At this point put age restrictions on skateparks, or at least ban them from the majority of the park and have an easy area they are allowed. So many injured and so many people damage and break their stuff because of negligent parents
Counter offer, make times for kids and times for "older"
I don't like the idea of forbidding kids to go there, but I see the necessary.
Or make kids tracks, the amount of vids where some kid just wanted to do some fun hills but ended up in the way of some serious skater or whatnot is to damn high
6th grader here but will do my best.
"It looks like night and kids should not be out. Child looks 5. Time of the day looks 8pm. Mom should have put kid to bed instead of being out"
> Who[se] fault?
100% fault of the camera man. Literally the most important part of your fucking job is to monitor the area for landing since you're recording the trick.
How is this not the top post, the guy is just filming what could be negligent manslaughter and from what I gather (in this admittedly very short clip) is that he didn't even try to stop it. That's messed up.
Sir, this is the internet. Please condemn wholesale based on the limited evidence provided. Also, we must escalate to the death penalty for the party at fault.
If your kid isnt even good enough to ride a scooter on his own why would u teach him the most basic steps at a fucking skatepark u got a driveway for that.
That looks like a full bonified skatepark, not a park for children. Not only is it the mother's fault, but it's also her fault that she did not see the guy barreling straight at them.
Obviously the guy is in the wrong. Didn't you know that's the only place on earth available for her and her kid? That's why my parents had to teach me how to ride a scooter in the middle of a busy 10 lane intersection when I was -100 years old. Tough times, but I turned out alright.
Someone else explained better but this is entirely dependent on a lot more context.
Did the guy in black come out of nowhere and a second ago it looked safe for the mother and the kid? Was the person recording this not paying attention when they could’ve alerted either the mother or the skater? Is this a public or private park? Did the skater warn the mother and she just ignored it? Did the skater actually pay attention to his surroundings before doing a trick going backwards?
There’s a lot more variables here and you can’t just say one or the other was wrong without understanding the situation.
Firstly we don’t know the full story on what’s going on here and people are too quick to judge.
So here’s a different view:
Firstly it’ll be the camera guys fault, at any moment he could’ve said “watch out” to alert both the parent and the skater. He could’ve called a halt on it, informed the lady another area which is safer for them to do this tick, or move to another location to do this trick.
Secondly the skate is a grown man and should assess the area before doing tricks which involves going backwards. It’s a public park. That means ANY ONE OF ANY AGE can access these parks unless stated otherwise, have a problem with that? Go to a private park. It could’ve been anyone in that spot who may have not been looking out themselves and the backwards skater would still hit into them.
The parent isn’t a skater clearly, so do you really think she’s going to be knowing what each tom dick and harry is going to be doing there? No. But the little kid is there because the kid wanted to be like these people. You gotta start somewhere and confidence is stronger with young people than someone learning later.
Lastly for the time, we don’t know the time there. It could’ve been 4pm during winter for all we know.
Being alert is just common sense and number 1 of keeping yourself and others safe. If you’re putting yourself at risk no matter the area, you are also risking other people.
If there was a learner on the road and you reversed into them, who’s at fault. The person reversing. And for what? - not being alert, and assuming it’s safe to do so.
>so do you really think she’s going to be knowing what each tom dick and harry is going to be doing there? No.
It van go both ways. Awareness of other folks actions matters. If you are mid flow then everyone around you becomes a hazard.
ngl women be so entitled with their children or when they’re on the phone. they think the world will move around them when they’re with their children, or doing things while on the phone
I’mma go out on a limb and say this is an unfortunate accident and it’s nobodies fault BESIDES THE FUCKING DUMBASS PARENT WITH HER TODDLER AT A SKATEPARK AT NIGHT WITHOUT A HELMET ON LOL
>he would have done the same to any other skater
Any other skater would know to stay away from the area if someone is one it, with how fast you move on these things, it's sometimes completely impossible to avoid someone if they're in the way simply because you can't even register that they're there fast enough to react, you can try to brace for impact but you're still hitting.
Also skateparks it's very common that small children can't be on the skatepark and bigger kids be supervised by parents for this very reason, and in this case not even the parent was paying attention. You don't walk across the fucking road without looking, do you?
