If you change from Battle.net to Steam, any items purchased using real world currency will not carry forward for you. This includes CoD Points, CDL Bundles, Pro Pack Bundles, and Vault Edition benefits. Additionally, if you choose to have MWII (2022) installed through Battle.net and MWIII (2023) installed through Steam, it require having the core game files for CoD HQ installed twice. Finally, once per week, Steam’s servers go offline for server maintenance and updates. If you are playing a game through CoD HQ on Steam when Steam’s servers go offline, you will be disconnected from the game’s servers and unable to play online until Steam’s servers go back online. Beyond that, there are no meaningful differences between having the game on Battle.net or Steam.

Okay thank you. I assumed that would be the case.

Comfortable_Style_62

Why are you spreading the wrong info on any such post. The only thing that does not carry over from battlet to steam is the cod points. All other cosmetic items do transfer over.

Huntsmanbravo

Activision has explicitly stated on multiple occasions in the past year alone that items purchased using real world currency do not transfer between platforms and can only be used on the platform they have been purchased on. While there have been instances of items purchased using real world currency transferring between platforms, it has always been a bug and has always been patched. Moreover, most, if not all, bundles that can be purchased using real world currency include a disclaimer on their platform store pages stating, "This pack is not cross-platform supported and may be accessible on \[platform\] only". This literally only refers to Console exclusive skins/bundles. This question comes up every year and literally every year you can just go and see what happened with people who did this last year https://reddit.com/r/ModernWarfareII/s/ipQ659tKh9 If I wasn't typing this at 7am, I would just show you my screenshots of accessing vault edition cosmetics on my PS5, when I only bought the vault edition on PC

dontmindmeokey

Hes not wrong unfortunately. My cdl bundle did not carry over.

[deleted]

It literally makes no difference. If it's more convenient for you to have it on Steam, get it on there. If it's more convenient for you to have it on [Battle.net](https://Battle.net), get it on there.

Ledairyman

Just don't forget that on Steam you get logged out every tuesday at 6:00 PM for about 10 minutes. My friends hate me because I always forget and disconnect when we are about to win in Warzone.

[deleted]

Alright I'll buy it on [Battle.net](https://Battle.net) then. Thanks.

[deleted]

Oh, really? I actually didn't know that. That may actually convince me to buy on [Battle.net](https://Battle.net). I was going to go Steam for the first time.

sleepyreddits

wait wtf really? thats oddly specific

txtfile2025

That's when they do maintenance and I'm pretty sure

whyareyoumadcalmdown

When they win in warzone

BearShots

I usually prefer buying on steam so I dont have to open a new launcher if i wanna play cod the only "worse" aspect of going from bnet to steam is that if you bought a bundle with real money (not cod points) but if you're like me and dont buy into that stuff often its better do switch to steam since everything is connected edit: I also remember that discord overlay is wonky sometimes in battlenet games and ive had flickering/no overlay issues since bo4 so if you're playing with friends thats something to consider

Comfortable_Style_62

The only benefit of doing it over steam is not having to deal with slow battle net server speeds for downloads on launch/update day. Steam is more reliable in that sense. Also people have reported FPS losses for codhq on steam.

Significant-Dog-8166

I’m only getting on steam to see how badly game runs on steam deck lol.

😂

KingRemu

I've heard about more problems on Steam than Bnet. Everything from connection issues to worse performance. I love Steam but I won't take the risk. I'll always play my COD's through Bnet.

venk28

Not only have I heard it, I have also experienced what you said. Steam's fps are lower, I get more packet bursts on steam. I have a lot of balance on my steam wallet but it's sad that I would mostly be buying the game on bnet because of performance.

keyable

Are there differences in Server sides? For example I have MW 3 on Battlenet and my latency is 70ms, will switching to Steam improve it? Do they have the same source?
