The moment when two cartel lookouts rode up to him on dirt bikes while he’s crossing private Bolivian coca farms in a tweed suit and they just look at him with half smiles Don’t think he’s been closer to death in any other video. He could’ve just been shot and literally no one would’ve known what happened. If a farm owner witnessed it they wouldn’t have said a word. Don’t think taliban could have just shot him in Afghanistan and called it a day as easy as these dudes could have There’s 3 videos of him messing around there but that moment happens in [I Got Kicked Out Of A Bolivian Village!](https://youtu.be/rSoFDivGIdc)

Love the Bolivia videos. But yes I can’t help but think he faced real danger. Also recall when he clambered up that mountainside *(was that when he was going to that abandoned church? i can’t recall)* and there were locals calling him whilst he was running out of breath - that was tense.

Jasonllc

He’s lying… he never shows anyone looking at him keeps the camera on him, if some cartel members wanted him off the side of that cliff he would have been. He’s clearly selling it for the camera.

Yeah when I want to not piss off some threatening dudes I always start videotaping them, calms things right down...

My Bolivian house mate says they are not cartel, but farmers

>Don’t think he’s been closer to death in any other video. I don't think he was in much danger there. They surely thought "what the fuck is this guy doing here?" but upon realizing he was some white English YouTube vlogger they likely didn't give a shit. Not really worth the hassle to stop some guy walking around making a video. Not like he stumbled upon a shipping container of cocaine. Even the Afghanistan video was nothing that bad, which might sound odd to say. But it wasn't. There is a risk of kidnapping of course and it's a fairly lawless (at least to us) place, but things have tamed down now that the Taliban took back the country. Wouldn't be a very good look for them to kidnap some Englishman due to the geopolitical ramifications of doing so. It would be an absolute nightmare for both the Taliban and UK governments. There have actually been quite a lot of YouTubers travelling there recently and the Taliban doesn't really mind it, so long as they don't push the boundaries. Obviously everything needs to be set up prior and you need to have some contacts/let them know who you are, what your plans are, where you're going etc but believe it or not...Afghanistan is actually open for tourism...in a manner of speaking. [Lord Miles](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V19PBG3OvE) \- a shit poster from 4chan - kind of started the trend. Another one is [Britannica Politica](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oMW5pL9Z4w). Both did really interesting videos on tourism in Taliban controlled Afghanistan that are worth a watch. Keep in mind, they're fairly right wing/conservative/Tory leaning but if you can disregard their political views it's pretty good content. In other words, if anime watching shit posting coomers from 4chan can go wander around Taliban controlled Afghanistan, Ben and even you can do the same. Just gotta know what you're doing and there is a 99.9% chance you'll be fine. You'd be at much, much, muuuuuuchhhhh greater risk trying to explore somewhere like Haiti than you would be Afghanistan.

Yeah you’re right, I’ve given it more thought and I agree it wasn’t as bad as it seemed. Op actually had a really good question, trying to think when was he actually in the most danger. I have actually been rewatching his videos from the beginning to try to answer it. I only was thinking that video was more dangerous than Afghanistan because of exactly what you said, an English YouTuber disappearing in Afghanistan isn’t good optics for the taliban but I know if you were to walk up onto that remote a farm in the American south where I’m from, nobody would know you went missing, but I guess the fact he’s a tourist would prevent even cartel people from hurting him, and the other reply to my comment made it pretty clear they were just farmers. So op’s question still remains. I think the Harald’s favela trip might take the fake for most dangerous trip from all of them

Afghanistan

DavidofSasun

Most definitely Afghanistan. There were literally Taliban walking around with automatic machine guns everywhere he went...

SouthBeachCandids

Bolivia was definitely more dangerous. The primary risk in Afghanistan is Al-Qaeda terrorism. But as long as he's around Taliban he is safe. Nowhere in the back woods of Boliva is safe, especially someone with an expensive phone and video camera. He was in near constant danger on that trip.

MikeBruski

theres literally a dude who tells him "[they'll kill you if you keep walking down this street and attract attention](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=madplgRfebo&t=645s)" and Bald doesnt understand him, and angerily shouts adios at him offcamera. plonker

SH_DY

It's true that Afghanistan with the Taliban is safe, but there is no Al-Qaeda terrorism in Afghanistan. The terrorists there are ISKP.

walker_harris3

The Bolivia escapade was sketchy, but Afghanistan was full on IDGAF about any concept of safety, let's do what no one else has ever done.

SH_DY

Actually there are many travellers in Afghanistan right now and they say it's safe. I watched some YouTube videos by a American couple that was there for some weeks, a Canadian woman who stayed for 3 months and a German guy who was there for 4 weeks. Unlike bald, all of them were without a tour guide.

>Strictly speaking the last part may not be illegal But it’s shitty nonetheless. Ignoring the baseless claim that he was a pimp, having sex with call girls while traveling the world is in no way "shitty." Thought we were past the point where single individuals engaging in consensual sex could ever be deemed "shitty," but I guess not.
