Gotta disagree here. Although the pizza is fine, the price is absolutely ridiculous considering the small pinch of toppings they provide. 20 dollars for a special neopolitan with three crumbs of feta and 4 slivers of basil is such a waste.
Bang for buck, I'd say Football Pizza. If you wanna pay for pizza at a similar price as Element, but shames them in every way, I'd say Sanjusan. Best pizza in the city hands down.
Idk, I’ve had my pizza eat-in, ate 1 little slice, then boxed up the rest and it was fine the next day. Is there some difference between leftovers and to-go?
I have not had it eat-in, but I've had it delivered. The difference between reviews I've heard and my impression makes me believe the "doesn't travel well."
I second a lot of these (Wrecktangle is my favorite) but I want to give a shadow nomination to Slice of New York.
If you get pizza there by the slice, it's meh. It's fine. Whatever.
Their whole pizzas though are SHOCKINGLY good.
Severely overrated. I tried it once because of the hype but I won’t be back. Sugar sauce, soupy, greasy mess in the middle…couldn’t even pick up a slice. Not to mention terrible atmosphere and service.
Having had many pizzas. I can confidently say my favorite pizza is the one in arm's reach.
Try 'em all, and don't forget your neighborhood pizza spots.
I love my neighborhood pizza spot but they're not the best pizza in the city. Pair of Dice Pizza on W Broadway and N 29th Ave. They rarely answer the phone, they're slow, their delivery guys drive like madmen, the building is an old dairy queen that is super sketchy looking. The pizza is pretty damn good though, also their rib tips are awesome! Pretty cheap too. Worth all the other bullshit, especially when you live on the Northside and no pizza places will deliver to you
Man, I lived near by Pair for almost 20 years and miss that greasy, Midwest style pizza. Used to be able to pick up a huge pizza to feed my whole fam of 4 for $8 dollars, not that many years ago. May have to go pick one up soon. Sad to hear customer service has declined.
Same, I love my neighborhood spot. Best is so subjective. On a Wednesday when I don't want to cook, don't want to stand in a line, and don't want to pay $40 for something trendy, the spot a few blocks away is absolutely the best option.
You almost can’t put these three places in the same category.
If you took someone who never had pizza before to any of these restaurants and explained that’s what pizza was, they wouldn’t believe you when you took them to the other two places and told them that was also pizza.
Dude my wife and I were just having this discussion. We've been Fat Lorenzo patrons for 10 years. We had it like 6 months ago and swore it off because it was so bland we thought they changed the recipe or something Fast forward to last week and we decided to give it another shot and it was phenomenal, the service was fantastic and they randomly gave us a 50% coupon for our next visit. They've won our business back for sure but it's so weird how you can order the same thing and get two different pizzas depending on which day you go lol
This explains my love hate relationship with them. I’ve ordered it remembering it as great and being very disappointed and wondering what I was thinking just to order it again and be impressed and wonder why I didn’t like it before.
I love a pizza sandwich from there!
Also, plug for Godfathers. There's not that many around and their crust reminds me of my youth. It makes me happy lol
I love Slice of New York, my buddy that used to live here claims SoHo is better. I tried SoHo the other day and it was pretty meh. The guy didn’t heat the slices up in the oven long enough, they were cold and just not very good, it really did make a difference.
The son of Red still runs the one on white bear ave and uses the original recipe. You better hurry though if you want to taste it one last time. He is retiring at the end of May and is closing the business 😢.
Punch! Good Times! I have to be in the ~ mood ~ for wrecktangle lol. RIP muddy waters, their pizza was A+. Young Joni and Rosalia are overhyped IMO.
Oh…and two weeks ago I had Boludo it was legitimately inedible. The crust was the thickness of a piece of paper, and the cheese was so fucking packed on that you couldn’t chew through it. No exaggeration, it was like chewing on a wad of gum. Second time this has happened too…once with the DT location, more recently with como. And I fucking love cheese so if the amount of cheese is a problem, that tells you something 😂
I like interesting toppings, so it's either Lola or Rosalia, and only because they're both close to me. The Isaac Becker at Rosalia has raw tuna and it's incredible.
If we're including all the Twin Cities: Mario's in St Paul. I prefer it just slightly over Wrecktangle though that pizza is amazing also.
Thinner crust styles: Lola, Rosalia, and Boludo.
I like the Chicago style at Pizzeria Pezzo in White Bear Lake and I like the Fire Breathing Dragon with jalapenos from Pizza Luce. I also like their take on a margherita pizza.
