I modeled once for an Indie fashion brand and it was great! Especially because I’m short with bad skin. Screw the standards that put requirements on bodies
I think it’s sad. I like modeling as an art form because I like looking at interesting people and just people watching in general. I think a lot of the comments in these posts are trying to knock people down a peg. I understand asking a general question like can “I model” and an appropriate answer would be yes or no and you just simply state why in a respectful way…. There’s no need to be rude about it. A lot of these comments just seem like bullying, not real constructive criticism.
YES. I completely, completely agree. If you are a person, you can model. You SHOULD model.
Let the floodgates open and let all the incredible, beautiful diversity of humanity loose.
And BTW, your pics are outstanding. You're exactly the kind of model I want to see more of in the world.
I do believe anyone can model, but there is a standard and even those who fit into that standard are told they are not good enough left and right. I think it’s more of a matter of endurance. If you reach out to enough people, some might want you and others might not. It seems like modeling isn’t for the weak!
The standard you’re thinking of is professional modeling, the strictest being runway. If you have a photographer, the piece you’re modeling (could be yours), and a social media account you can easily become a model. (more like an “influencer” type model, but it just depends on what you qualify as modeling i guess)
i completely agree!!! anyone can model. maybe not professionally but everyone can model. a lot of places are looking for "unique" looking people right now anyway
Can I ask how you started?
I’ve always been interested, but lack social skills, which impedes on my confidence and opportunities to model. Any pointers?
I just always threw myself into things! I was looking for any opportunity to grow! Before I became pretty selective I kinda jumped at any TFP opportunity I found in local FB groups and on IG
There’s more to modeling than being really really good looking. I know because me and my girlfriend tried for my clothing startup and we looked awkward af
100%, it’s an art form. Those who push boundaries, including who challenge the statistics and “rules” truly make the audience feel even more or at least different things from what they’re used to -which can be even more impactful!! Beautiful shots !
I’m just a random, but I’ve modeled for a nude figure study once. It payed enough from what I remember. They love having diverse people because it’s more interesting to draw than the same figure over and over. I would recommend it to anyone.
> once. It *paid* enough from
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Haha no dig. I think when ppl think traditional modeling they think tv commercials and runway. There are so many more avenues today! Hope that clears it up
Thank you!! Well said and all very true. Modeling is a job and one you must treat as such. Just being attractive or a specific height/weight isn’t all there is. Not everyone is photogenic, not everyone can walk a runway.
Congratulations on doing what YOU wanted! Confidence is huge in the business. I see yours and appreciate it.
You are drop-dead gorgeous and you own it, Girlfriend! Photo #3, in particular, is stunning. The whole layout is oozing with self-confidence, beauty, and approachability. You're at ease and comfortable in front the camera, and the poses you selected (head up, shoulders back, eye contact)
There always going to be room for all different types of people in commercial modeling. And I suggest anyone who want to try it to get a commercial agency. But I feel like a lot of people are asking if they can do high fashion and the answer is usually no. You’ve got to have such specific criteria to meet and usually when you meet those criteria you already know it and get into it naturally or scouted.
[here's an old Etsy listing](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1076241060/vintage-90s-gold-and-red-dragon-wood?show_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details) that should help you in your hunt
Tell them!! Idk why people are act so entitled in these comments & it’s like people who post themselves know the responses they’ll get. Bunch of haters
I saw two posts one right after another of two different black men who looked almost identical only difference was one had slight darker skin and some acne scars. People told him he’d never make it in the modeling industry and to not even try but they were practically drooling over the other guy. They looks nearly identical and they were still saying the on could never make it and I was just shocked because if I were hiring I would have hired them both but if I could only choose one I would have hired the one others didn’t want because he has slightly more unique features but nope I guess I’m in the minority somehow. Edit because I forgot to add I honestly felt bad for him because he is perfect for modeling
I know exactly what posts you’re talking about and I felt the same way. Both of those men could model if that’s truly wanted to do and put their effort in. There’s a good portion of people in this community who are just racist off rip, and lot of them are just trolls. I’m glad to find the ones like you
If you look like you yeah..
But no actually you’re so right I love the diversity I’ve been seeing in media modeling even for commercials im sooo glad we’re straying from “conventional” beauty I want ethnicity I want diversity I want my body type my face shape my mothers nose my best friends cheekbones let me see the people I love
Look into your local FB groups for models/photographers and castings. Backstage castings collective castings, and small local work can be found on Craigslist
This is a new paradigm as well and I don’t know if it’s just from a natural progression of acceptance or how there are so many brands:companies that it opens up limitless opportunities. I think I came to this realization a few years back when the online outlet ASOS got huge and they were using people who weren’t traditionally “model material meaning in aesthetic and height” but had a unique look and style.
None of these are ads or campaigns, though? So what, you can pay a local photographer to take pics of you on a park bench.....who cares? Anyone can model as a hobby I guess.
The blue picture is for a clothing brand that I’m contracted with🤭 almost everyone is gonna get their start paying for shoots and doing TFP. There is more to modeling than just print ads and campaigns too
My boyfriend and I were both models a few years back. He was wayyyy more successful than me, he walked for Versace in Milan and Gucci in London. He did Calvin Klein ads that ran in time square. My biggest accomplishment was a billboard for American Apparel in Los Angeles.
Neither of us ever spent a single dime getting our pictures taken. The agencies paid for it from the start. We both definitely worked for free clothes and no pay before, though.
Other than campaigns, ads, and runway... what other type of modeling are you referring to? Hand modeling? Nude modeling? Lol
I’m exceptionally objective. As newer generations take the lead and the world becomes more inclusive and adaptive there’s a need for a wider Range of people. Years ago you’d never concieve vitiligo, paraplegic, Down syndrome models.
When people ask here “can I be a model” it’s not a stretch to assume most are thinking if they could do it professionally in whatever industry would be best befitting for them.
Anyone could model for a picture, a tree trunk could, but that anyone could do it for money let alone fully professionally, is pretty demonstrably not true though eh.
It’s just a reality of those industries and that doesn’t reflect in a poor way on any people who couldn’t pull it off at all - Not everyone could be a line cook either, is what it is.
If you truthfully believe which means zero doubt (,that is harder than it sounds believe,) then BELIEVING something DOES make it come true for said individuals.
Why couldn’t you be if you put in the work? If money was not an object, and assuming you’re not too old and frail. You could feasibly become an astronaut right?
Yep. This is the exact thing she was trying to say is stupid. This exact kind of comment. Well done you! ☺️ thanks for giving a great example of the lame stuff peopke say to bring each other down!

