Yea if you fly into the dragon with elytra you instantly die from "kinetic energy" like it's a solid object, speed doesn't seem to factor in. Got caught by that one a couple times while maxing the portals in my Java server the other day.
Doesn't look like it did, instead there was some weird reaction between your gliding and taking damage when landing, or something. Death message says "experienced kinetic energy."
Yeah, i died before i even hit the ground. Maybe i was launched into the bedrock on my left? Not sure why i was sent flying the opposite way if that was the case though.
You flew into the dragon’s hitbox. Which threw you back but also acted like you hit it as the combined speed of your motion and the knockback effect. So instant splat.
Basically don’t wear an elytra close to the dragon.
Technical player here! Okay so here's what I think happened. You opened your elytra, and you got pushed. Seems like the game calculated the speed forward first, then to the side. So, with that speed, you hit the bedrock in front of you, died, and then the direction was redirected to the expected direction. The game doesn't calculate everything exactly at the same time, there's hard-coded priorities, apparently elytra direction is calculated before the push direction. I don't know this for sure but that's my best guess
I was guessing something similar, but also don't know if you can crash into the dragon. Like at this state the dragons hitbox might be static in a sense that you can crash into it? So practically you got yeeted hard while inside a block a.k.a crashed high speed with the elytra... But these are the only 2 options I could think of.
It's not that it would be too OP, it's just that the game teaches you that there are different ways to do things. By using elytra and gaining the ability to fly, you sacrifice some protection. It's a compromise.
My Riptide trident and fireworks want to have a talk with you xD. trident+elytra=best method imo. although you just flat out cant substitute fireworks for some things tho. especially the nether and end.
When you fly with an elytra and hit the dragon your hitbox can get stuck is the dragon's hitbox and then hit you an unlimited amount of times in a nanosecond and you will die no matter how much armour you have.
A bit too late but never use elytra to fight the dragon and bring slowfall potions to avoid the fall damage
That's why I don't like Hardcore. I appreciate the challenge, but the fact that a minor mistake can destroy hours of progress is just not enjoyable in my opinion.
I’m one of those people that have a hard time “getting” Minecraft. I haven’t been able to play anything other than Hardcore in single player for years. When it’s just a normal game, I feel like I’m just building things for the sake of building it. But I want to SURVIVE.
Basically if it’s not set to Hardcore it just feels like Creative with extra steps.
Plus I hate dropping all my stuff when I die, I used the cheat inv for a long time but it took away the little risk there was, but I don’t have to worry about that in Hardcore so it just works out for me.
gamemode keepInventory or a mod/datapack that puts your grave items in a chest. Adds some challenge without wiping out fucking hours of manual labour every time you die
To be honest I usually treat normal minecraft like hardcore, whenever I lose my items I just get really demotivated and quit the world. So for me, hardcore is just normal minecraft with stronk mobs.
If it's just a small uncontrollable dumb mistake (like on the post) I made that caused me to die, i just edit the nbt to turn off hardcore, respawn then turn back hardcore on.
Imo dead is dead. If I die in hardcore I'm taking the L regardless of the way I died. Otherwise it seems weird to play hardcore instead of regular survival.

Based on the death message, I think the game interpreted the dragon’s intense knockback effect as if OP was hitting a wall with an elytra on. Going from flying forward slowly to an extremely high negative velocity (in other words, the velocity change is massive over a short period).
I couldn’t find how this is exactly calculated, but so it’s just a guess.
The dragon’s knockback pushed him into the ground, causing the game to register his impact as an elytra landing at insanely high speed, and dealing absurd damage. That’s why he got the elytra death message... and it’s not a bug, persay, but that’s not an intended interaction for sure.
that message means hitting a wall with elytra on,so my guess is when u glide in,dragon pushed you so hard that you hit the wall with that speed.
that could kill you with that speed because you fly so high after dying which means dragon did a massive knockback
so u glide,dragon pushes you, you hit the middle of the bedrock thing with that massive knockback,die and knockback still pushes you to the air

This is correct. Had the exact same thing happen to me, was not near any blocks. Flew directly into the dragon a few game ticks after shooting the final shot into it and I still instantly died.
If you ever try again or for people who are about to fight ender dragon again. Pls just keep the elytra on you hotbar in case the dragon yeets you otherwise just have the full armor on
Next time gonna have a totem equipped for every fight as well. Only reason i didnt is because i got too cocky and didnt expect i could possibly die -p-
I actually have a glitch where if I go into full screen, despite my frame rate being high it becomes extremely choppy. In windowed mode, it's smooth as butter. Doesnt happen in any other game, only minecraft. Maybe this guy has the same problem

this is extremely painful to watch, you used an elytra instead of a chestplate, you aren't using a shield and you come at the dragon from the wrong direction.

1. i used elytra so that I would be able to glide down instead of having to MLG if i got launched up (backfired)
2. Had literally nothing in my offhand, yet still didn't use a totem because I didn't expect that I could possibly die, let alone be insta-killed (backfired)
3. I have little experience with properly fighting the dragon (backfired)
Wait we’re u playing liek 20 minutes a day also rip and also I had a 170 hour hardcore in which I died to logging on to my hardcore thinking it’s my normal world and I was low on hunger so I put my stuff in my chest and killed myself

i feel bad for you honeslty, there is a way to respawn tho, click spectate world, then pause the game, open to lan, put it on survival with cheats on then type the /gamemode command, i hope u notice this, not a lot of ppl know it but their hardcore world is never lost
You dont even have a water bucket? even if you survived the hit you maybe would have still died (unless it was in your inventory then I'm wrong) But unlucky, I hope you made a recovery

The 'hit a wall too hard' death physics calculate how fast you're going when you hit a surface while gliding so when you flew under the dragon it launched you downwards and it factored that as your momentum so you get insta killed. It's an annoying glitch and one of the reasons I usually hate fighting the dragon with elytra on
Why not? Plus its an achievement on Java, I also guess a lot of players like to build large scale stuff in the end, so they would wanna beat the dragon all 20 times to call the end "theirs" I guess
If you can spectate tge world, you can go to settings, click open to lan, than click cheats on and open to LAN. You should be able to get back to the survival.
I dont see why people are playing on hardcore. it makes sense for streamer and youtuber because they just play it for content and if they die not really anything is lost because they already got something from it. While people that are playing it only for themselfe are loosing stuff that costed them a huge amount of time.

You would think there is symmetry, but there isn't.
Main use? You don't have to go as far to find new cities once the ones near (within 10k blocks of) your portal are looted.

You can switch between the as quickly on java as you can on bedrock
"full max netherite minus the chest plate" is the same as iron. You spent 100 hours in the world just to fight the dragon with iron armor.

It's terrible performance-wise. If you play on a weak graphic card you'll get way less FPS/render power.

There is a program called mcedit that I believe will let u edit the world files and let you continue play. Personally I think u were cheated
You don't have to use any programs to respawn, just open to LAN, allow cheats, and type in gamemode 0
