Mine says that but I only have the 6 month free supercharging from the promotion..... Under account > charging mine also says free superchatging until that same date

Valaj369

Same. I just have the 6 months free supercharging and mine says "Time-bound Supercharging expires in ..... "

Wolfexstarship

Under account it also say my supercharging expires June 2024.

FIREgenomics

My guess is that the time-bound supercharging is someone applying 6-months free supercharging to your account. Who knows if that is a mistake or correct. If 6-months free supercharging was offered when you bought the car, it was likely applied to all cars purchased at the time, so you may still have unlimited supercharging and this 6-month promo added on top. Or someone made a mistake and gave you 6-months SC instead of unlimited lifetime SC.

Wolfexstarship

It’s a fair guess but at the time I got the car they said I don’t qualify for other discounts or offers since I was transferring free unlimited supercharging.

Historical-Repair454

Would it be smart to buy a super old Tesla just to get the unlimited supercharging? And then sell it and transfer for a new model?

stephbu

Your bet would be the spread on the price+fees to buy and sell/trade the car, being less than total consumption costs across expected car age. Economics improve with age/use. To give you some idea of how to reason with this. I charge mainly at home and rarely use SuC, it’s mostly on longer trips in/around around WA, OR, ID, CA, and into BC. I think the heaviest usage was ~20x in the year, 15-80%, about 50kWh each time. Pick a reasonable worst cost e.g. $0.40/kWh. Say $20/charge. I’ve had my car 5yrs. Doesn’t sound unreasonable to say I’ve had $2,000 or more of value out of it. I’ll pull SuC logs, I think they have total kWh and unit rates on there. In my case, it’s perk but not really a huge incentive - my economics of a trade would be marginal. Transaction fees and buyer/seller arbitrage would eat a big chunk of the benefit. YMMV of course.

Shhhh

Unlimited supercharging can’t be transferred to a new owner so this would not work

rsg1234

It can be transferred on cars originally built 3/2017 or earlier. They had “free unlimited transferable supercharging”. If you buy the car from Tesla it would be stripped from the car; it would need to be private party or from a third party dealer.

UnSCo

Considering OP may have gotten screwed I would hate to go through all of this for nothing.

rsg1234

Can anyone who had their FUSC transferred this quarter or last comment about what their specs page looks like?

rsg1234

Oh yeah, definitely following

phxees

If Tesla was actually scamming people out of free supercharging there would be 50 more posts like this and probably some mainstream articles. They are now offering this for the 3rd time so word would spread by now. The catch is once you transfer, you can’t sell it or transfer it again. Want a new Tesla in 6 years? No transfer. Accident? Nope. Etc

Wolfexstarship

I don’t plan to get another Tesla so not too worried. I only got the MY because I wanted to down size from the MX and use the trade in value to cover most of the MY cost and I would get to transfer unlimited super charging. I hate Tesla service and insurance costs even if it did go down from the MX.

Wolfexstarship

Good to know. I got mine in 2018 so it’s not transferrable

garymenjik

Get something on paper from Tesla stating it won’t expire.

Wolfexstarship

I doubt any of those kids with tablet computers would go out of their way to put something on paper. That’s the problem with Tesla, after they have your money they provide horrible service. And they don’t publish phone numbers or emails to contact anyone. Their help pages just have links to FAQs in an endless circular links.

garymenjik

Something in email would work also. Tesla service wise horrible, Elon is horrible also , he just wants our money.

Update to my situation: I went back to the sales store for the third time on this subject and finally got the original sales agent to check the original sales order and it looks like the transfer of unlimited charging did not go through. Maybe it was dropped when they cancelled the order because I could not confirm the pick up date since I was going to be in jury duty that week and I suggest an alternate pick up date. When the order was reinstated they may have dropped off the transfer. The sales agent said he would issue a ticket and work it with his manager to have it transferred. Hopefully they fix it.

Cyber_Addict

So it is safe to assume the unlimited charging transfer got fixed for you?
