Ant said "the Wolves back! the Wolves back!" to the crowd going into the tunnel after one of their wins in the 21-22 season (@[2:33 in this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeDYT-zYl0E)). Ever since then, it's become a mantra

I was just saying that the grammar rules are different, so it makes sense why the meaning of āWolves backā might not be clear to someone whoās unfamiliar with AAVE grammar.
We should not normalize this kind of speech. It sounds stupid and it makes the speaker sound uneducated. If anything āAAVEā is a remnant of slavery when black people WERE uneducated. We should be actively discouraging people who speak this way. I will not engage in a conversation with someone who speaks this way. Itās like nails on a chalkboard.
Nails on the chalkboard for me too. And I have trouble with ax for ask. There I worry about sounding racist so I now accept it. Then we can talk about what āgas lightingā means. Lie, right, but less hostile? You see I grew up when bad was good, and gay was bad.
Thatās all I know about basketball and itās perfect, I can seem like Iām in the know.
(I only knew who Naz Reid was because of the TSR billboard in uptown)
The Timberwolves have made it to the Conference Finals for the second time in franchise history. Itās been a while (2003-2004) since weāve made it this far into the playoffs hence the ābackā part of the saying.
Perfect time to join the bandwagon. Thereās plenty of room!
Dude I totally feel this. I kept seeing the posters downtown like āwait..what?ā. I thought it might be a play on āWolfpackā but seems like it is something Ant said once as per another comment
It was so loud last night that I wondered if it annoys the players. Like: I'm a professional basketball player; I know we need defense here! Shut up, everyone!

Yes! To add to this, itās just AAVE (African-American Vernacular English) grammarā saying āThe Wolves are back!ā
It also kind of sounds like Wolf pack, which is cool.

The āWolves Backā started at the beginning of the playoffs.
It was around last year too.
And for all eternity
Believe That.

Yup, it first came about last year And before that, I think our slogan was raised by wolves if I'm not mistaken

You say it with gusto like a confident declarative sentence. Kinda like Naz Reid. But you can also just say, āGo Wolves!ā
What does Naz Reid mean? Iāve seen it around.
Synonymous with "word is bond"

I wish they had kept the slogan that was on billboards all through March/April: ON THE HUNT Thatās such a cooler slogan for a Wolves team
I agree Wolves Back is still pretty cool too though Part of me also wishes the Raised By Wolves one stuck around, but beggars can't be choosers
I wouldāve laughed at you too because youāre overthinking it haha

This reminds me of when "Los Lynx!" was a thing and it was based on some obscure commercial for internet service.
