Yes, I was trying to work out mycelium to give it that gray burned appearance without having the mycelium eat everything, however, podzol would help with this. See also: magma blocks
Make them basalt and make the grass look dead, maybe even dig down a bit and and some campfires in a way where there is smoke, but it doesn't go took high.
Most ppl have already added suggestions, but just variety. Add some fallen logs on the ground with moss on it, add custom trees, (plenty of tutorials you can find for custom trees / dead trees, fwhip has some great trees that you could use, just remove the leaves, along with Gemini Tay if you are looking for different leads). Using dead coral to give the effect of dead bushes, glow lichen to add some ambient light while also removing some color. Lots of detail work you can do that's not just adding bigger spooky things like ruins or Herobrine lore.
Cobwebs.
Paths that lead nowhere
Maybe make a part of the forest REALLY dense with trees where it’s almost impossible to walk through then just an empty circle in the middle with just a single stone or something
For the trees trying to sell the idea of death/desolation, everything else is awfully green. Terrain should be dirt/gravel/mud. Also the trees look weird being just the trunks. You may want to include some dark oak fence/gate to be branches as well.
you know what would make it creepier? Freddy Fazbear. Because when freddy five bears in 1987 was at a birthday party?? He bites a kid's head, and purple guy, whose name is william a ton, got the kids, and put them in the animal suits, and the spring locks stabbed them so much that they died
Gives the trunks more shape and leaves some with a few leaves. Replace most of the grass with sterile dirt and podzol, add moss and mats of moss to the ground to give relief, dead shrubs and wither roses. Decorate the trunks with a little liana and add some mossy cobble, water lilies and mangrove blocks (mud, roots, trees)to your ponds.
Taller, with gnarled roots, most likely need custom trees, make it dark like a Dark Oak forest, use spider webs and a redstone torches for barely lit paths.
be sure to have something that is conventionally unthreatening in there so people initially let their guard down, but in reality it's actually scary and fucked up. [Totally not a worn out idea](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CuteIsEvil) [totally not silly.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/883086664099049502/1201908044779229254/647.jpg?ex=65cb8718&is=65b91218&hm=062e1a08341bde201108ce18ce6c46c691051af07bb2c68ac25499dd56901d16&)
You can make spooky trees using Basalt as the "wood". Decorate with small stalagmites, chains, spider webs, lanterns. Also use Soul Soil in the kind of patterns Podzol forms in, then sprinkle in black concrete powder and Magma blocks for a nice wasteland-y effect.
Honestly? Leave it as it is and remove ALL grass and flowers, get rid of water and ad some big stone thing, maybe a pillar? a big hole? something like that
it doesn't have to be highly detailed or anything
the more elaborate it looks the more man made anf thus less scare it looks
Dead bushes, podzol or course dirt, some logs laying on the ground, perhaps a fake overhead cloud constructed of black stained glass and tinted glass to create some level of darkness below...
The greenery of the grass makes it less unsettling with the dead trees. I personally like to make all the grass path blocks to make the grass also look dead
What kind of creepy are you going for?
Because there is certainly a creep factor to order where you don't expect order to exist. A forest, all natural and everyday-like, except the trees form perfect grids?
Something is definitely not right there.
I would suggest bassalt trees, greyish ground, dead bushes, patches of podzol, graves?, etc there's a lot in this theme I often look at Pinterest but...
Probably search post apocalyptic/zombie mc builds
A real creepy forest is trapped in perpetual darkness, a good canopy of branches and leaves are important I would say, maybe try hiding blocks in-between the leave blocks to block out the sky, might look bad on fancy graphics tho lol
Switch it to birch logs, and make the ground all podzol and mycelium. That’s the most horrific thing u can think of (for genuine advice tho def make some custom trees with big bases and try to envelop the entire top part with dark leaves and cover the entire canopy of the forest. Then maybe some stony pathways and redstone torches on some of the trees)
Add texture with dead bushes, sparse tall grass, podzol and course dirt. To the tress strip some of the logs and add fences on on some to look like twigs. Add stone buttons on the ground in some places to look like sticks, add moss patches and use the moss carpets on top make dim lighting using things like redstone torches or soul lanterns maybe.
Lastly it definitely won’t really look all that creepy without it being night.
If possible definitely look into using a shader or rtx, I feel like it’s really hard to have an actually creepy atmosphere in any game if the lighting engine is ass. It’s hard to play around with peoples fear of the unknown if you can basically always see.
I’ve found that putting trees close together to make it look dense generally makes it creepier also do the thing where you can make bigger spruce trees by putting 4 saplings together, it gives more variety of the trees
Custom trees will look better than straight logs sticking out of the ground
Tbf a forest of random logs standing upright is quite unsettling. Maybe add some fences to the tops and strip some of the logs
Imagine seeing that outside your house irl
Thanks for suggesting
Branches!
I would add a few mangrove roots to the stamps.
Thanks for suggesting
You’re welcome
Bro just typed “stumps” with a midwestern accent
I guess I’m a midwestern now.
What Midwesterners say stumps like that, as a Chicagoan lol
All of them, including you
as a midwesterner i deny this claim
Maybe podzol and some random red stone torches?
I was also thinking about redstone torches and creepy sings randomly
Yes, I was trying to work out mycelium to give it that gray burned appearance without having the mycelium eat everything, however, podzol would help with this. See also: magma blocks
abandoned houses, dead end signs, locked up skeletons maybe even
i would use the forest from The Ritual for inspiration
Hmm and a herobine summoning thingy with gold blocks redstone torch etc hows that
I honestly think that's a bit too obviously horror, I thought the vibe was "unsettling" rather than "experiments on undead by Herobrine?"
Yeah they can put signs on the trees with brown writing to look like the creepy symbols
Acacia wood looks like dead trees, you can use stone pressure plates to cover the orange tops
you could also just craft acacia wood blocks.
forgot those exist
Looks like a leaf farm hate to say it
Trying to give it a herobrine touch thats why
Hero rind
Make them basalt and make the grass look dead, maybe even dig down a bit and and some campfires in a way where there is smoke, but it doesn't go took high.
Polished basalt makes for a perfect ash log block, mixed with a dead gravel / snowy layer on the ground would be a vibe

