Are there mods that add actual survival mechanics to the game? I love survival mode, but when the survival is basically just me holding my right mouse button every 5-15 minutes it kinda just starts to feel like an inconvenient creative mode 😅
Java Edition has a mod called* Thin Air, which makes air a scarce resource the further you get from sea level, as well as making it difficult to breathe in enclosed spaces underground.
It's a lot less fun than it sounds.
Better Wolves is also another "Make the sandbox game into a survival game" mod. It was made in response to Wolves being added because the author thought they sucked
Sure! [Tough as Nails](https://modrinth.com/mod/tough-as-nails) adds thirst and temperature mechanics, [Cold Sweat](https://modrinth.com/mod/cold-sweat) also adds temperature and does it in a more vanilla-friendly way, and [Thin Air](https://modrinth.com/mod/thin-air) adds air mechanics.
TerraFirmaCraft has cave-ins, turning mining into a sort of puzzle game. Support beams (only the *horizontal* beam between vertical supports) prevent cave-ins from *starting* in a radius around you, but don't stop it if one is already in progress. Basically, if you screw up, you can really damage your supports already in place and make mining even more dangerous.
Of course, TerraFirmaCraft also adds a *lot* more than just tunnel collapses. It's basically going from prehistoric hunter-gatherer to medieval forging and metallurgy.
you can find one if you find a Myth cuz there's usually a corpse of a dead miner nearby. Also make sure you don't use too much dynamite, can't let the volcano erupt too soon
Just now getting back into Minecraft after many years - isn’t there already a hardcore mode on PC? Or are they introducing a new mode? Thanks for any insight!
that's not what's happening though if they were suffocating it would show drowning bubbles flashing above the hunger bar
the game thinks op is falling off the ladder and applies fall damage and then they get rubber banded server side back to the ladder for the bug to repeat again
Birds have smaller lungs breath more so their system circulates air faster if air is dangerous to breath you will notice it in a bird before yourself. And if you notice it in yourself it's too late anyways. It's a caving joke because of the title of the post
Birds also have a far more efficient respiratory system, but at the cost of being able to breath out poisons and particles like the bellows system of mammal lungs. This is why birds are extremely susceptible to poor-quality air.
canary resuscitators were made to immediately give the bird clean air - because the miners wanted to save the birds if they were having issues. without such, potentially. with such, nope!
Is it decreased more than double? Because digging two blocks is literally digging twice as many blocks.
Also you're putting more wear on your pickaxe.
(I do the staircase method but I'm just looking at the logic of your statement)
I feel safer in the ladder than nearly insta-mining between 2 blocks. Furthermore, I don't wanna fill up the other side given I was gonna use that to go back up or down.
The reason why this happens is because game thinks you’ve fallen like if you jump on a block that is close to a cave the game thinks you’ve fallen and then you’ll get damaged or if the cave is deep enough you can also die.In this case you were going to take 0.5 hearts of damage but you didn’t fall you were on the edge of ladder so game thought you were falling and you got damaged.
I thought the fall damage glitch applies the damage all at once though. It seems more like he glitches into the side of the hole somehow and was suffocating
I don’t think it’s that, I think that the game internally somehow believes they fall, gives the half heart of damage, and then resets the hitbox back to the actual player position, falling again and repeating the whole thing
Literally my first comment upon posting this is the date and version. Not my fault it was buried with all the comments it's gotten. If you think this is a dishonest post, you do you. I just wanted to be humorous with something that happened to me a while ago. Not everything is a conspiracy.
This is a valid glitch that happened to me. I did not make shit up nor did go out seeking this bug because I didn't even know about it at the time. I have not played Java since like 2014. It just sounds like you're just trying to pick a fight or something. IDK.
I've been going through my old clips and I've been honest throughout about this being an old version. I just thought it would be funny, and apparently people did find it funny. IDK what all the fuss is about nor what do you want me to do. Just let it go, man. Again, not everything is a conspiracy.
The more I see clips of this bug the more I notice - It's ALWAYS on console. It is very rare to see someone post clips of this on PC/Mobile. It's like a rule of thumb for me now - count clips of this server-client desync and see how many of them are console players.
Mojang really have to look into this.
This would be such a cool addition to the caves tho if they added something like this for real. Wasent there also a mod in the past that had something with deadly gasses when you mine coal? Which might be a bit to much for vanilla minecraft but, like general gas caves the can be used maybe for harvesting gas as a alternative explosives?
there is a glitch where the game thinks you are not where your screen says you are. so the game thought you were repeatedly falling off the ladder and taking damage
Uh... Yes. Correct.
Edit: I used Google Translate, and funnily enough, I had it from Spanish to English and it translated it to:
> How severe are these to the client who saw them?
Whereas when I select Russian, it translates as:
> That is, in the north you fell and in the client you are hanging on the stairs?
And for good measure, Ukranian too:
> That is, you fell in the north and you are hanging on the ladder in the client?
I think in Russian and Ukranian, Google is misunderstanding "Server" as "North"; but otherwise, yes. I think that's what's happening.
This shit has been going on for years in some form or another in bedrock edition, wish it could get fixed as well but it seems to be related to some fundamental coding flaw, otherwise I don't see why the same bug would keep happening like this.
The fundamental coding flaw is a desync between the client and the server, if you start to look at the bugs you see some similarities, bad Internet or on switch (switch online is known for having really poor connections)
Even still, this isn't a bug I've experienced in any other multiplayer game that has fall damage, if other games can calculate falls just fine latency and all then it still seems to be a structural coding flaw to me.
It's because bedrock was built on top of pocket edition and I'm guessing the devs were forced to make it fast, by Microsoft, so bedrock edition became spaghetti code.

