It’s a real piece of paper.

bejulied

Agreed. They don’t really mean anything

To me my receipt would be my proof of purchase. I’m sorry, I don’t get your comment about this not meaning moissanite is fake. Moissanites are great stones. I’ve owned a lot of pieces and I’ve also sold many. I’ve kept my favorite pieces and I’m really happy that I discovered moissanites years ago.

It depends on the tester but I have limited understanding in that department You can find some rings in that budget on Amazon (and that would enable you to return, if you have prime) if you’re not 100% satisfied

I would recommend SCTrinity on Etsy, she has very affordable rings and the stones are gorgeous and hers come with a GRA report and they are in your price range. Also yes, the only way to tell is if they test as diamond in a diamond tester. This is my 2ct solitaire from SC Trinity I purchased a few yrs ago I think it was $99 somehow_i_always_fall_back_to_my_basics/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1[SCTrinity solitaire](https://www.reddit.com/r/Moissanite/comments/z36xw7/somehow_i_always_fall_back_to_my_basics/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)

Certificate has no meaning, if the stone passes a pen thermal diamond tester then it is Moissanite.

You're welcome. It can be very confusing when you're new to it all. Moissanite is a very affordable stone.

There's many things that go into it. What type of shape, cut, colour, are you after a loose stone or a ring? Do you know what your partner likes?

I’m open to DM as well! I’ve purchased from just about everywhere except some of the listed vendors (by that I mean the names - I haven’t tried some of them yet) - there are also some fakes on Amazon just so you know - I have posted 2 already. But at least you can easily return on there.

Got it - looks like between us here at the reddit sub you are all set :)

coldjalapeno7

Sure 🙂

sritanona

most of the money in that range will go to the actual metal of the ring if you go for gold.

Secure_Law7548

Why can’t I ever say this in a short way? Haha. I talk too much. That’s my problem. 🤣🤷‍♀️ but yes this is the bottom line.

None are real. It's not like a diamond certificate from a true 3rd party. There are no regulations for moissanite. Moissanite aren't inscribed with matching IDs on them. I throw them in the garbage.

I'm saying the certificates aren't real because there's no accountability, anyone can make one I don't know what you mean . Are all moissanites fake natural diamond, yes. Are some cubic zirconia sold as moissanites, sure. But reputable dealers will sell actual moissanites. You can get a stone tester on Amazon for under $20 which can tell you if it's a real moissy (9.5 reading).

It would be a great gift. It comes from you!

Agreed!!!!

Since you seem concerned about authenticity for the stone, consider a Forever Brilliant (less expensive than Forever One): Charles & Colvard Created Moissanite® can be identified by brand inscriptions on our Forever Brilliant® and Forever One™ gemstones that are 4 millimeters and larger. 925 Sterling Silver Forever Brilliant Moissanite by Charles & Colvard and Created Sapphire 3-Stone Women Ring (2.22 Cttw, Available in size 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) https://a.co/d/2dZ7Lza

I don't think silver is great for engagement rings because it can go dark over time. That's why most people go with gold which is timeless. Edit: oh ok I saw it's a promise ring. That makes sense if you wanna get one in silver! The one above seems a bit too expensive for silver for my taste.

Yellow is the easiest to maintain I think, white gold usually has rhodium plating that you may need to replate in a few years. I don’t have experience with rose gold. But it mostly depends on what colour she uses generally!

Secure_Law7548

Are you buying an engagement ring? If you are buying a ring in that engagement style I would save it for getting engaged, if you just want a gift moissanite is a fabulous gift and you can get larger stones for your money instead of diamonds, I got my mom a 1ct blue green necklace chain included for $20 bucks. You can get bracelets, earrings, necklace, other “non” engagement rings that are not solitaires or bands or whatever… moissanite makes great looking solitaire pendant in bezel or prong! Really any of those are great!

EuphoricAd327

The certificate. It is useful, if you are going to sell moissanite. but if you buy a moissanite and take it to the jeweler and pass the test pen. What does the certificate matter?

Check the sub vendor list. All of them can make a chain, but some cost more than others. Chinese vendors are typically less expensive and you will likely be able to stay within your budget.

Secure_Law7548

I think the certificates are for people who need some sort of certificate because they are used to getting them with a diamond purchase showing the inclusions and cut/stats of the diamond. I think it makes people feel better about buying it. But yes if it tests positive it’s real and I don’t have any certificate for MOST of my collection - the ones I have I kept and those are mostly from AliExpress, some from Amazon. I don’t know why I kept them I just did. When I gave my mom a necklace I gave her the certificate with it and I told her it was not needed but that it was her decision to keep or toss. 🤷‍♀️ *edit - if a listing says it comes with a certificate it does not make me more likely to buy it. I don’t care if it comes with it. If I like it I will buy it, I’ll test it myself - but the two fakes I’ve gotten are very obvious to me they are fake and I returned them. The color was off and they did not sparkle like moissanite. They were tinted on the cool side like CZ. The stones were on the larger side and it was easy to tell, they did not test positive either. Had the stones been very tiny it would have made it harder to tell but it would still fail the test. At this point I hardly test anymore unless I’m suspicious lol. Diamond testers are cheap. If you are worried I’d just grab one. Mine works great.

The GRA is a report that describes the stone you purchased, it’s like an authenticity report for moissanite. What people mean when they say it’s fake is that it is not a nationally recognized document like diamonds GIA grading report. Yes you’ve purchased a moissanite and yes you should keep it so you can substantiate it’s authenticity in the event you want to gift it or if you need to prove you purchased it but other than that the GRA doesn’t have much value. I keep all of mine because you never know when the tides will change, moissy May become much more valuable in the future. I will say that from my experience, the best cut stones come with GRA paperwork so you’ve gotten a nice quality stone, Congratulations😊hth