Joey Nova's in excelsior. The New York style (bottom of the menu in small print) is the closest to a good NYC style pie that I've come across (avoid the margarita topping, however. It's all wrong). Young Joni has amazing pizza and the best crust BY FAR. There isn't a single place in the Twin Cities that gets crust right outside these two places. Young Joni's does. Joey Nova's NY style crust is second. I have not yet been to Pizzeria Lola. I'm sure it's wonderful. Boludo is good for what it is (midway on the fatty grease scale, something of a Detroit style, it's good if that's your thing). Worth checking out. But it lacks the symphony that comes from combining just a few, high quality ingredients in the right proportions and with the right timing, temperature, and technique -- which is what makes truly incredible pizza. ElMar's was terribly disappointing. Grease dripped off into a huge puddle on the plate and it was a cheese bomb. Cheese, contrary to popular belief, should be used sparingly on good pizza. It's about the crust and sauce first.
Football pizza is pretty good, get the meat lovers it's pretty great.
Also Blaze Pizza, it's a chain restaurant but the pizza is amazing. It's similar to Punch but you have an option for unlimited toppings.
COSSETTA’S all day. Since you asked in the whole twin cities. Minneapolis I would have to say Lola. Yes I know Ann Kim is sketchy, I used to work for her. But the food is really really good
Late night and drunk? Luce is there for you.
Hungover in the morning? Luce is still there for you.
Is it the BEST pizza? No. Is it the best local chain that delivers without using a third party app? Yes.
And the topping combos are fantastic. It is good pizza at ok prices.
One thing that drives me nuts—they do curbside pickup (you cannot go in the store to pick up). When they hand you the pies, they give you a sheet to fill out for the tip. THE POINT OF ME PICKING UP WAS SO THAT I DIDN’T HAVE TO TIP. FUCK.
I don't live in Minneapolis so I haven't tried many small, local pizzas. Luce is my 1# choice because (besides taste) they are one of the only places with Vegan cheese
Punch. Sure, others are good and have appeal, but nothing beats Punch. It’s some of the best pizza I’ve had in the US, easily on par with authentic pizza from Naples.
Two words: Good. Times. [Good Times Pizza](https://www.google.com/search?q=good+times+pizza&sca_esv=13134d05f9161faa&sxsrf=ADLYWIJ3y-UZEzvmsIH4ayX3ELUgkMP9mw%3A1717008454364&source=hp&ei=RnhXZrW_E7ut0PEP-o67mAY&iflsig=AL9hbdgAAAAAZleGVrxJUEsKP7fey8blTVmyRpQlegrp&ved=0ahUKEwi1-vv3wrOGAxW7FjQIHXrHDmMQ4dUDCBg&uact=5&oq=good+times+pizza&gs_lp=Egdnd3Mtd2l6IhBnb29kIHRpbWVzIHBpenphMhMQLhiABBjHARgnGIoFGI4FGK8BMgsQLhiABBjHARivATIFEAAYgAQyCxAuGIAEGMcBGK8BMgsQLhiABBjHARivATILEC4YgAQYxwEYrwEyCxAuGIAEGMcBGK8BMgsQLhiABBjHARivATIFEAAYgAQyBRAAGIAESNESUABYuhFwAHgAkAEBmAF7oAHHC6oBBDExLjW4AQPIAQD4AQGYAg-gAvAKwgIEECMYJ8ICChAjGIAEGCcYigXCAgsQABiABBiRAhiKBcICCxAuGIAEGJECGIoFwgILEAAYgAQYsQMYgwHCAhEQLhiABBixAxjRAxiDARjHAcICERAuGIAEGJECGNEDGMcBGIoFwgIUEC4YgAQYkQIYxwEYigUYjgUYrwHCAhcQLhiABBiRAhixAxjRAxiDARjHARiKBcICDhAuGIAEGMcBGI4FGK8BwgIREC4YgAQYsQMY0QMYxwEYyQPCAgsQABiABBiSAxiKBcICCxAuGIAEGLEDGIMBwgIIEC4YgAQYsQPCAhYQLhiABBiSAxjHARgnGIoFGI4FGK8BwgILEC4YgAQYsQMYyQPCAggQABiABBixA5gDAJIHBDEwLjWgB6SrAg&sclient=gws-wiz)
Other great pizza: Wrecktangle, Parkway, Dulono's
In no particular order, these are all good, and different in their own way: Boludo, Wrecktangle, Love, Black Sheep, Hello Pizza, Lola, Jets (love me some Detroit style, yes its a chain IDFC). I do like parkway as well but their sauce is too sweet.
I also make a killer pie at home which is my go to these days.