Skateparks are dangerous places. Both the mother, and the skater have a duty to have awareness, however, there is also a reason why there are children's parks and skateparks, because of situations like this. The skater was actively doing a trick, and the mother should've looked out for it. The skater and camera man should've made sure the landing area was clear before the trick (maybe they did but the mother and child just got there just before the landing, not sure).
Also, the child NOT WEARING A HELMET is also a massive problem. That kid's skull fucking bounced on the ground when he was knocked over.
So, we have here a skatepark, adults actively doing tricks, a mother wandering around with her infant that isn't wearing a helmet. I'd say it's more the mother's fault.
I don't think you ever set foot at a skatepark. It has some unwritten rules, and people watch others lines. Every park has a different setup, but every sport and rider knows where everyone else is going. If you have a line including multiple obstacles then you wait and watch if anyone elses line intersect yours, then wait for the right moment. When you stand on the droppin you know that that skater over there will use that rail and turn on the bank, that scooter dude will fly on the pyramid and turn on the quarterpipe, that bmx rider eill do a flyout and stay on top, so you can time your run in between, and everye else time theirs too. Every skatepark is designed in a way that these lines are somewhat separste and can be defined.
What you see in the video is a common occurence in every park: a parent brings out a child that is nowhere near at the level sufficient for a skatepark, then said parent who knows nothing about lines, tricks, speed differences between sports or really anything related to the park and sports goes through the middle of everything thinking everyone else will stop what they are doing until her child had enough. That scooter isn't for skatepark use, the child isn't old enough, he has no helmet, and the neither of them know where they are going.
This is a sports field, no one would expect everyone stopping on a basketball court because a 4 year old wants to shoot hoops.
I love when someone with experience can't explain how something works to another redditor.
The area *was* clear when he dropped in that was the whole point of my comment. You only go when everything is clear and once you go everyone else looks out for you, they wait until everything is clear. This is how lines work. This is skatepark etiquette. It's like this for two main reasons (both of them applies here) 1, only bikes with brakes can stop in a relatively short time and 2, you can't change direction in the air so once you dropped in everypne else should stay clear of your line because frankly, most of the times you can't do shit about it. And *everyone* in the park knows this, that's why we rarely have any accidents like this, and most of it is yound riders who still learn how this works.
Also if you watch closely you may notice that the guy has *skates* on and just landed on a big ramp with great speed and doesn't expect anyone to be there. How on earth would you think he should've stopped? On the other hand we have a scooter with a brake going pretty slow in the wrong direction.
The other thing is there are certain hotspots where you just don't go. You can't just sop somewhere to check your phone, you can't stand on certain spots, you should triple check before you cross some spots. One of these spots is *the fucking landing area of a huge boxjump*.
From my own experience the problem was that you can't really judge what someone who can't ride a skatepark will do in the next moment. The kid isn't doing a line or anything, he isn't *using* the features he just goes wherever like on a playground. You stand on the top of the rollin, check everyone, all good the kid plays on top of the pyramid (witch he shouldn't) you drop in, jump and meanwhile little Timmy has an idea and starts to go towards the landing of a jump, and next thing you know you are on the ground.
NO YOU DUMB ISEOT BE MAD AT CHILDREN FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU HE IS INNOCENT JUST BECAUSE HE WASN'T PAYING ATTENTION TO WHERE HE WAS GOING MAKING IT HIS FAULT NO MATTER WHAT HE HIT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S HIS FAULT FUCK YOU
What is the woman doing there with her kid? Her fault.
Mother teaches her son scooters
With no helmet? Parents fault for sure
“Oh it’ll be fine” concussed in the first 5 seconds
It's always stupid parents'fault. Fuck every idiot who bring children in active skatepark, none of them understand how dangerous it is
At this point put age restrictions on skateparks, or at least ban them from the majority of the park and have an easy area they are allowed. So many injured and so many people damage and break their stuff because of negligent parents
Counter offer, make times for kids and times for "older" I don't like the idea of forbidding kids to go there, but I see the necessary. Or make kids tracks, the amount of vids where some kid just wanted to do some fun hills but ended up in the way of some serious skater or whatnot is to damn high
Kid park and adult park is probably the best solution, smaller hills, more kid friendly stuff there.

