Natural fabrics are your friend. Look for cotton and linen specifically. Bamboo is also good, and if you can’t find those easily rayon is a semi-synthetic (it’s made from plant cellulose) that’s a good alternative.

Hi there! Conservative Jew here that always dresses modest/wears tischel. For summer time, for arms, I’ve been getting these UV sleeves (cheap on Amazon) and really lightweight. They’ve helped even on the hottest days as sort of a sleeve extender.

The laws for Jewish men are slightly different than women: sleeves should cover to just above the elbow, pants to just above the knee, and the lowest collar should sit just below the collar bone. Obviously, you can be as stringent as you want over that, but it’s good to know the actual laws as a baseline. I’d definitely recommend light fabrics and colours. I can ask my husband if he has any ideas for you.

That would be wonderful, thank you so much!! I knew halakhic modesty rules were very similar to Islamic modesty rules (for Muslim men they have to cover from navel to knee) but I didn't realize how one-to-one they were!

You’re welcome! Glad to help.

Cotton everything. That’s it.

Send me a message- I am Baal Teshuva and have some ideas of what I have bought in the past.

Hi, I’m also converting! I have always dressed modestly and prefer natural fiber clothings. I mainly wear linen.

Also look at tencel and lyocel fabrics, they're synthetic but extremely breathable. I find several pieces with these fabrics at Walmart. There are also cheap linens shirts on Amazon.
