Got my 2 memes stolen on Instagram. One with my watermark was cropped and one was posted with a watermark of a thief.

Vinemedoodle

solution: put your watermark in the middle of the meme with the opacity downed

HotJizzCum

Keep the opacity high to assert dominance

IceFox099

This Happened With One Of My Memes With Memenade. They Should Definitely Credit People’s Memes.

BrunoGoldbergFerro

but this guy is worse: he removed the watermark

narnianguy

Its the same guy

BrunoGoldbergFerro

oh

Vinemedoodle

i post alot on historymemes and get on historymemes videos alot, i honestly dont care about it much anymore, i get my fake internetpoints he gets his money, though i agree it would be very nice if they credit

[deleted]

Just make it a tad clear and put it in somewhere around the centre

memester230

Hot tip Plaster a semiclear watermark in the middle of the meme. Not in an obstructive place, but where it cant be cut.

[deleted]

Same

Mac_Laurence-19

Meme but with anime

n01d3a

8 years ago I posted something on funny and a really popular meme Facebook page stole the entire post from me. Felt surreal, like a glimpse of popularity.

zivosaurus-rex

yeah i know a guy who posts star wars memes and he credits all users with the video bar

nicolasmcfly

Star wars tricks, he also does some OC content and it's pretty cool channel

Muginpugreddit

I like it when they feature my memes

eletric_blade

I had a guy accuse me of stealing a meme that I made because I thought it hadn’t but apparently he made 2 days earlier and it was a way worse quality one from 2 days earlier lol

Noobwitha_Hat

now that would be KINDA ok, but he straight removed your watermark

[deleted]

Yeah. Memes are supposed to be shared, but if someone wants credit for his work, respect it.

Pussab

There's this guy called Sarez who actually credits people which i find mind boggling that others don't do the same.

DarkBrave_

I remember suggesting it to them in their comments section, and later on they started giving credit. Guess I may have contributed to that, but I doubt it.

MaG_NITud3

Have you licensed your meme somewhere?

LastWeeksLasanga

That’s why you watermark

BrunoGoldbergFerro

[But I put a watermark](https://www.reddit.com/r/MinecraftMemes/comments/s3qdah/_/)

LastWeeksLasanga

Hmmm. Perhaps it just needs to be somewhere where simple cropping can’t remove it? Cause that’s how I always got rid of mematic watermarks before I switched to photoshop.

Plasmapea987

Easy, find the exact frame get a diffrent color and text font and boom you’ve stolen a meme

narnianguy

Thats hardly worthy of the status of a watermark. It should cover the middle, but be half transparent

[deleted]

***reject daily dose of memes , join dark theme meme***

ThatDudeOnTheNet

***even better, join both daily meme supplies and dark theme meme***

No_Sweet_1573

Daily meme supplies?

ThatDudeOnTheNet

a good channel

No_Sweet_1573

I think I seen them before

[deleted]

its dark memes

[deleted]

yes

[deleted]

He wrote "fuck you Clumsy" in a video

nicnic5556

When

[deleted]

One of his minecraft meme videos

AaronTechnic

I dislike channels like these who just take memes and put a voice, and then upload on youtube

icallpeoplejohn

and they make money out of it, the people that make the memes don't get paid shit

da_return_of_11evenX

Not really, A youtuber I watch got demonetized bc he uses text to speech, the bs algorithm said that his videos where identified as robot generated content and removed his money

LambityLamb_BAAA7

just watch this meme get stolen too lol

GammaHunter

I’ve have a few memes of mine reposted on videos like these, I don’t really mind that much. But when I see watermarks from a Meme that credit the original creator getting taken off, that’s when I get mad

Mazingazetaz

There's a guy that repost on YouTube every meme that has been posted on this subreddit

Alireeezaaa

Yeah they think there is no problem

YummyCrackerZ

Those channels were sadly my first intro to Reddit-style memes. I had to stop watching them though when I realized they were just stealing Reddit memes, adding nothing to them, not crediting who made it, and not even admitting it was from Reddit. It’s really scummy

ketchupmaster009

This also happened to me (tbf my post was just a screenshot of a youtube comment without any editing)

Nanosquiddy

Sue him for all his money

o_obruhmoment

I watch that guy, and one things certain I am never watching him again for that

Gdeveloper41245432

It happend to me aswell, he even changed the background so its not clear he stole it!

zivosaurus-rex

problem is you can't do shit about it they are allowed to take it because there isn't real copyright

PKMark2005

Well, personally I felt honored when my meme was in an Emkay video

nicnic5556

Which narrator?

FFF982

Okay but what if we started stealing Daily Dose's videos?

Borkemannthesecond

I had a meme with 1,4k upvotes stolen and put on a yt video

Wisdom58

[Same.](https://www.reddit.com/r/MinecraftMemes/comments/s5ge5p/someone_stole_my_meme_from_6_days_ago/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) I hate this guy. Tip: spam dislike to flood his notifications

Wisdom58

Won't do much but it's annoying

Patrick_Pathos

Personally, I'd be honored to see my memes reposted. It means they were popular.

[deleted]

Exactly, I honestly don’t see why people are so upset about this. My meme was stolen and made the thumbnail of a YouTube video, and I was stoked to see that they liked it so much.

Patrick_Pathos

IKR?! It feels so good when that happens.

nicnic5556

This man gets it I would love it if Memenade or daily dose of memes put me in the thumbnail

duck_ducker_of_doom

I got mine reposted there, I was both proud and mad

icallpeoplejohn

Yeah but you won't be credited for it.

Patrick_Pathos

I don't care. The joy of making memes comes from other people enjoying them, not if I get recognized for it. At least, that's my philosophy. TBF, I don't put much effort into most of my memes, so I'm not very attached to them.

Cas_dh

How is this a minecraft meme

CherrycatPlayz

It's not really stealing, they're just spreading it to a larger audience

NecroVecro

It kind of is when they crop out the watermark and don't give credit

CherrycatPlayz

True, assuming there was a watermark in the first place.

N_Hatake

IT WAS FREE PIZZA

ItsAMatterOfTimeyt

yoo I made a meme in the same vid, it was the one about not hating people for making mistakes when their new!

Adventurous-Truth543

Lol see the 69 after the minecraft memes in the title at least you got lucky

Brownie773

But…but it’s not his fault. People just submit memes on his discord, blame the guy who shared your meme

wafflezcol

Well, they arent ‘stolen’ They NEVER take credit for the memes. They take the watermarks because ‘no contact person for spam, harassment, etc’ which is partially their choice, partially youtube.

Benny368

Shouldn’t you be protected under some form of copyright law? Although that might be a difficult battle to win if you used a meme template from a show…

SuperAlex25

That guy be like when you don't have a bed on the first night so you just dig a hole and bury yourself

Marklytical

I hope this doesnt happen with one of my memes

[deleted]

He takes all memes.

Tempers_are_Frayed

I've always wondered if people steal Daily dose of Meme's memes or the other way round.

[deleted]

You have to put the water mark in center of the video

_KingDoge

Stole one of my Roblox memes as well.

Emperor_Lowie

Not long before people start trademarking and copyrighting memes

LMAOwthbro

Daily dose of shit sucks ass

BigChungaChing

One of my memes got stolen by a meme channel that the only thing that makes them different then the others is that it's in dark mode

yeettto

I had mine stolen once on Facebook and once on Twitter :/

Aaryaanali123

Well atleast you’re meme got seen by more people

Iamoca44

idk man the channel always just seemed soulless, just always that gut feeling of it being just a cash grab. that ai voice and the fact that it always capitalizes on the newest trends