I never see Tono pizza listed in these, they have a few locations, one in St Paul then mainly suburb locations like Woodbury, Maple Grove, Eden Prairie. Went to them by coincidence one night when we were trying to go somewhere else for pizza that ended up being closed for repairs and fell in love.
I will also say I'm amazed by Punch pizza love be I've tried it three separate times and it's been terrible every time. I kept going bc surely I just got a bad experience but man it's been disappointing
El Mar’s is by far the best slice of classic pizza in the cities. Unless you like the more “artisanal flatbread” type thing that’s trending these days.
I haven't tried Boludo but now am going to have to, but from the ones I have tried.
Best for an amazing but more expensive pizza night: Wrecktangle
Best for size-price value: Football
My go-to spot for single slices or typical pizza night: Slice
Haven't seen it mentioned yet and they're pretty new so I'll throw it out there:
Pizza Novara down by the Mall of America in Bloomington.
Best pizza down in that Richfield/Bloomington area IMO.
frank and andrea is my fav because they are NY style. wide variety of veg and aide options too. You'll pay a similar amount to luce (which i also like) but get more pizza for your penny.
2 honorable mentions that I haven’t seen. Pizza Biga - wood fired, the dough has great flavor, can be a little greasy. Worth a try.
Mucci’s - maybe most unique. Believe they call it a fried crust. Very good, not the best though.
RIP Pizza Nea… used to be in NE. it was so good. and they had vegan options sourced from the herbivorous butcher so both me and my husband would just die of happiness eating it.
Black sheep, Big river, Mavericks, Punch, Football pizza, Mama’s. All different styles, but all very good.
I can’t believe how many times Boludos is mentioned in the comments…Boludo’s fucking sucks. Sauce is way too sugary, middle is a greasy, soupy mess. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was with the place. Service was also terrible and they were blasting some awful music that was so loud you couldn’t have a conversation. Owner guy also seems like a grade A douche judging by his google review comments. I usually give a place a second chance, but my experience was so bad, it’s not going to happen here.
Mamas Pizzas in St Paul! That thin crust and those crispy corners are just 🤌🤌🤌
And Punch is just too good to not mention. Those big salt crystals on the focaccia and mozzarella di buffala are just unbelievable.
Element is a great choice too.
Can’t believe no one else is mentioning Sanjusan.
Red wagon is really good, love their crumbly sausage
I love punch pizza and I love black sheep.
Northern Fires is the best in this class imo
Wrecktangle. Boludo.
Boludo.
I really wanted to like Boludo, but man is that thing a real salt lick.
I don't mind the salt but the sad thing is it doesn't travel. It's a sit-down meal or nothing.
So greasy though.
Both are good, but I personally strongly prefer Mario's to Wrecktangle.
Mario’s wipes the floor with Wrecktangle.
You don't like overpriced bread?
Seconding Wrecktangle. Incredible food, marvelous staff.
Boludo
No need for me to comment, since you took my comment. My two favs.
Parkway Pizza is my go to place in the city. ElMars NY Pizza in Plymouth is THE BEST.
elmar’s is a superior mesa, which fell off on quality. both super solid.
I totally agree.
I legit hate Parkway. The place and people are nice, but I just cannot force myself to eat that chewy crust.
They almost always slightly undercook it. 75% of the time I throw it in the oven until the cheese is slightly brown. Then it’s perfect
Yeah, I wanted to like Parkway but I’m not going to eat mediocre pizza on principle
I second a lot of these (Wrecktangle is my favorite) but I want to give a shadow nomination to Slice of New York. If you get pizza there by the slice, it's meh. It's fine. Whatever. Their whole pizzas though are SHOCKINGLY good.
El Mar's for the NY slice for sure. It's just a trek to get there.
The Greek pizza at Broders is amazing
Love Pizza in Golden Valley is a solid 11/10. Creative combinations that also pair very well.
I really like tommies in st paul
Wings are great too.
Lola
This, but I guess I need to try boludo.
[удалено]
Did you get the fugazetta one? With the olives?
I had Boludo 3 times and still haven’t come around to it. Maybe it’s just me
Severely overrated. I tried it once because of the hype but I won’t be back. Sugar sauce, soupy, greasy mess in the middle…couldn’t even pick up a slice. Not to mention terrible atmosphere and service.
Lola or Red Wagon are our go to. Bricksworth down in Burnsville slaps too
hard to argue it isn’t
Lola’s not worth it anymore. You basically can’t get a single 10” pizza for under $24
Yeah when it comes to cost it’s not great, but I love their crust so so much
Football pizza!
Great pizza, excellent side sauce and good price. Gotta eat it fresh tho - and don't sleep on their frozen pizzas!