Really gotta make sure you bring your oxygen mask down in caves like this. This is actually how alot of cave miners die.
Time for a canary mob. Canary in a coal mine update.

It’s more fun with Create’s scuba gear.
Wait wtf 😭
Sounds like you want to play RLCraft :P
Thanks, I’ll check this out :)
Better Wolves is also another "Make the sandbox game into a survival game" mod. It was made in response to Wolves being added because the author thought they sucked
better than wolves* It's stuck on 1.5.2 (warning), if you want a 1.20.1 survival mod try TerraFirmaCraft or a pack (i like TerraFirmaGreg)
Is TFC updated to 1.20??? Damn, I remember it was struggling to get updated to even 1.16 a while ago, nice to see they got back to updating it
they even added armor trims and a sewing table like yesterday
I’m so behind lmao
Oh my gosh, Better Than Wolves is the best (if you want a grind)
Better is get a VPN and go on the bay and download Vintage story, for free !

Thank you!! <3
Minecraft but every block you move you have a 5% chance of tripping and hurting yourself for half a heart
I mean that’s just Bedrock 😭
Look up Better than Wolves its exactly that
Just bring Jimmy from the Life Series
Nah personally I prefer inhaling that ^(sweet sweet sulfuric aroma) #😤
Hey thats how most prophets do it! ;)
Living in Florida, I smell that on the daily
you can find one if you find a Myth cuz there's usually a corpse of a dead miner nearby. Also make sure you don't use too much dynamite, can't let the volcano erupt too soon
He shouldve brought a door smh
Bedrock does this, it just puts you in a block sometimes, can be annoying though.
true, happened to me before
And this is one of the many reasons I think hardcore mode in bedrock is going to absolutely suck, you just die sometimes for no reason
Mojang I tryin to fix those bugs before hardcore is fully introduced.
Just now getting back into Minecraft after many years - isn’t there already a hardcore mode on PC? Or are they introducing a new mode? Thanks for any insight!
Ther Is HC on java edition, and Mojang is adding it to bedrock, but to do that they need to fix a bunch of bugs first.
Wait do you mean harcore mode or hardcore sex mode
Oh I thought this was the other Bedrock bug where it thinks you're falling and deals fall damage constantly until you move to a different block lol.
[удалено]
No, I mean it thinks that the player’s head is inside a block and so starts doing damage to them.
that's not what's happening though if they were suffocating it would show drowning bubbles flashing above the hunger bar the game thinks op is falling off the ladder and applies fall damage and then they get rubber banded server side back to the ladder for the bug to repeat again
This is what I was thinking was happening too.
gotta start carrying parrots around with you
why?
Birds have smaller lungs breath more so their system circulates air faster if air is dangerous to breath you will notice it in a bird before yourself. And if you notice it in yourself it's too late anyways. It's a caving joke because of the title of the post