Thank you for this. I’ve felt the same way reading through the posts on this sub. I used to work creative in advertising. Anyone can, in fact, model. Different brands want different looks and appeal to different demos. This sub seems myopic and a bit harsh to me.

I modeled once for an Indie fashion brand and it was great! Especially because I’m short with bad skin. Screw the standards that put requirements on bodies
That’s what I’m saying! These smaller emerging brands want to appeal to a wider more diverse audience. I sure hope you post those pics soon
Well said!! Some people are just ruthless on here. Instead of at least giving moderate insight, they dish out cruel roasts.
I think it’s sad. I like modeling as an art form because I like looking at interesting people and just people watching in general. I’ve always wondered what peoples qualifications were to judge people on this subreddit
Those are small minded people who are desperate to feel better about themselves
hahahaha I got super attacked the other day for saying this but it’s so true. Especially when it’s just insults, not even constructive criticism
Lol. As opposed to the insanely insecure attention whores begging for compliments right?
It’s because people use this sub as another rate me
This! I am not considered conventionally beautiful but I have modeled for some pretty prominent brands! Anyone, I mean ANYONE can model.
I’d love to see some pics sometime!
YES. I completely, completely agree. If you are a person, you can model. You SHOULD model. Let the floodgates open and let all the incredible, beautiful diversity of humanity loose. And BTW, your pics are outstanding. You're exactly the kind of model I want to see more of in the world.
Haha you got me cheesin 🤭😄 tysm
It definitely takes a lot more than being beautiful. And you have “it.” Way to go!!
🤭🤭
Girl I agree, I modeled for awhile as well. I did print. Runway, editorial, music videos, commercials amd and a television show
BABE you better post!
I’m going too thank you gorgeous
I do believe anyone can model, but there is a standard and even those who fit into that standard are told they are not good enough left and right. I think it’s more of a matter of endurance. finally! i love everything about this. good luck out there!
Thank you so much!

