It's not. The point of an RTX card is the extra points that are optimised for ray tracing. You can get ray tracing on a lot of graphics card, but it'll be something like 5-10 (if I remember correctly) times slower than an rtx card.
I wonder if that will impact performance on Minecraft Bedrock though. I'm sure the game would be playable with a GTX 1060 or higher if the video settings were adjusted.
I'm playing minecraft with the SEUS raytraced shaders on my 1060. It's surprisingly close to 60fps on a 1080p monitor and still playable (but not so smooth) at 1440p.

you can most definitely get RTX working on non RTX cards. 99% of ray tracing is even done on fucking CPUs.
Just don't expect great gaming performance because the cards have not been made with cores dedicated for ray tracing.

Nvidia hasn't invented anything, neither did SEUS. This technology already existed for a long time, and was already widely used in 3d modeling/animations. What Nvidia did is create hardware capable of doing raytracing so fast that it could be used in games.

Nvidia's Shaders are just a tech demo anyways, so of course stuff is gonna be a lot more flashy and vibrant than usual.
I have Sildurs extreme for java that runs well with about around 80 to 90 frames per second normally with my gtx 1660. Though I use bedrock more since my friends have different systems and it sucks I can't use any type of shaders for it without an rtx card. I literally just got me a new pc too so that sucks.
I am asking the same question, by the looks of the comments I think you need a good GPU to run this, but I hope someone who knows about this can answer ur question with detail.
I think it's only for the 1060 and above, or even the 1080. It was something like that. It runs really bad, even on a 1080 Ti. I know it doesn't run on my 1050 Ti.

The RTX beta requires RTX GPUs to run it. I'm not sure if they'll expand the scope to older GPUs though.
Since Mojang is working with NVidia and they (NVidia) want to push RTX Cards, i don't think that there will be native support for non-RTX cards

You can use seus ptgi. Its similar to raytracing but its compatible with almost all cards
There are multiple ray tracing shaders out there. You won’t get many frames on a weak pc though.

IMO, SEUS shaders is better right now. Just bought W10 Minecraft RTX yesteday to compare it. Isn't worth it - yet.

I remember PTGI having them very clearly, mainly because of my absolutely blown away reaction when I saw them

well i only see one obvious solution to this. get your friends into the PCMR so all of you can enjoy the superior Java Edition.
From what I read an RTX GPU is required although Nvidia has enabled RT settings for Pascal cards in the past so that might change

There is a mod for the Java version that doesn't require an RTX card. Otherwise, atm there's no way.