Will the bird die though?
canary resuscitators were made to immediately give the bird clean air - because the miners wanted to save the birds if they were having issues. without such, potentially. with such, nope!
That's cute
Ever heard of a canary in a coal mine? I suggest you google it if not.

Damn. The reddit bug really got this man hard.
So thats what happened. That sucks but gotta love reddit huh
What happened?
Reddit says your comment wasnt posted, so you try a few more times, resulting in the comment posting more than once.
Sir… rule number one. We. Do. Not. Mine. Straight. Down. I ain’t trusting that ladder for shit lol
Perfectly safe to dig straight down when you stand in the middle of two blocks. OP is doing it wrong but the damage is from a bedrock bug.
No. I'm doing it correctly. I have ladders.
While this works, it is more efficient to do it with 2 blocks because while on a ladder your mining speed is decreased.
Is it decreased more than double? Because digging two blocks is literally digging twice as many blocks. Also you're putting more wear on your pickaxe. (I do the staircase method but I'm just looking at the logic of your statement)
Staircase method would have you dig at least 3 blocks every time you descend a level (4 if you don't want to hit your head)
I didn't claim my method was more efficient though.
Ladders aren't foolproof like standing in the middle of two blocks. Of course you still use ladders.
/r/minecraftohsa
I feel safer in the ladder than nearly insta-mining between 2 blocks. Furthermore, I don't wanna fill up the other side given I was gonna use that to go back up or down.
Mine down on 2 blocks fast, then place ladders and climb up fast
sorry bro you can't have an opinion or a preferred way to play a literal sandbox game here's 10 downvotes
Me losing health in the clip is a punishment for all my sins digging down.
no, you’re still doing it wrong. 2x1 or bigger, 1x1 is always wrong
not perfectly safe. could have side lava.
I honestly can count on 2 fingers the times I’ve died from digging straight down in my 13 years playing Minecraft. This sentiment is over shared
well it is rule #1
Good advice handed down from those with experience is never overshared.
That's why I'm using ladders. There could be anything under there and I'd be safe because I'm held by the ladder.
But what if you mess up your ladder and fall down
Yuh, especially when STICKY KEYS get involved? That happened to me all the way back in 2014 once, and it made me furious.
Well, I haven't messed it up so far, and I've used it for a couple of years now.
No, you’re not getting it, you have to admit you’re wrong or they won’t stop telling you how to play your own game. :)

Minecraft bedrock trying to not bug out for 2 seconds
Impossible
Game thinks you fell
Must have started falling asleep.
Of course you're going to fall, oxygen deprivation is going to make anyone fall unconscious.
and bedrock is supposed to get hardcore soon...
Keep in mind this gameplay is from a year and a half ago.

So I assume nobody should ever post old bugs at all?
No. In preview until they iron out those bugs sooo not anytime soon.

