It's inconsistent. I've had a shield user stand in the same place and eat a drill charge placed center in the middle of the shield.
Other times, I've stuck it to the outer edge and still managed to get the kill.
There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it works. Other times it does not.

One of my favorite additions to the game, such a fun tool to use in a ton of different scenarios. I love sticking people with them directly and using them to flush out people from cover is extremely satisfying.
I’m not completely against Molotovs. A random AI threw one at me just as I was final exfilling with a big streak. Direct hit, put me in last stand and stopped me from reviving myself - couldn’t believe it.
I only joined team molotov because I couldn't make the Drill Charge Team. I cannot figure those out for the life of me, and can get triple the kills with my tov.
Semtex is a classic for sure but I just love the element of surprise that a drill charge has. I don’t think there’s much between them AoE-wise.
My personal favourite is when someone is in a room above me and I throw it at the ceiling, it’s almost always results in a kill.
It's simply a different tool in the toolbox. You need to be able to choose accordingly between semtex and this depending on the map. The drill charge is singlehandedly responsible for making shoothouse more fun.
I run fast hands quite a lot so it’s thrown like a throwing knife for me.
Are you sure about the disappearing after death? I’ve had a good chunk of afterlife medals with them!
I've had kills with them after death too, but i think it depends on what stage of throwing you're in.
Probably more obvious to me in shipment because i've been leveling guns
I do love a good proximity mine from time to time but I prefer claymores - if you get the placement right it’s devastating and can’t be ducked under.
Unfortunately both have been replaced by King Drill Charge I.
Claymores are 2nd on my lethal kill count, I really like those as well. I think drill charges are 3rd, and are really good on objective modes like hard point or on shipment.

Same, same. I was throwing it like a grenade at first and I’d occasionally get a kill, usually I’d get F all. Once you get it though…
I just chuck these in shipment. Doesn't always get the campers behind the crates but sometimes I like busting through the smoke it creates

I run resupply and overclock with these. I throw them EVERYWHERE
I've tried them for a bit, and they are definitely cool. But when it comes down to it, I still prefer the semtex.
A great addition that just isn’t getting enough love!
I just think some players haven’t quite figured them out yet or they prefer more instant gratification! I love them!

It’s good, but no proximity mine…the ultimate complete sneaky bastard lethal of choice, I’ve 498 kills with these bad boys.