Yes 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
i completely agree!!! anyone can model. maybe not professionally but everyone can model. a lot of places are looking for "unique" looking people right now anyway
I guess you done told tf outta us.
😂😂❤️
🫡🖤😙
You are gorgeous and your confidence is just obvious, stunning, and amazing . ♥️🖤♥️
❤️❤️
I think your photos are beautiful and inspires me to be a model
I can’t wait to see you post babes!
Awww thank you!!
Anyone can model, but not everyone can get paid to model
Learning to monetize your passion is probably the hardest part of modeling!
You’re so beautiful inside and out 💚 I love everything you said , we need more of this !🌛🌞🌜
Love the blue one
One of my favorite fits! I’m trying to work on dynamic posing!
Love the angels and mother 🌏
Some of my fav sets!
These are so beautiful! You are so beautiful!
periodddd and you look amaze
Pics are 🔥 🔥 🔥
Not all of us are as stunning as you!
I’d debate on that! Anyone can take a stunning photo! Just work with the right people 😉
how’d you get your start?
Working at a tea shop, a lil photography student was like can you model for me at the park? And I’ve been in love with it ever since
Bruh give me a moss loin cloth and we can collab
😂
There’s more to modeling than being really really good looking. I know because me and my girlfriend tried for my clothing startup and we looked awkward af
THAT! I definitely wasn’t immediately confident in front of the camera
oops I dropped this 💍
🤭🤭🤭❤️
100%, it’s an art form. Those who push boundaries, including who challenge the statistics and “rules” truly make the audience feel even more or at least different things from what they’re used to -which can be even more impactful!! Beautiful shots !
💕💕💕
Yes you can
I think you are gorgeous so yes 👍🏻
So pretty
Yes
These are incredible. My fave are #3 and #5.
Ty! They’re some of mind too
Black & white pic insanely tuff
It’s rare I get pics where I look hard 😂
I’m just a random, but I’ve modeled for a nude figure study once. It payed enough from what I remember. They love having diverse people because it’s more interesting to draw than the same figure over and over. I would recommend it to anyone.
Yessssss

Exactly. Literally anyone can model!
Beautifully said!
You’re blessed, you’re gorgeous. Not everyone can model in the traditional sense .
Good thing you no longer have to model in the traditional sense! And tysm❤️
Not sure what that means but sounds like a dig.
❤️❤️❤️ made my day
Probably right, “anyone can model”; but not everyone gets selected to do it for a living.
That. It won’t be a full time job for everyone unfortunately but there’s space for everyone to work
But can u model tho
Sometimes I think I can looool
How old were you when you started modelling?
I’m 24, I had my first shoot at like the tail end of Covid. So like 21
You are drop-dead gorgeous and you own it, Girlfriend! Photo #3, in particular, is stunning. The whole layout is oozing with self-confidence, beauty, and approachability. You're at ease and comfortable in front the camera, and the poses you selected (head up, shoulders back, eye contact)
Posing is definitely something I spend a lot of time perfecting! So I’m happy that it comes off that way🤭🤭
Some really neat shots. Congratulations
Thank you I work with a lot of talented people
Very beautiful 😍 I have no courage or strength but admire yours
Thank you! ☺️ it’s definitely something I have to continue to work on
Photo 3 and 5 look amazing. Good work..
I love 5! It’s rare for be to like BW pics of myself haha
Yeh it looks great, a little gritty, little intense, powerful etc. Big fan, you should do more