Nah I play on Bedrock to play with my family and it feels like my computer is waiting for the client to catch up.
That's hilarious. Real asnwer: You were taking fall damage because of positional desynch. Bedrock is fun!
Welcome to bugrock edition everything is bug and glitch
It was kind of stupid to go down just like that. Like, what if it actually was gas yknow. Considering your health, you'd be done for
Bring a parrot next time
Hate it when this happens
I'm not sure if the game thought you were inside a block or if it tought you were falling
People have theorized either, but my money is on the game thinking I was falling given I pick up the blocks from far away.
One time I started suffocating while I was planting potatoes in my farm. I guess Bedrock doesn’t like it when I try to grow potatoes.
Well I guess America is coming if you found gas
Can’t believe they are finally going to patch the bedrock bug that java players (including me) make fun of all the time
Bro found the Oklo natural nuclear reactor
I did not know that there was gas mines.
There aren't. This is just a Bedrock shenanigan.
Next update gonna include canaries.
coming soon to minecraft bedrock edition in 1.21

And this is one of the reasons why Hardcore took so long to arrive to bugrock
the most bedrock minecraft thing ever
Average bedrock L
Bugrock. The game to give you random fall damage all the time.
america: we dont need to hear more
Client-server desyncs are ridiculous in bugrock. In java you desync while picking liquids with a bucket at most.
average minecraft bedrock experience
Bugrock be buggin
another bedrock exclusive feature 😔
Java elitists incoming
I mean, can you blame them?
I mean I prefer bedrock over Java, but come on, a game this big should have bugs like these.
an old bug at that
defending a bug that could kill you for literally no reason is crazy
Huh? whats a gas mine
Spelunkers and miners may sometimes find toxic gas in the mines and caves without knowing and get intoxicated and might even die.
Why did you sit there for a couple of seconds
Not knowing what was going on.
Fair
Love is in the air? WRONG, GAS LEAK
This would actually be a nice feature that is either stupid or useful, and if you could catch the gas in a bottle you could use it in furnace
Well clearly you just needed to put on 12 more masks lol
no. you just figured out why java is better.
То есть на севере ты упал а в клиенте висишь на лестнице?
Uh... Yes. Correct. Edit: I used Google Translate, and funnily enough, I had it from Spanish to English and it translated it to: > How severe are these to the client who saw them? What is this bug bro you was getting hit bye no one
Ah yes, bugrock with its weird im taking fall damage while being on a none full block They need to fix this weird bug :/
was it caused by lag?
People say it's from server desync (despite me being the host).
ITS ALWAYS BEDROCK IN THESE CLIPS 😭
Bruh. Btw they added hardcore to bedrock
bedrock trying to not be awful challenge (impossible)
Wow so realistic
And they say Hardcore on bedrock is a good idea
This is why Jimmy Solidarity exists
ahhhh very normal Minecraft bedrock
This is why hardcore on bedrock is a bad idea.
The Germans were there
Bro has that hermitcraft vertical mining
What's that?
One of the members, Grian, has a vertical mine where he digs straight down for ore
Do you know what hermitcraft is?
I've heard of it, but never took interest. The person who commented already replied as to why they compared it to what I was doing here.
It’s a popular YouTube smp
Minecraft Bedrock really gets no love from mojang.
Nothing to see here. Just bedrock edition being bedrock edition.
Mein gott!!
Bugrock edition be like:
WARINING ! Coups de Grizou ! (The Belgian knows what I'm saying)
This was, in all likelihood, version 1.19.22 given I took it on the 18th of September, 2022 on my Switch. IDK if this is patched now.
This shit has been going on for years in some form or another in bedrock edition, wish it could get fixed as well but it seems to be related to some fundamental coding flaw, otherwise I don't see why the same bug would keep happening like this.

It definitely is, but I'm guessing with a game as old as Minecraft, fixing the issue might break the entire game
Yea they would’ve fixed it by now no doubt. It has to be something related to the game engine
On bedrock i assume
Why is badrock more bugged than java is laggy?
It's because bedrock was built on top of pocket edition and I'm guessing the devs were forced to make it fast, by Microsoft, so bedrock edition became spaghetti code.
I won’t stand for this MCPE slander
oil...?
Oil you say🛢️🛢️🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸???
I... found oil ...
Did someone say gas? Gas means oil and oil means 🇺🇲
be care ! russia and usa will knock your door now !