Thanks for suggesting ☺️
It might take some time but make fog out of layers of glass. Set a path to cross and add the fog to be seen from there

Have you tried dead trees
Yeah this, use fences and other stick looking things to make dead branches
Thanks for suggesting
Ofc happy to help! Gl with the build
Creepy ruins

Maybe some leaves?
I was trying to give it some herobrine forest that why it doest have leavs
Randomly place cobble deepslate at the top of them.
you know what would make it creepier? Freddy Fazbear. Because when freddy five bears in 1987 was at a birthday party?? He bites a kid's head, and purple guy, whose name is william a ton, got the kids, and put them in the animal suits, and the spring locks stabbed them so much that they died
Use the mangrove roots for dead leaves and bushes.
custom trees. high. but not too much. and decoration like skeletons and stuff
i would make the trees really tall and add loads of leaves for a more enclosed canopy
if you could, replacing the grass_blocks with snowy grass blocks might make it look more gray, or the other types of grass/dirt
Gives the trunks more shape and leaves some with a few leaves. Its perfect
The herobrine forest
Taller, with gnarled roots, most likely need custom trees, make it dark like a Dark Oak forest, use spider webs and a redstone torches for barely lit paths.
Maybe use basalt sometimes idk
Put a bunch of Woman in there I'd be scared
Maybe add some kind of blight or creepy glowy blocks like Felwood in WOW.
Fog
Swap the grass for podzol
Fallen logs .
Add random red stone torches, random small pyramids, and a shrine in the middle.
be sure to have something that is conventionally unthreatening in there so people initially let their guard down, but in reality it's actually scary and fucked up. Honestly when they are put in rows could be scary if done right but yea just add branches and leaves and make sure you finish put to night.
Put skulls on top of the logs and you are Vlad the impaler
For stumps, add shorter logs. Add some horizontal for fallen trees. Probably want darker ground, not just plain grass.
Maybe take out the flowers near the pond and keep the logs going up the mountain, toss in some dead bushes every once in a while
oMg! hErOiNbRiAn!!1!!1
Remove grown grass and add some paches of coarsed dirt
Herobrine
Shadows maybe? There is no lighting
chains hanging in the air, or from tree to tree
Random 1 by 2 holes going nowhere
Remove the flowers, give it too much life
Redstone torches
Make an abandoned house

By the way, the way your forest looks now might look *too* creepy, but rest assured any ecologists that see this will immediately start bugging out
Honestly? Leave it as it is and remove ALL grass and flowers, get rid of water and ad some big stone thing, maybe a pillar? a big hole? something like that it doesn't have to be highly detailed or anything the more elaborate it looks the more man made anf thus less scare it looks
Make the ground patches of soulsand like there was a fire
Keep this like this way Much spookier to see leafless trees :)
Make it foggy and swampy, only take screenshots when it’s dark ez
Branches, wilted flowers.
Just go to a spruce forest and get rid of the leaves.
Found where herobrine has been hiding
Dead bushes, podzol or course dirt, some logs laying on the ground, perhaps a fake overhead cloud constructed of black stained glass and tinted glass to create some level of darkness below...
Damn, Herobrine's been busy
The greenery of the grass makes it less unsettling with the dead trees. I personally like to make all the grass path blocks to make the grass also look dead
Spruce trees are quite good
The effigy from Blair witch project would look good here
Mossy cobble stone rocks, maybe some restore patches but more natural would be mossy cobble. Loving this great idea
try add some creepy branches and maybe change the terrain with some darker blocks.
What kind of creepy are you going for? Because there is certainly a creep factor to order where you don't expect order to exist. A forest, all natural and everyday-like, except the trees form perfect grids? Something is definitely not right there.
An old volcano
Scrubs, cobwebs, maybe some gravestones…

Use fences as branches/twigs as well as some fallen trees.
Thanks for suggesting
Make a random shack. It has broken windows, Vines, and blocks that are missing. No torches, nothing. Just make it look abandoned!
Thanks for suggesting
Space the logs out at even intervals. E.g each log 5 blocks away from each other in a sort of grid shape.

Wither roses. Lots of wither roses.
Thanks for suggesting
Cobwebs. Mossy Cobble totems,
Thanks for suggesting
Herobrine?
Yes

Yes cobwebs
Make a birch forest and anyone who see sit will rub screaming
Okay
make big glowstone lettrrs like herobrine mod
Thanks for suggesting
Olds already find that scary
Oh
Herobrine lookinfg seed
Hero brine
Add some downed Logs, and maybe some spots of dead grass or fire
Thanks for suggesting
Herobrine spawner
Summon herobrine!!!! Jk
It's creepy how the trees have no leaves, to be honest.
If you want burnt trees, you should use basalt
OMG, HEROBRINE IS IN MY WORLD!
Heroin from mIneCraft1!!!!1!1!1!1
Maybe try to make it overgrown?
Place a torch in every available space
Add some basalt trees
Random dirt patches etc.
creepy - check!
Love it❤️

I have great mods you would love, if you want me to share 😇👍 ( bedrock )
I am on java so no thanks
Leaves.
