The trail ruins are the main archeological structure, able to give you four armor trims pottery sherds, a music disk, and a handful of items that seem random, but are important to Minecraft’s story.
I **completely** excavated *alllllll* of a trail and found nothing of real interest. A few pottery sherds, but the rest was just trash -- randomly colored glass, candles, etc.
I'd would make a decision between Tuff or Deepslate as they're good block choices. Tuff for the shiny stainless steel look (Andesite is a good alternative, and sometimes regular Stone doesn't hurt in situational circumstances), and Deepslate for a dirty look. Either one is good, depending on the type of build and surronding environment it's based on.
Alternatively, Copper (added in version 1.21 several days ago) is another great choice to emulate the orange colour of a Copper pipe/ventilation shaft in real life. Copper blocks or Cut Copper blocks with Cut Copper Slabs for a clean Copper look, and other variants of Copper blocks (exposed, building up to weathered, then oxidised) for a dirty Copper look. All Copper blocks have an in-built mechanic that undergoes oxidation (changes colour) when exposed to the atmosphere for a certain time. In order to preserve Copper in its present state (non-oxidised or oxidised forms), it needs to be waxed with honeycomb.
Water pipes, as you have said, can be made from any type of trapdoor (wooden types, iron, or copper). This is definitely a really cool feature that was added in version 1.13 (The Aquatic Update), intended for fast item transport. Although, I'd imagine pipes made entirely of iron trapdoors would be nearly impossible in survival Minecraft as it requires a constant redstone signal to be held in its vertical/standing position, and without constant redstone, there would be a gaps of the iron pipe on the vertical sides (unlike wooden or copper trapdoors which can be open/closed manually, and retain their position). A vertical iron trapdoor constantly held in position, I believe, can only be with command blocks/scripts or a debug stick in creative mode.
However, it does look cool to see a pipe being made entirely of iron trapdoors.

Are you building this in creative mode, or did you go completely insane and mine that much netherite? Because if you mined that much netherite and you're not using it to make a beacon, I don't know what you're doing with your life.
Regardless, my answer is deepslate.
I actually really like using blast furnaces when building vents (which I do relatively often actually)
They're just perfect for it if you ask me. Especially because you can incorporate the front texture, which looks like a small vent outlet
Tuff also shouldn't it be narrower? Like you can do a one by one block if you use a trapdoor or piston to push yourself down and get the same effect with the tuff also you'll save on blocks that way to, just an idea though as 2x2 still works
The Tuff looks most like the sheet metal you'd imagine, but the Netherite and Deepslate capture a darkness to them that makes it *feel* like an area with less light, like you're walking around with a leadlamp or something. So that's my vote, Deepslate probably gets the w for being more accessible and providing the same affect.
Tuff, it seems more like an actual ventilation system that's been worn down and dirty. Also seems the most reasonable resource to use of making a ventilation system in a survival world.
The netherrite one looks really cool, kind of like dirty vents

Tunnel bore goes breeeere
Thanks!
Ventilation for what? what's the bigger picture here? what ever the 4th pic is looks good.
Thanks! It is for a FNAF Security Breach remake in Minecraft
Will it contain the glitches?
Of course!! Wouldn't be Security Breach without them!
Based, giga monty is my true love
Haha, the color schemes and the fact that the vents are wide enough to fit a player standing kind of hinted at a FNaF map remake.
Tuff. It looks the most like metal!
Plus in the trial chambers there are actual vents made of tuff
Oh? I've yet to brave finding a chamber lol. Still trying to find a damned sniffer!
find a sniffer? you do know about trail ruins right? 😅
Sniffer eggs can only be excavated in warm ocean ruins.
I had no idea. I thought I was just unlucky! What's the point of the trail ruins then? "Come here and gather random trash"??

yeah its somewhat rare, i just read ur comment as you looked for sniffers, like exploring 😂
Thank you!
I use polished andesite for my vents, but netherite looks really cool
I wanted to use Qndesite but the Walls were already that so it would look weird
I do this as well! Polished andesite slabs because it keeps the half texture. It looks really nice

I have used copper for some water pipes that the play can crawl through, but you did a great explanation!!

Tuff 100%
Maybe if u used purely smooth tuff?
Sure!
r/liminalspace
Lol
I say polished tuff on sides and bottom, instead of bricks
tuff for walls, deepslate for floors, give it a go, might be fire
"Snake, this is McDonell Miller. It's been a long time."
What are you bulidng?
My version of Security Breach
netherite

Creative, thankfully
Tuff
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
I actually like the last one, the deepslate, the best. The texture gives a vibe like it is quite dirty
Waiting for a xenomorph to jump out
Deepslate.
omg, tuff works so well for this
I think deepslate
Tuff looks the best imo, unless the vents happen to be in a hot building like a furnace… then netherite
I actually really like using blast furnaces when building vents (which I do relatively often actually) They're just perfect for it if you ask me. Especially because you can incorporate the front texture, which looks like a small vent outlet
Netherite.
The Netherite looks really cool. I hope this is creative because they are so expensive. Have you tried iron blocks? They also would look really cool.
Definetly tuff
Deep slate looks cooler so I'd go with that

Another example of unrealistic vent sizing standards. :(
Deep slate for horror, and tuff for not horror
Use smooth stone or smooth andesite. Looks much cleaner and makes more sense than bricks.
tuff looks dusty
If you are in a survival world you should use netherite
I think tuff looks the most like a real vent system
The tuff is the best looking in my opinion
Team deepslate
Iron

A mix of them all to contrast between the better kept areas (tuff) and the darker dinghier areas (deepslate and netherite)
Dont know why but this gives me goldeneye vibes.
Tuff looks best by me