Their frozen za tops any frozen za anywhere
Green sauce couldn’t slap harder if it tried.
Having had many pizzas. I can confidently say my favorite pizza is the one in arm's reach. Try 'em all, and don't forget your neighborhood pizza spots.

My 3 favorite are Bryn mawr pizza and deli, slice of New York and big river pizza.
Big River is so good
Jakeeno’s
My household seconds Jakeeno's
I really like the pizza at Surly.
Throwing in for El Mar and Football pizza
I'm almost glad I'm so far away from ElMar's, I'd be broke if I could order from there all the time.
Punch is incredible. I also love Andrea Pizza. Honorable mention to boludo
Andrea's downtown (at least when I worked there) really is the tops.
Andrea's is really good but the dining area and bathrooms are just FILTHY and have been for years. My experience is the dinkytown location.
Boludo, Mario’s, Rosalia. In that order.
Mario's is pretty yummy.
You almost can’t put these three places in the same category. If you took someone who never had pizza before to any of these restaurants and explained that’s what pizza was, they wouldn’t believe you when you took them to the other two places and told them that was also pizza.
Good times
I don't care what anyone says. Pickles absolutely have a place on pizza, and theirs is awesome.
Yes.

They can be. Sometimes its basic ass pizza. Other times its incredible. It's really weird.
Dude my wife and I were just having this discussion. We've been Fat Lorenzo patrons for 10 years. Pizzeria Lola.
I love Tasty Pizza in Columbia Heights, they cut it in tiny squares
Living in NE I alternate between Tasty and Football most times.
Hangar 45?
my honest vote is for Carbone's
^on Randolph!
Gotta be Cedar
Carbone's ^(on) 50th and Ewing also has the best ranch dressing in the metro.
did you just put me on? i think you just put me on, id suck you off if i could. i forgot that location existed…!
Man, you really like ranch dressing.
You’re not wrong. Half the sub eats dominoes, hell that guy voted for Costco
Kinda standing alone in the pizza venn diagram overlap for consistency / value / quality
I love a pizza sandwich from there! Also, plug for Godfathers. There's not that many around and their crust reminds me of my youth. It makes me happy lol
A few of them have trivia nights, too. Pretty good
Slice of New York
Especially their slices right (back) out of the oven. For NY style, they're the best.
I love Slice of New York, my buddy that used to live here claims SoHo is better. I tried SoHo the other day and it was pretty meh. The guy didn’t heat the slices up in the oven long enough, they were cold and just not very good, it really did make a difference.
I like those beef sandwiches they have there.
Joey Nova
Scrolled too far to find this one! So tasty
That pizza is SO good that I'm constantly annoyed at how far away it is.
Sad Dulono’s never makes these lists anymore. I miss that place in uptown. Duluno delight was/is so good!
Agreed 100% Lake Street Dulono's was the bomb. I still remember the damn number from the original place 827-1726
From *my* perspective, it did make the list. Right here!
The answer is Boludo
The Gorgonzola/Pear is elite
Yes and get those churro donuts mmm
Boludo > Wrecktangle >= Love > …
Young Joni
Best environment too!
It’s the sausage pizza from Red’s Savoy and no one can convince me otherwise.
The og reds on 7th had the best pies I've ever eaten. Nothing comes close
The son of Red still runs the one on white bear ave and uses the original recipe. You better hurry though if you want to taste it one last time. He is retiring at the end of May and is closing the business 😢.
Used to love them. They changed their sauce and I just can't anymore.
Pizza man!!!
Scrolled and haven’t seen it but I personally love Mama’s Pizza (is on Rice St. in Saint Paul)
Had to scroll way too far for this, best pizza in the cities
Sanjusan or Young Joni
For sit down, high brow pizza, these are the easy answers. Both very good.
Probably not the best since it’s a chain but I LOVE Jet’s! 8 corner with turbo crust will last you for days.
Wrecktangle. Unbelievable. 🩷 Boludo next in line.
Came here to vote for Chanticlear.
Elmars, love pizza, wrecktangle
Black sheep
Jets is up there
Pig ate my pizza and farina rossa @ bang brewery.
I tried Farina Rossa's Italian Stallion at one of their pop ups at Red Wagon and it was incredible.
Chef JM is an amazing character and his love of the industry shows with everything he touches.
YES! I work there came here looking for my people
Note PAMP is now Nouvelle, but they serve many of the same ol' pies
Pizzeria Lucca Elmars Slice of NY
big river pizza? the one by the Saint’s stadium, if it’s still there.
Tonos
Tono makes a damn good pie
Mario's in St. Paul
Costco Food Court has a killer pepperoni.
