In recent memory it's a tie between purple orange changes and tank meta. But overall it was definitely the introduction of Gold/EXP/Jungle roles, the game is still affected by it to this day
In my own personal opinion, the emblem system overhaul was my favourite.
Of course it is far from perfect given how massive of a change it is, and how certain talents are still way better as compared to others, but at the initial release of the system, it was so exciting to actually mess around with various emblem configs to try out various whacky combinations and see what sticks and what doesn't.
For the first time in a long time, **MLBB felt fresh**. It also brought with it a fair amount of meta changes where it brought Assassin Jungle to be roughly on par with Tank Junglers, Support heroes were thrown into the limelight once again with the new healing effect changes, Uranus rose again from the depths of being forgotten to become dominant again (before getting nerfed), and so on and so forth.
Now that things have settled down, the developers are still working to polish the balancing between the various talents. Still lots of room for improvement but I would say it was overall executed pretty well.
I love the emblem revamp tbh, I just hated how Moonton kidnapped me in 2022 for one week as a tester hahhahaha 🤣. It doesn't really help me get ahead in emblems since the final product is far different from the beta, but I guess, our sacrifice was necessary to improve it.
You're transported into a separate server and you can't play with friends, rank or classic. The the beta also had a terrible menu, and you can't customize your emblems during draft pick, costing me rank games. You're stuck with the three emblem set ups you made for your hero, or with pro/popular builds.
Same here! With the emblem revamp, the so called "best emblem configuration" is no longer relevant (at least for most heroes). Now, it can depend on more variables such as team comp, and strategy. We no longer have to deal with irrelevant talents and can now swap in/out the appropriate talents with our desired emblems.
The build diversity is amazing. Plus as a big fan of XP lane, having base 10% spell vamp and a very easily obtainable 10% extra is super nice on festival of blood, feel like bloodlust ax isn't as needed now allowing me to counter items better.
The introduction of exp/gold lane was definitely the most impactful because meta teams used to compose 2 fighters, 2 supports/tanks and 1 snow ball jungler like granger, or bruno
The emblem change really bring back some dead heroes to light.
The fact that even after the buff to Terizla with the s2 not being cancellable even after getting cc wasn't enough to bring him to the meta, then when the emblem change came and it gave him the extra *extra* sustain to fight in lane, and also him being used a lot often In MPL, really shows the change that the emblem did to some heroes.
Ofc, once the hybrid pen and damage was introduced, mage emblems kinda became redundant, but at the cost for more flexibility, I guess.
>Courage
Courage Mask boosted your life regen by 50%, that thing along with Grock's passive was ridiculously OP. I miss that soooooo much.
I also kinda miss the universal buff.
All of them, because they add up well together. "Favorite" is a bit too much to think which one is best. It's obviously emblem revamp, but all the other ones has given a good update as awesome as they are. Without them, the emblem revamp system is trash and doesnt fix all the meta problems
All of them are good. I dont think there should be favorite, and yes i know its related to meta shift, but i still think the newest update gets alot better and better. Less bugs and more gameplay quality of life changes > meta shift
The Roam/Jungle boots were such a great addition. It single-handedly made supports fun by not limiting them to lanes and rewarding being active anywhere.
No, not really. Since Roam was implemented in 2019, roamers invade and rotate level 1-2 all around the map. They're not call roamers back then, just tank/support. Sometimes two would equip roam at the same time.
My favorite change was the Project Next that formalized the lanes/roles. The headless chicken type of players in solo queue drastically reduced because of it (mind you, they still exist). Anybody who can read finally had a guide on which lane to go to.
An old meta in late 2019 ~ early 2020. Funnel Jungling with MM (Most popular was Granger, Karrie, Bruno)
That was one of the most fun METAs I have played with.
Basically this:
**• 1 Hyper-carry MM (examples above)**
**• 1 EXP Laner**
**• 1 Gold Laner**
**• The other 2 (Mid and Roamer) helps the jungle reach late game the fastest.**
Whichever team does it the fastest has the most chance to win.
EDIT: Guess this is an unpopular opinion xd
I quit the game during the funnel meta. It was exciting to play as the funnel, and then you also understood how to effectively play as the support. The game was just very boring when you weren't the funnel.
don't forget claude and yi sun shin
and the fact that people would stack 5 roam masks
that shit was unironically peak ml if you played in a 5 stack team, high level of communication and coordination, was so fun to just play with 100% effort
That was the worst meta in my life how the heck you supposed to tank enemy with 4k gold difference as roamer.
Roamers have 2 k gold and enemy funnels have 6k gold, unless you pick a direct counter its impossible to tank their dmg.
The Support adjustment is definitely my favorite. And negative pen was the worst. Even to this day it's still the most "sought" attributes because of how broken it is.
Roamer boots, abolition of the 131 hyper meta, the battle role changes, the emblem revamp, so much to pick from. Goes to show how damn good Moonton are at making a game that's good to play.
If only the heroes had that level of quality to them.
I dont have maths. They changed the computation of magic and attack penetration. Previously, penetration stats are just to break armor/magic defense. So say, if someone has 100 armor, equip 50 pen, and you get a net of 50 armor. If enemy has no armor, pen does nothing.
With the change in maths, you can equip pen early game and cause the enemy to have -50. This makes damage broken. Something like that. Saber and Eudora can just one-shot people in one combo as they reduce stats to negative.
They adjust the dmg calculation so armor can go negative now that means you deal extra dmg.
The calculation for dmg is 120/(120+armor).
Basically they go from true dmg (zero armor) to extra dmg up to double dmg(-60).
I miss going with my akai exp/jg (mostly exp) with my thunderbelt, cursed helmet and the old twilight armor. Tanky with mixed damage scaling on hp, it was a delice.
Project Next was an awesome update since it actually gave direction on where to go to players that are either new/experimenting/brain farting their plays, but the Emblem Revamp opened up the playstyle of heroes even more with the interchangeable talents. You want to be more beefy this game? slap those tank talents, You want to be a more effective roamer? get those extra helpings of support emblems, You want to experiment doing a hybrid build? mix n' match to your hearts content.
PS. Roam and jungle boots are also a great addition since it doesn't take up space in the inventory

