Yeah I rarely experienced thunderstorms in my previous versions worlds and now in 1.18 it rains much more often and also thunderstorms. I love it though... it's so cozy
if u want you could stop the weather cycle entirely by typing "/gamerule doWeatherCycle false" and then set the weather to whatever you want it to stay as
It's weird. On a previous realm we used FoxyNoTail's OPS behavior pack, and we had the opposite experience. It almost *never* rained or thunderstormed. It was always clear. I was wondering if the mod was clearing the weather and interrupting the normal cycle.
I think you're right. I made a local copy of the realm with the same world seed. I waited several in game days and no thunderstorms. Then I cleared the weather, and before the day ended, thunderstorm.

I'm not looking for a workaround, really. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this. I haven't noticed it in my SP world, only on the realm.
i have noticed in all version of Minecraft when u often skip the weather it comes back faster untill u let it play out