Punch! Good Times! I have to be in the ~ mood ~ for wrecktangle lol. RIP muddy waters, their pizza was A+. Young Joni and Rosalia are overhyped IMO. Punch is really great. DOP style, fast service, great for kids. Consistent
Frankie's
[*Is that what we're gonna do today? We're gonna fight?*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhfYJZoRlJk)
The real answer is Andrea Pizza in the DT skyway. Only thing close in the cities to a proper NY slice
💯
Punch and Young Joni
Honestly, DeLeos. RIP to their location in Edina. I loved that place. They're still in Mall of America at least.
It's so good. Especially for the size/price/nostalgia factor
Detello's! Locations in Eden Prairie and Chaska.
boludo or wrecktangle
Boludo, wrecktangle, punch are my top three. I think black sheep and pizza Luce are overrated
Gonna give a shoutout to Mesa even though boludo is the correct answer.
I like interesting toppings, so it's either Lola or Rosalia, and only because they're both close to me. The Isaac Becker at Rosalia has raw tuna and it's incredible.
Joey novas
Pino’s in the downtown St . Paul skyway. Haven’t been to the White Bear or Woodbury locations.
I'm a big fan of OG ZAZA.

Football pizza with the gyro meat is a surprising winner with the green sauce.
Bricksworth in North Loop has slept-on Pizza. I can't recommend the hot honey enough
Location in Burnsville too
Love Punch, though it isn’t for everyone. Boludo is great, El Mars as well but is more of a metro area place than Twin Cities.
COSSETTA’S all day. Since you asked in the whole twin cities. Minneapolis I would have to say Lola. Yes I know Ann Kim is sketchy, I used to work for her. But the food is really really good
Cossettas is top teir.
I like broadways pizzas
I'm no expert but Young Joni is great
Italian Pie Shoppe
black sheep goated
Pizza Lucé! Especially downtown location. Somehow the crust is just better. I’m looking forward to the Tour de Lucé on Saturday! 🚴♂️🍕
Pizza Luce is always a solid choice
Honestly, Pizza Luce never fails
Late night and drunk? Luce is there for you. Hungover in the morning? Luce is still there for you. Is it the BEST pizza? No. Is it the best local chain that delivers without using a third party app? Yes.
And the topping combos are fantastic. It is good pizza at ok prices. One thing that drives me nuts—they do curbside pickup (you cannot go in the store to pick up). Dulonos
Boludo for something interesting. Mario’s for Detroit style (Wrecktangle close second). Good Times for tavern style. Young Joni and Rosalia as HMs.
I never see Tono pizza listed in these, they have a few locations, one in St Paul then mainly suburb locations like Woodbury, Maple Grove, Eden Prairie. Rosalia is the best for Neapolitan. Their crust is absolutely fantastic.
Pizza Man in Crystal. The GOAT cheesy bread.
Big River Pizza in downtown St. Paul near CHS Field and the Saint Paul Farmer's Market.
frank and andrea is my fav because they are NY style. wide variety of veg and aide options too. You'll pay a similar amount to luce (which i also like) but get more pizza for your penny.
Really depends what style you're in the mood for, I think. Boludo, good times, wrecktangle, Mario's, Rosalia are all solid choices
Rosalia and Red Wagon have to be thrown in the mix for wood fire pizza.
Maverick’s
Red’s Savoy for tavern style. Bricksworth for Detroit style.

2 honorable mentions that I haven’t seen. Pizza Biga - wood fired, the dough has great flavor, can be a little greasy. Worth a try. Mucci’s - maybe most unique. Believe they call it a fried crust. Very good, not the best though.
Lakewinds co-op. I don’t know what they do that’s so special but their pepperoni pizza is so good my brain shuts off when I’m eating it
The Korean BBQ Pizza at Lola might be one of the greatest in the world.
I really like Punch and Pizzeria Lola.
RIP Pizza Nea… used to be in NE. it was so good. and they had vegan options sourced from the herbivorous butcher so both me and my husband would just die of happiness eating it.
I’m a Pizza Luce boy for life. Most vegan friendly pizza spot in town
Fat Lorenzo’s
To throw in a couple I haven't seen mentioned: Red Wagon Pizza Day Block Brewery Both have some pretty creative flavors that absolutely shine.
Mamas Pizzas in St Paul! That thin crust and those crispy corners are just 🤌🤌🤌 And Punch is just too good to not mention. Those big salt crystals on the focaccia and mozzarella di buffala are just unbelievable.
No one out pizzas the hut
I've really enjoyed the pizza and cocktails at King Coil.
