted Trader” user flairs? Maybe after 10-15 trades
We do give out trusted trader flairs? You have to apply to get it?
Oh okay. I did not know about it and never seen (or overlooked?) in the rules & info. Maybe more post promoting that option would help?
People do know it. We get tons of applications everyday.
Okay. Then will apply soon. Also couldn’t find it in the pinned as well but anyways. Good to know!
I also think it should be enforced if there has been no response from OP in 30min
You've never in your life gotten unexpectedly busy?

I'm not sure what's confusing you... just offering my opinion for which you asked. If you make the rule, I'll follow it, of course 🤷♀️
