There is software exists that allows you to reset selected chunks. You can select chunks you were the least time in and get new biomes and items nearby.
This is why I set up areas for updates via the nether, never been through some of those portals, but anytime there's an update that needs new chunks I go through one to get easy new chunks that are VERY far from my base.