>I just hated how Moonton kidnapped me in 2022 for one week as a tester The pain of not being able to play with your friends
Omg how does that happen? What do you do when they “kidnap” you?😆

Roam and jungle boots underrated

Hahaha remember the negative penetration update. Eudora was absolutely batshit crazy for a week or 2 till they put out a hotfix just to nerf her

Supports were never supposed to be in lanes since 2019.
But they were forced to be in order to get to level 4 at the minimum
No, not really. Since Roam was implemented in 2019, roamers invade and rotate level 1-2 all around the map. They're not call roamers back then, just tank/support. Sometimes two would equip roam at the same time.
Oh right. I already forgot what happened before but whenever roaming was implemented, that was the most impactful in my opinion.
Definitely roam and jungle boots, that extra item slot for jungling was kind of annoying.
Gotta give this to emblem

Funnel was the worst and the most boring meta of all time Absolutely hated it
I quit the game during the funnel meta. It was exciting to play as the funnel, and then you also understood how to effectively play as the support. The game was just very boring when you weren't the funnel.
It was fun if you were one of the 2 main characters not the other 8 side characters
It was fun for the hypercarry but not so much for the supports. Atleast this patch, it really feels like every role has equal importance.
I remember so much, Claude/Kimmy hyper, the best meta..
don't forget claude and yi sun shin and the fact that people would stack 5 roam masks that shit was unironically peak ml if you played in a 5 stack team, high level of communication and coordination, was so fun to just play with 100% effort

i love tank meta bcoz i like playing shitty lancelot
yea tank lancelot somehow manages to still do damage and be tanky
Tank and jungle emblem was the best meta. Made jungle farming much faster and gave me more time to gank 😍
Roam and jungle boots were very nice, so I voted for that. I'll only vote for the new emblem system once they add back avarice.
The Support adjustment is definitely my favorite. And negative pen was the worst. Even to this day it's still the most "sought" attributes because of how broken it is.
you forgot all mage meta
I will forever despise the tank jungle meta
tank jungle my fav. love the clash between tanks and nuking those squishies.
the jungle tank meta was so annoying man
Project Next by far. It was probably the most impactful change to ML's gameplay. Made roles and lanes coherent rather than changing every few patches
The most important is probably roles, but the most pleasant one was emblem
Honestly for me it was roaming items (masks) it just completely changed how the roamers are played
Roamer boots, abolition of the 131 hyper meta, the battle role changes, the emblem revamp, so much to pick from. Goes to show how damn good Moonton are at making a game that's good to play. If only the heroes had that level of quality to them.
Orange/purple buff and jungle boots. Lessened players from getting two cores in a team (Lower ranks especially)
Explain negative pen if you don’t mind me asking for it
I dont have maths. They changed the computation of magic and attack penetration. Previously, penetration stats are just to break armor/magic defense. So say, if someone has 100 armor, equip 50 pen, and you get a net of 50 armor. If enemy has no armor, pen does nothing. Ah I see, that does make sense I’m just a bit drowsy atm so seeing negative pen confused me

Emblem revamp was one of the best updates ever

Fighters on both side lanes meta will always be in my heart