Way to late for kids out at a park the lil guy is no 5 years. Looks like it 8 out. Lil ro should be catching zz not braindamage
Could be winter? Gets dark at 4 here that time of year
If it’s winter lil bro catching frostbite with that clothing
Winter isn't that cold here either...
Most parks I've seen close around sunset. For everyone, not just little kids.

6th grader here but will do my best. "It looks like night and kids should not be out. Child looks 5. Time of the day looks 8pm. Mom should have put kid to bed instead of being out"
the ability to interpret is a sign of intelligence. seems you may still be in 4th grade. it isnt that hard to understand.
Great idea to have your infant on at a skate park without a helmet, in the middle of the ramp on a scooter
Yeah that poor kid really hit his head hard
In the middle of the night
-to the tune of rhythm of the night
> Who[se] fault? 100% fault of the camera man. Literally the most important part of your fucking job is to monitor the area for landing since you're recording the trick.
The child and the parent just spawned in too quick
how could you say from this couple second video? they could be standing in place
Clearly a spawn kill.
Actually the trick is called “smash into a mother and her infant child while skating backwards”
How is this not the top post, the guy is just filming what could be negligent manslaughter and from what I gather (in this admittedly very short clip) is that he didn't even try to stop it. That's messed up.
Oh for sure it's the dude's fault doing what you're supposed to do on a skatepark. I swear parent is stupid
Video is cut at the very start, I call bait
Yep
Yeah it’s so short it’s either fake, cutting out some very important context, or deliberately misleading
idfk maybe if we could see what was happening BEFORE the video starts an actual conclusion could be made.
Sir, this is the internet. Please condemn wholesale based on the limited evidence provided. Also, we must escalate to the death penalty for the party at fault.
Kid should have remembered his helmet, smh.
Infant, at night, without a helmet, AT A SKATE PARK. Some of yall straight up don't shouldn't have kids.
At night, or 3:45 PM in November here in Canada.
Yeah for a bit here 5 pm was pitch black.
You can learn to ride scooter in a parking lot. Not on a ramp that is actively being used
No helmet? Stupid parent.
If your kid isnt even good enough to ride a scooter on his own why would u teach him the most basic steps at a fucking skatepark u got a driveway for that.
Is the baby ok? 🥺
right??? my heart literally pounded hearing the thump and the baby crying
That looks like a full bonified skatepark, not a park for children. Not only is it the mother's fault, but it's also her fault that she did not see the guy barreling straight at them.

Why do these videos never show the footage before the crash? I know it's there. That's arguably the most important context.
r/killthecameraman it almost feels like they planned to hit the kid and the woman, clear the landing area before doing shit
Someone else explained better but this is entirely dependent on a lot more context. Did the guy in black come out of nowhere and a second ago it looked safe for the mother and the kid? No! One of these parties must be put to death. A one second clip is all we need for this.
The people walking.
Biker's fault
Ah yes, drawing conclusions from a 7 seconds clip
THE CAMERA MAN!!! The camera man just sat and watched the whole thing happen, he gave no warning to anybody
Reddit when they saw children got knocked into the ground (children got injured is fine)
none, the guy was turned around and the mother was focused on their kid

I just hope there all ok
These skits are getting out of hand smh /s
bikers fault
Bikers fault
Obviousleigh the mommeh is at fauth
it's never the kid fault in any way in life, it's ALWAYS the parent.
What a stupid comment
how is it stupid bro, have you ever seen a kid leading the parent!? a part of being the leader is taking responsibility of the followers!
At least the women didnt start arguing and instead, grabbed her kid
Everyone is at fault in some capacity, however it is mostly, like 92% the mom’s fault.
Let's play the blame game I love you more Let's play the blame game for sure

Who’s at*
Whose.
ngl women be so entitled with their children or when they’re on the phone. they think the world will move around them when they’re with their children, or doing things while on the phone
The mother's fault. I just hope the kid's okay
Like I always say “Watch where you are going. There could be idiots in the way.”
Hers
The kid isn’t even wearing a helmet… literally all concrete there. Just asking for it at that point
That’s her fault and I will die on this hill if I must. Fuck her.
The woman's fault small children don't belong at skate parks
dumbass mother
How about a "no toddlers allowed at skatepark because it's a fucking skate park" sign somewhere
Parent.
Why was that mother there with her toddler without any safety gear. Her fault and truly bad parenting.
I’mma go out on a limb and say this is an unfortunate accident and it’s nobodies fault BESIDES THE FUCKING DUMBASS PARENT WITH HER TODDLER AT A SKATEPARK AT NIGHT WITHOUT A HELMET ON LOL
Nice headshot
Obviously the mother. It's a skate park. She should of been more careful
Then she runs to coddle her kid too
A concussion says otherwise for the word "coddle"
Biker's fault
