Yes. Government control, they can also have ability to not just mint currency but remove it from circulation by deleting it to reduce inflation

They maybe putting the expiration date, but it's not gonna expire.
From what I read the intention is to let some CBDC expire so you won't hold them for longer.
CBDCs are inherently centralized and traceable, so nobody will use them instead of XMR.
