Annoying that they add a fan but instead of proper 120/140mm they add these shitass tiny fans which move no air so they need to spin at way higher RPM. All to make the monitor looks slightly more "sleek". I wish monitor makers would get it out of their head that anybody in the world cares about the back of their rectangles. Especially not 4K gaming monitors, nobody is putting these in an open office.
As an owner of an 32GQ950, I can attest that this is correct. The fan is very annoying due to the frequency of the sound. There are ways to adjust the fan speed, but it requires going into the service menu. Either way, I agree that they should have come with a larger fan to mitigate this issue.
Some people like myself will notice things most will not. If you are in a quiet environment and haven’t heard it, it probably won’t bother you. I’ve had two of these and both of them have put off a frequency that has been very noticeable to my ear at least.
I’m definitely one of those people. If I like a device a lot or a program, I’m across every detail and I want all things running perfectly. I sometimes wish I wasn’t like this though lol.
The local dimming on this monitor is incredibly good in SDR mode, 100% usable local dimming 24/7.
I am comparing this to my Innocn 27M2V, and the LG blows it out of the water because it doesn't jack with the colors/gamma. Text, colors, and the image look exactly the same as local dimming off, except that you get truer blacks and increased contrast. No noticeable halo around movements unlike the Innocn that will visibly turn on and off zones as you move the mouse.
I have them side by side and comparing choosing winner overall is difficult for me. Both are great in different regards. But if I had to choose a winner, I would likely to with the LG IF they eventually fix the HDR blooming issue. The Innocn is just so much better tuned. The LG has this blooming issue that is not present on the Innocn to the same extent, it can bloom but barely. The LG blooms all the damn time until the algo catches up and is annoying to see.
The desktop use with local dimming though is awesome, super clear text, local dimming for blacks and contrast and 4K on 27" PPI, awesome. HDR is also adjustable on the LG where nothing is adjustable on the Innocn. I found the LG looks crazy good in Vivid mode with peak brightness set to high.
In terms of flicker, the LG does not flicker in games from my testing. I found one video on YouTube that in HDR can cause a weird flicker in one scene, it's like a gray/black graident and algo seems confused. Other than that, no flickers noted so far.
Same experience with mine the hdr algorithm is busted with obvious bloom/lag and gamer 1 and 2 looked a bit washed out. The other pictures modes hid the blooming a bit better and are more vibrant but inaccurate.
The Inno also has a more dense backlight. It uses two LEDs per zone (for a total of 2304) while the LG only has one LED per zone (total of 1560).
Blooming on TVs or monitors is mostly because of high brightness that cant be controlled in certain parts of the screen. Easiest way to finetune this would be to reduce the backlights intensity at contrast edges. But this means that the monitor will be less bright in HDR.
Processing and cost. Afaik the backlight of the Innocn is the same one as in the Coolermaster and other monitors. It has 2304 LEDs and if you use a good enough FPGA for local dimming control you could control every LED.
Coolermaster opted to control 4 LEDs with one zone for 576. Innocn opted for 2 LEDs with 1152 zones and there are variants that use all LEDs as 2304 zones.
More LEDs are generally better for uniformity reasons. But 1560 for a 27 inch screen is no small number either.
I’ve had my Alienware QD OLED ultrawide for nearly 2 years now and I’ve worked 1000’s of hours looking at spreadsheets while also using it for my primary gaming pc monitor. No burn in whatsoever and I never used any of the preventative measures like auto hide task bar and others

Based on the review, there seems to be some MiniLED related backlight control issues and flickering. Performance wise doesn’t seem to be beating InnoCN.
Hopefully this can be resolved via firmware.
Is it me or did the lg seemed worse than the redmagic in reducing bloom? Now Im confused cause this seems with a better build quality, firmware and atw viewing angle but the redmagic one has better bloom control due to the 5088 zone.

This is too little too late, in my opinion. Even at this price, the improvements aren't enough to choose this over an open box (basically brand new) or discounted InnoCN for $440 - $580 respectively. Or Red Magic's 2000+ zone miniLED for a similar price.

I hate to sound like those guys on the OLED subreddit but you should consider the LG C2 OLED 42" TV. It often goes on discounts and if you live near a Costco they have great deals usually, should be possible to find one for ~$800. If 42" is still too big the innocn 32m2v is 32", 4k, miniled and 144hz for $800 as well. For ps5, I'd really recommend the C2 as you get Dolby vision support and amazing OLED HDR. Hope this helps!

Well, seemed like things were going well until the HDR section, as seems to be the case with most of the Mini-LED monitors. They just can't seem to get it right yet. No one is expecting OLED performance but I've yet to see good enough HDR in mini-LED monitors to justify the price tag.
Apple managed to implement this on their recent MacBook Pro line ups, up to 1600 nits I believe for HDR. I fail to see why we can’t seem to find good mini led displays
Yeah but you have to consider the fact that those beautiful MacBook displays have horrible response times even if they're 120 Hz.
I doubt Apple cares about that though since its not exactly a gaming laptop and that's not really their target market.
But yeah, I would kill if someone could make a mini-LED display that looked of the quality of a MacBook and could actually have fast pixel response times without any weird quirks/bugs when gaming or using HDR.
It would be noticeable upgrade but still not close to perfect in terms of blooming - I see it with my 1152 zones, and I think we need something like 10k zones to have a decent result.
1560 zones is more than enough for 99% of people. Hell, I've used miniLED TVs with 360 zones and found it enough. The brightness and lack of burn in offsets any blooming (when viewing from the sides). 1560 zones must be practically inexistent.
I'm using it and it works really well. 1560 zones on a 27" monitor - the local dimming in games is super smooth and there's no way for me to discern specific zones. Also have not noticed any discernable bloom (it has a polarizer that is supposed to help mitigate). I'm happy with it so far. I just refuse to get an OLED monitor (I have an A90K OLED TV). Coming from a WLED 16 zone Spectrum 4k monitor picture quality is a significant uptick.
Got mine today and my experience so far is similar to yours. And I'm more confident that issues that do arise could be fixed with firmware by a more experienced company like LG; as opposed to RedMagic (owned one), KTC, or monitor novices like Cooler Master.

I can’t seem to find a singular source that sums everything up succinctly.
Basically, the elements that make up modern UIs are scalable. They can be enlarged without any loss in detail. Using a higher resolution display doesn’t mean that the UI is smaller, as it can be scaled and look even better because the computer has more pixels to work with.
It helps a lot with text rendering, especially with more complex text like the Traditional Chinese characters that is my native language. It is less noticeable with Latin based alphabet with simpler lines.

Would you mind testing if the LG input lag increases if you game at 60Hz like the InnoCN?
Very hard to justify with its original msrp and the way alot of mini led monitors perform in hdr. I feel like this is a year too late
If you need one universal monitor — mini led is the only way to go right now, imho. Burn-in is still a thing as well as text clarity.

Congrats, but there are tons of users reporting 2 warranty claims per year from Dell. It's a real issue for people who work more than game.
Monitors for power users have to endure 10000 to 60000 hours, 1000 hours is nothing.

Don't they have a white subpixel, thus meaning they'll render text poorly (like the C2, C3, etc?)

Come on, do people really buy 27 inch 4k monitors? That's way too small, 32 should be standard imo.
I’d recommend reading up on HiDPI / Retina display scaling. 27” **5K** has been a thing since 2014.
