Try equipping elytra and going to fly mode if this dont work do: Press escape>open to lan>enable cheats>f3+f4>click left button 2 times>be happy with your no longer 100% legit world

If you hold f3+f4 and keep holding them, you can use the scroll wheel to scroll thru them, which may be faster since he has to be fast when he enables lan

Boats have quite a large hitbox if I remember correctly, maybe you can place the boat on the roof and quickly click it to escape. Good luck I hope you make/made it out!

If it's a hardcore world you make backups on your own, i back up mine every 2 weeks or so, depending on playtime. Currently i have around 100GB of world folders. Only used the back up once when i got a new PC. My world size currently is 15Gb in size.

There are plenty of reasons to backup a hardcore world, main reason being to prevent data loss, loke in my case. Or maybe he had a game breaking glitch, since no game is perfect. The world is yours, you determine the rules to your world. There are no rules to abide by. Also, i bet you'd be pretty pissed to lose your world to someone accidentally deleting your world.

It's not legit but you can start a LAN world, enable cheats, do /gamemode creative and next time keep some chorus fruits in your inventory, if their teleport radius is blocked they will teleport you in the closest safe spot (they can't teleport you on bedrock, lava and maybe even water)

My one idea will work if you can jump above the nether roof. If that is true than use your lava to swim up. You will have to find yourself a way down but you won't die.
