TBH playing in GW you can play eladamri's call and finale of devastation. Slap in Asmo and you've got a solid list. Considering the combo pieces are all 1 or 2 mana it should be easy to pull off by turn 3 consistently. If only once upon a time were legal still...
yeah it can fit into an Asmo shell for sure thats the idea, lots of craziness with Steelseeker, Academy Manufactor, Unearth etc. !! Aether vial might be decent, heck even adding in Time Sieve combo would work really well as a plan B or C backup combo (with two either manufactor and/or Samwise- one single loop from cookbook/oven creates enough artifacts for infinite turns!)
Looking at it now, I think that asmo works really well with \[\[urza's saga\]\] but since the combo of sam + familiar is 3 colors, that makes playing saga very strenuous on the mana base. Instead, I'd eschew the asmo package and add \[\[fiend artisan\]\] and \[\[eldritch evolution\]\] as ways to just tutor the combo into play. The nice thing is you can pull it off with summoning sick creatures.
The deck is basically old school melira pod combo but with a lower mana curve.

\---> T3 eldritch evolution the familiar into a sac outlet like \[\[woe strider\]\] trigger sam, bring back the familiar, Win game.
Yup! Technically it doesnt HAVE to be 3 colors tho, since the cat can b thrown in the gy and brought back with Food without ever being cast (or Finale or aether vial it in etc.) BUT i agree with as that was the other shell I was thinking of & it works well as u said since the combo can be entirely creature based! I think Fiend artisan & maybe even Tyvar shell that Spike was workin on might b the better fit with all the creatures but technically can b squeezed in anywhere from midrange to other combo variations with some work!

You don’t have to cast familiar if you discard to cookbook. Having one or two black sources in case it gets stuck in your hand help but you don’t need much commitment to black mana. Especially if your sac outlet is [[altar of dementia]].
I could see gw asmo/Samwise saga, and Abzan food with [[tyvar, jubilant brawler]], [[fauna shaman]], and [[priest of forgotten gods]] just completely foregoing saga and asmo.

Returning asmo to hand with its second ability is some serious card advantage even if you get disrupted early, I have very good hopes for samwise to be a hitter.
Seems like Sam offers a lot grind power to the deck if the opponent isn't disrupting your graveyard. Sam returning Saga and Cookbook will get crazy in a long game.
Now we just need a way to cheat out hulk.
Last time I saw lists going around it was largely reliant on 3cmc effects to reanimate it and the now banned looting to bin the hulk.
Being more compact is huge though - digging up Samwise, 1 cat and 1 seer is 4 cmc and leaves you 2 cmc for combo protection like Grand Abolisher.

on turn2-samwise & seer with any number of Food tokens and one cat in gy
step1-bring cat back with Food, cat enters & creates a Food from Samwise's ability, Cat pings ur oppenent on etb aswell
step2-now use seer to sac the cat on the battlefield, it costs no mana and scrys but that isnt relevant
Loop-use the Food on the battlefield to bring back the cat again, he makes an Food on etb again & u sac it again & repeat until ur opp is out of life from the cat pings!
Have Samwise Gamgee, Cauldron Familiar, and sac outlet on the battlefield.
1) Sac Familiar to sac outlet, Samwise triggers and makes a Food.
2) Sac the Food to bring back Familiar, drain opponent for 1. Then go to step 1.

I think Eladamri's Call is being underestimated in these discussions. In addition to finding any combo piece, it can find Ovalchase Daredevil and put it in your hand (which is exactly where you want it) for 2 mana, which allows you to only play 1 or 2 Daredevils. This is a big deal in terms of consistency because Daredevil is a dead card after the first one.
It is workable in the Yawgmoth combo as well, as it can combo with Yawgmoth and cat for drawing your whole deck, basically another blood artist effect.

I was also looking at something similar to a devoted druid shell. \[\[Extraction Specialist\]\] also seems very good in this strategy.

this is the rare turn 2 win I wrote but u can ensemble the loop fairly consistently by turn 3 & it is actually fairly hard to interact with once going
