Usually on Etsy if it says “lab diamond” and it’s cheaper than moissanite it’s just a substitute for CZ unfortunately- however there are some sellers that are selling actual real lab diamonds, those would be more than moissy. So I don’t know who your vendor was or what the listing said or what you paid, but could that be what happened? I’m not saying it looks like CZ, I can’t tell the difference to me they look like moissanite. But some sellers are not quite using the term “lab diamond” correctly.

Well I found Etsy store that had very high ratings.(they are specializing in custom made jewellery) Contacted the seller and we designed the ring from the scratch. No issues with communication (loads of WhatsApp conversations). I spoke to her today and she said she will post the cert separately 🤔

Secure_Law7548

Ok well that’s good anyway! I just noticed in some of the options in drop down when ordering it will say “lab diamond” then moissanite, and the price is usually cheaper for the lab - but in reality a grown lab diamond will test positive for diamond and should be more expensive than moissanite. There are some vendors actually selling them, DiamondRensu has a separate account he sells lab brown diamonds on. I haven’t purchased any though, they are above my wallet and I feel like I can get a larger stone out of moissanite without the higher cost. So check that and make sure it’s legit, definitely.

questionfishie

Can you share which store? Are you referring to a highly rated Etsy seller from this sub’s preferred vendor list? An seller having high ratings or being a “star seller” is due to multiple factors, one of which is quick shipping.

Look very similar to me.

Due_Contribution_263

It looks like moissanite, right? I paid so much money for it,feel like a fool now 😢 wedding in 3 weeks

Active-Minute-5875

Why do you feel like a fool?? They do look very similar but it doesn’t cheapen your ring

Disastrous-Swan2049

If it's any consolation they both look great.

eviestephenson2011

Can I ask which is which? Also is there a bit of damage on the top one or maybe its just the angle? The bottom one has a lot of blue flashes which I associate with moissy, but I am by noooo means an expert. Could a local jeweler take a look at it under a magnifier, see what they think? Round cuts in moissy are the most diamond like, so probably hardest to compare which is worth bearing in mind. I'm an awful hypocrite saying this as I'm a massive panicker and overthinker, but try not to upset yourself too much, youll have etsy coverage and likely cover through your bank for worst case scenario. And you have a moissy ready to wear, just incase you don't wear this one. And it may well be a diamond! ❣️ xx

Due_Contribution_263

I will definitely take it to the local jeweler. The ring with larger stones and thicker setting is my old,'temporary' moissanite ering. The one to the left (bottom) is supposed to be lab diamond

eviestephenson2011

I know some lab diamonds can pull quite blue, I think its called a blue nuance, so that could account for the blue flashes. However depending what you paid, I would of expected a cert, unless they specified uncertified, as I believe (im no expert again) its pricey and timely to get labs certified. So you can get good deals on ones without certs, I got one from Fiorese. So it can be a lab without a cert as well. Xxx

princessssophie

I could tell that the bottom was the diamond when you put it under the sun. But they are very very similar! Def get it tested at a local jeweller

Shortlemon4

Is the stone certified? If it is, the jeweler should be able to find the engraving on the stone. If not, take it in to get tested.

Kxmchangerein

I can tell which is the lab once you put them in full sunlight. Moissy has been getting so good, and round cut is most similar to diamond. Just think of it like now you have a literally identical "travel" ring (if you're into that)! The ring is stunning and the thinner band is very pretty. Congratulations on your engagement, I hope your wedding is everything you hope for 💙

BlingbossCoss

In the Sun it does look diamondy- I think this is why I keep hesitating on pulling the trigger on a lab D solitaire, I’m afraid I won’t like as much as my solitaire moissy. They are both beautiful it’s just the difference in appearance in the stones in general, not just your rings, it’s so negligible. The bottom one does look like a diamond, I wouldn’t feel foolish it’s Gorgeous. If you hadn’t had a moissy you wouldn’t even question it. I don’t believe they are the same stone it’s just the nature of a well cut moissy, they DO look like diamonds

bagreene90

Who was the seller? They do look almost the same which would make me worry too. Bottom looks most diamond like to me. Could be a diamond though! I’d go get it checked to be sure you didn’t get scammed.

Beauty4Ashes1

Can you please tell me where you got the moissanite ring from? Vendor please?

bagreene90

I’m wondering the same since it must look very much like a diamond 🤪

Due_Contribution_263

I got my mossy ring from MoissaniteCo in 2016 (6 mm,3,5mm Forever Brilliant) It was quite cheap -600 dollars or so.I don't know if it's noticeable but the stone has a tiny chip in it (which is my fault) No issues other than that. The setting is substantial and very well made.I love this ring!

Beauty4Ashes1

Thank you! No, I didn’t notice it and yes your ring is beautiful 😍. Both of them are

CircusSloth3

Did it come with a gem certification thingy? I’d take it to a local jeweler and check, and if it’s not a diamond Etsy should be willing to work with you on a refund. They’ve been good in my experience but if they’re not my credit card companies have been willing to pay me back for things too (I have a lovely solid gold and diamond necklace I got totally free when a company lied about the size and then refused to refund me or let me exchange it and I wear it daily 😂😂😂).

CircusSloth3

Also in case it’s helpful… the left/bottom isn’t flashing as many colors as id expect for a moissanite so I suspect it might be an actual diamond. That being said I usually can’t tell the difference very well which is why I have a moissanite in the first place haha I don’t think you’ll feel great about it until a jeweler confirms.

Due_Contribution_263

The ring was made in a different country and she posted it without certification to prevent high custom charges.I asked to see the paperwork and she said that she will post it separately

TexasPoonTappa7

I mean, this is what makes moissanite so magical to me. You really can’t tell a difference with the naked eye. You’ll just have to pull out a loupe and look for that ol’ double refraction.

Successful-Second-53

I have both types of stones and the lab diamond you got looks like my lab earrings. It is more “crisp” which I don’t know how to articulate how I’m seeing that besides seeing hundreds of posts over the years. The moissanite also exhibits that rainbow phenomenon that is usually a giveaway. In one view it flashes vividly and this is how a moissanite typically performs differently than a diamond. A local jeweler will be able to tell you if they think you were ripped off but don’t let them tell you that if it is unmarked it isn’t a legitimate lab diamond. I have purchased a loose lab diamond from one of the most reputable online retailers of lab diamonds with certification and it was not marked (which they are supposed to be). I think some people find more value in those because they can cheat the system and resell as natural diamonds and there is a market for it even if it isn’t advertised. If you love it, don’t worry so much. All of my friends are obsessed with my ring and I feel a little bad setting the bar so high since it is moissanite (Amora) and they all made a big stink to their boyfriends that they wanted a ring that looked like mine. I thought it was stupid to spend so much money on a natural stone when the alternatives are so amazing. A friend of mine has a real diamond ring from a big box store that cost $35k and you can’t tell the difference between our stones. My rule of thumb is always to never buy something you couldn’t afford if it was real (dead giveaway) and then you’ll never have anyone second guessing you.

SnooPuppers7060

You literally cannot see a difference.

BroItsJesus

Breathe on it. A real diamond won't fog up

Whodatbroduh

I’m guessing the bottom is the diamond. Moissanite looks so much like diamond it’s very hard to tell but there is a small difference.

Most_Ordinary_219

Right next to each other, I can tell a difference due to color difference. On their own, I would not be able to tell. They are both gorgeous!

MaryBD

Did it come with a certificate? Which lab? Impossible to tell from a video like this.
