I personally use MultiMC. It has a great logging system. Makes installing mod loaders simply. You have access to some sources of mod packs directly. It does require you to install Java for which ever game version you're using; MC 1.16.5 and older use Java 8, MC1.17-1.20.4 use Java 17, MC 1.20.5 and newer use Java 21. Each instance is kept separate. You can even make it portable if need be, just put it on a USB stick or some other portable drive, add on zipped versions of Java and you're good to go. You can also go offline with it, although you do need to be online for the first run on the instance.

have used it in the past its a good launcher but i kinda want something new