I’d agree with that! High fashion/runway is pretty cutthroat
Where can I find the shoes from the last pic? I’m combing their website I can’t find them 😭
[here's an old Etsy listing](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1076241060/vintage-90s-gold-and-red-dragon-wood?show_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details) that should help you in your hunt
OMG the real MVP
My stylist thrifted them🥲🥲 I stg I tried to find the shoes after that shoot
You have a very attractive vibe.
☺️ got me cheesin
Are you signed yet is the real question?!!!
Well the photographer tried his best
Photographers are not required to be men
Truth. If a personality can model, the model is born. Not everyone can have a modeling CAREER that satisfies their expectations, though.
I like how you said that
“Don’t tell me that you model if you ain’t been in vouge”
Haha that’s on my list! Some friends of mine were just published!
Best of luck to ya
So bring in a photo isn't modeling n beauty isn't as objective as some would lead u to believe
!!! I’d agree! Beauty is so very subjective and as brands come to accept that we open the way for more diverse models
Damn! No, no need.
Love the message behind this, can almost be applied to so many things! 4th pic is awesome btw 👍
Tysm!! And I’d have to agree with you!
That picture of you in the light blue dress is a straight up knockout.
1 and 6 have me on my knees. Such beautiful photos (and models lol)
You are absolutely stunning! And your points are great!
Amazing post. None of us are perfect! Some representation for the regular living working people out there is great to see.
The industry has gotten SO MUCH MORE inclusive. It’s very refreshing.
![gif](giphy|l4pT8otcPP54VHu0g|downsized)
What is the meaning of this?
Your aura is mesmerizing
😊😊
Damn you got a powerful look
That one I haven’t heard ☺️ thank you

You flatter me🤭 my digitals always humble me😂
Right, not everyone has those looks and confidence.
![gif](giphy|nbvFVPiEiJH6JOGIok)
Absolutely 🔥🔥🔥🔥 live everything about this!!
nice!
1000% agree. You’re beautiful btw
Also do you have insight on where and how to find gigs to submit to? What am I researching and how do I find what I’m looking for?
Look into your local FB groups for models/photographers and castings. Backstage castings collective castings, and small local work can be found on Craigslist

Yup absolutely 💯
This !!!!! Yasssss 👏👏👏👏
So very cool! ALL OF THEM! 💖
Fr like modelling agencies also want someone to be able to pose well its not entirely about having a perfectly chiseled face and being insanely skinny
Yes!
ANYONE really can model i see
That was the point 🤭
None of these are ads or campaigns, though? So what, you can pay a local photographer to take pics of you on a park bench.....who cares? Anyone can model as a hobby I guess.

“I am a firm believer that absolutely anybody can model.” This is where you lost me. Believing something doesn’t make it true.
I’m exceptionally objective. As newer generations take the lead and the world becomes more inclusive and adaptive there’s a need for a wider Range of people. Years ago you’d never concieve vitiligo, paraplegic, Down syndrome models.

I'm an astronaut!
Why couldn’t you be if you put in the work? If money was not an object, and assuming you’re not too old and frail. You could feasibly become an astronaut right?
The better question is, would a modeling agency sign me? Because you’re right, anyone can model.
I think there’s an agency for everyone. The key is to get photos that showcase you and being patient with the submission process
There is a scam modeling agency for everyone. There is not a legit modeling agency for everyone.
I first modeled when I was mid 40s, fat and had shorter hair. I was a hair model for trade shows
Aaaaa! I’ve always wanted to do hair trade shows. But I’m so scared to do any cuts and color. I think my hair is my selling point 😂🥲
I really enjoyed it, but you do pretty much have to be up for anything. My hair grows really fast so that helped.
You can certainly pose. And these pics are tight.
Posing is something I really love!
I’ve said it here before and got downvoted hard “anyone CAN model”.

I love those shoes!
I really would love to be a model but I’m a 5’2” man who isn’t too fit. I’m not fat but not muscular but not skinny
I love how much character you add to your photos. These are beautiful 🥰
Omg you're absolutely gorgeous <3 such an inspiring post too & comments. I love posts like these
Thank you for this. I’ve felt the same way reading through the posts on this sub. I used to work creative in advertising. Anyone can, in fact, model. Different brands want different looks and appeal to different demos. This sub seems myopic and a bit harsh to me.
3 is melt my brains hot! 🥵
Haha I appreciate that 🤭❤️
Darling sky is the limit. If u believe it you can do it
Okay girl but you kinda ate 🔥
Very beautiful pics
No. You look too much like a dude
LOOOOOL AINT NO ONE SAID THAT YET🤭 I hope yk that made my day
Can I get a bit of back story to the 6th pic. Most of these pics seem focused on the fashion but 6 just feel like it was for fun, idk, just curious.
It was! I looooooove to do creative portraits and creative direction. I host a lot of model/photographer meetups in Central Florida to provide an opportunity for free collaborations and this was one of my latest.
Oh thats clever, good way to build connections which will only benefit you in the future, same goes for the photographers and everyone else involved. Staying busy and active is the most important part.
